Rayman Legends Reviewed By Official Nintendo Magazine

rayman_legends

The official Nintendo magazine has published the first review of the delayed Rayman Legends for the Wii U. The publication has awarded the game an impressive 92% stating that it contains ideas that rival those of the Super Mario Galaxy series. The official Nintendo magazine says that Rayman Legends is finally asymmetric multiplayer finally done right, but the publication says that game isn’t quite as much fun if you’re solely playing single player.  Here’s some choice excerpts from the review.

  • A turnaround of ideas to rival Mario Galaxy
  • Asymmetric Multiplayer finally done right
  • Not quite as good for the lone wolves
  • Basically, ONM applaud the game’s multiplayer claiming it ‘is more welcoming that New Super Mario Bros U’s, mainly thanks to heroes being able to pass through each other and the absence of a life counter’. At times the game’s focus on multiplayer is at the expense of single player though, most notably in Murphy stages.
  • They also seem to praise the game’s difficulty system, despite their gut feeling telling them it is easier than Origins. The ‘core’ levels are relatively easy (which will last around 7 hours apparently); however, the optional stages and those ‘invaded’ (think purple comets from Super Mario Galaxy) are at times brutal in difficulty.
  • The Gamepad use is also applauded, with ONM claiming ‘this is what the Gamepad is for’. The game also has much replay value, with a very competitive edge attempted to best your own high scores; the return of 40 Origins stages also lengthens the game.

Thanks, Will

    1. @V..Me too! Would’ve been a day 1 purchase if not for the unreasonable delay. Now, I’ll get it from the bargain bin!

      1. its wasnt unreasonable, they are a company out to make a profit.
Its people like you and the guy above that make developers not want to develop or port games to the Wii U, Thanks for fucking shit up for all of us.

          1. They couldnt, you know why? Multiplatform games have to release ON the same date or after in order to be release on a MS console.

    1. This and GTA fulfill two completely different needs. Buying one does not exclude someone from buying the other. Sometimes I want an action game or a shooter, some times I want something more fluffy and fun. This fills that latter need.

      1. Ha ha that never stopped no one from playing the zelda games. Just becausr something is that easy does not make it enjoyable.

    1. Nintendo commander, the great Gamer. Remember Adventure Island on the Ness, talk about hard, your life depleted ad you run or skateboarded across vast wonderful levels. If Keza of ign uk/europe reviewed that game it would have scored a 1.

  1. What I mean is, I’ll still get it regardless of the delay. But I’m holding my money off until I find and buy a used copy and send Ubisoft a message by not giving them my $60.

      1. If I buy the game new, that’d be telling Ubisoft that I support their decision to delay a finished game.

        You tell me what’s right.

        1. If you enjoy a game and enjoy the product, then they deserve your money. If you want to play the game, support the company that makes it.

  2. Still very happy to have kept my pre-order. Anyone still bitchy about Ubi due to this is an idiot. They’ve given Us plenty more (great) games than any other publisher

    1. Gamers have every right to be upset with Ubisoft. I’m one of those people who kept fighting to get the game released early. I even boycotted that so-called “exclusive challenge app” that nobody should’ve downloaded. We could’ve sent them a message by not downloading the demo.

      1. So you boycotted something you would have enjoyed because a game was delayed a few months?

You’re the one missing out. Learn to enjoy things and let your unnecessary fanboyism grudges go.

        1. That’s not fanboyism. It’s called being a responsible gamer. If something happens in the gaming community that’s not right (AKA MML3 cancellation), you take a stand against certain companies, etc.

And let’s just say I’ve been influenced by this man recently. He speaks the truth:

          1. A company has to make business decisions in order to remain in business. Sometimes that means canceling projects or moving release dates so a game can become multi-platform. It doesn’t make it less of a good game, nor is it a personal attack on you.

              1. HOLY HELL THE ADDED SHIT TO THE GAME, WIIU GETS 4 COSTUMES TO IT, THEY IMPROVED IT, DON’T FUCKING PUNISH THE DEVELOPERS WHO WORKED LONG AND HARD, REWARD THEM. THEY GOT IT TWO TIMES WPRSE THAN YOU.

          2. Translation: “I’m chucking a tantrum like most gamers these days!”

I’ll be buying it. The developers worked long and hard on this game, don’t blame them for the big suits decision.

      2. If you don’t buy a 3Rd party game because of a delay, you could be causing other third party games avoiding putting games like GTA on Wii U. Other 3RD party developers look at sells results from other developers to determine if their game will earn revenue or not. In other words Boycotting is the last thing Wii U owners need to be doing.

        1. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

retarded fanboys how can i make this more obvious……. i need bigger arrows, read *bbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaa* can you see sheeps??

  3. I’m still getting it. I’m hoping GTA V gets announced for the Wii U so I’ll be patient. If they say it’s not coming I’ll get it on PS3.

    1. Don’t worry comrade, one day we shall both be blessed by High Command’s supreme powers and be rewarded with a Wii U…

Then I shall both lead our Nintendo Inglets to victory while crushing them in games…

          1. You will have to wait a while as money goes to books and other priority things right now…

            Do you have a 3DS?…

But the challenge is 100% coming, we will battle quite a bit in Mario Kart 8, Smash Brothers and so on…

      1. It’s going to be people like y’all that is going to be the reason of Wii U’s low 3rd party support. Ubisoft is one of the few developers who actually used the GamePadmore ways before Nintendo even did. If you ask me, Ubisoft is more creative with the GamePad than Nintendo so far……scratch that NintendoLand counts.

        1. I’m sorry?…

Are you implying that people who cannot afford a Wii U are to be blamed for the low Third Class support?…

If you are then that’s just ignorant to the lives of other people who are having a misreable time right now…

  4. A good game is a good game, regardless of when it comes out. If you care that much about WHEN a game is released or if its exclusive or not, you’re not really that into video games.

    1. Gotta take all reviews with a grain of salt. Videogame reviews are an odd beast, where something that receives an 8.0 can be considered “terrible reviews”

      1. Thing with the ONM is that I read the whole magazine; and do generally have to agree with what they have to say. I’ll read the whole review in a couple of days…

      1. It’s the first one i’m buying since launch. I thought I would have it in February, but you know how that went. I also thought I would have Aliens.

        1. Well at least you got lucky on 2 games. Pikmin being great and aliens being so shit that they cancel it.

  5. Guys just leave you’re fanboyism behind and buy this game afterall they have made more content and its looking good. I am upset too about them delaying the game to make it multiplatform but in the end I will leave my fanboyism behind and buy it because I FOR ONE WANT TO SEE MORE 3RD PARTY SUPPORT ON Wii U AND IF WE DON’T BUY 3RD PARTY GAMES THEN THEY WILL NOT COME ANYTIME SOON. UBISOFT HAVE BEEN SUPPORTING Wii U AS WELL AS ACTIVISION SO LETS SHOW THEM SO THEY WONT REGRET IT!

  6. Played the demo on PS3, seems pretty good. If the whole game consisted of music stages, then it would be my Game of the Year.

  8. Even though this game is amazing, I refuse to buy it because of the 7 month delay. I simply cannot support that type of business decision.
