        1. there should be HDS! COME ON Nintendo people are srceaming for it all over miiverse & would be nice if solar panel was on it

      1. What does the Dualshock 4 have to do with anything? It doesn’t *look* like it. The 2DS isn’t even a controller, it’s a handheld with controls.

The Dualshock 4 looks alright to me, other than the useless touchpad. Still, I have to admit, the new Xbox One controller *looks* better.

        1. It looks like crap. Putting a touch pad on a dualshock is just stupid. Anyone who buys that console at launch is a moron.

          1. Yeah, the touchpad is stupid. It’s a gimmick that I don’t see being used much into the console’s life cycle.

Still if you say anyone who buys that console at launch is a moron, then I (along with a million others) am a “moron” because I’m getting it at launch.

              1. I’m a gamer who has owned all major systems and plan on owning all future systems within reasonableness.

The PS4 has games I want to play and features I want to use. The same reason I got a Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, 3DS, Vita, PS2, Gamecube, N64, GameBoy Advance (& SP), GB Color, PSOne, SNES, NES, etc.

                      1. I plan on getting one, some, or all of the following on PS4 at and around launch:

                        Killzone Mercenary
                        Knack
                        Watch_Dogs
                        Battlefield 4
                        The Witness
                        DCUO
                        #Driveclub
                        Basement Crawl
                        Blacklight Retribution
                        FIFA 14
                        LEGO Marvel Super Heroes
                        Madden NFL 25
                        NBA 2K14
                        Warframe
                        Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag

Then some other during the launch window which runs through March, I believe. (*Awaits the inevitable “You can get most of these on other systems, those games suck,” reply*)

                        1. And this is for?

I already have a Wii U and Wii U games. No point in comparing the systems for me. I take the good with the bad from all.

                        2. @ Simply G

It’s supposed to educate you. I know you have a Wii U. Did you even watch the whole video. There is no pint in getting a PS4 at launch unless you’re stupid.

                          1. @ Simply G

I’m not saying to cancel your pre order. I’m just letting you know that you are willing to show Sony that you are will buy a PS4 knowing it’s not even worth it yet.

                          2. Killzone, Knack, Watchdogs, Battlefield, an abundance of indie and F2P titles.

Plus in the launch window there is infamous, Destiny and a lot more.

How is someone stupid for making there own financial decision that has nothing to do with a little fanboy like you?

                          1. I know that some of the first party launch games use it along with some others in the launch window. It can be used for some navigation options too I guess.

Still, it’s not uses that really add anything to the gameplay experience as far as I see. I have a feeling third-parties will not use it much and eventually Sony might change the Dualshock 4’s design.

I believe every PlayStation has had a controller redesign after the initial launch. I don’t think this will be any different. But then again, games that require it will still need something, so maybe they won’t take it off. ;/ Meh… Whatever. Still seems overall useless to me.

                            1. I kind of don’t like that attitude that is just ”All I need is an xbox controller, don’t need no innovation”

Things need to fucking evolve and change in the future, which is the main reason why I LOVE the Wiiu, it’s bold and extremely innovative and different!

Would rather have that boldness of Wiiu rather just the same console again but with better graphics and some gay Facebook streaming….

                              1. The Wii U Gamepad is great, I just wish more devs took better advantage of it. So far, it looks like Rayman Legends might be the best use of it.

As for the Xbox One controller, it looks nice, but yeah, it doesn’t truly add anything to the experience. I feel the same about the PS4’s controller even with the touchpad.

                    1. I think he just means it looks like crap…
                      Which it kinda does.
Apparently it feels great, which is more important but yeah dualshock 4 does look really stupid.

                        1. Button wise, and it terms of “how many lines, and different materials are all visible, the WiiU pad is more attractive, it looks sleek.
The PS4 controller looks like a $15 mad catz controller. It looks bad.

                          1. At first, I hated the design; but it’s starting to grow on me. At least the comfort and functionality (which is supposed to be great) of it is more important than aesthetics.

                    2. I thought this article was a joke at first haha. Not sure how portability will be for the 2DS since it doesn’t fold. And I don’t know if it would feel normal playing. I already have a 3DS and 3DS LL so I probably won’t get it.

                    3. No, he’s saying the Dualshock 4 looks terrible, not that it looks like the 2DS. But I’m glad to see you’re sidestepping the point as usual.

                      1. Sidestepping? Dualshock 4 was never relevant to the discussion. But then again, fanboys must protect there precious company …

                1. Meh… the 2DS looks terrible they should of kept it a clamshell, but it is good for some people I guess :S.

Wiiu price drop = great! I will stick with my 3DS XL though thanks ;)

                  1. Exactly. I suspect that a clamshell version of the 2DS will come in another year. =p

Still, I’m keeping my 3DS over it. The 2DS doesn’t look very portable. ;/

                    1. Yeh , the advert for 2DS should be ”fits into you bag or pocket like a huge piece of Welsh mountain blue slate” xD

It’s an inferior device to the XL like the Micro was to the SP… it’s inferior to the original 3DS , it’s basically for younger people or families who need to cut back on everything…

                  2. they avoided clamshell because kids break the hinge easily. although I’m not a kid, I broke one of my ds hinge back then.

                2. Eh, i think it looks fine.
I prefer the clamshell design, but this looks more like the gameboy design, so it has appeal in places.

                3. “A new limited-edition Wii U bundle featuring The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD launches on Sept. 20 at a suggested retail price of $299.99. The bundle includes a black Deluxe Wii U console; a GamePad controller adorned with gold lettering, a gold Hyrule crest and gold symbols from the game; a download code for the digital version of Hyrule Historia, a book that details the chronology, history and artwork of The Legend of Zelda series; and a code that can be used to download The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD from the Nintendo eShop immediately at no additional cost.

The digital version of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will also launch on Sept. 20, while the packaged version launches Oct. 4 with distinctive gold-foil packaging, both at a suggested retail price of $49.99. GameStop is also offering an exclusive Ganondorf figurine bundled with the packaged game at a suggested retail price of $54.99”.

Ahhh, so if I go for it, I’ll get the digital download instead…ok, I have a 500 GB external hard drive, no big deal. DAT figurine though…I just might buy it for the hell of it…

                4. I agree with you about the 2DS, buddy. I prefer the 3DS XL. And I have to tip my hat off to Nintendo for lowering the price of the Wii U Deluxe Set… while respecting the company for discontinuing the Wii U Basic Set. The next two months will be better than last year’s launch.

                        1. I here ya… Super mario 3D world looks way worse than Galaxy 1 and 2. That being said I was a huge fan of 3D land so I’m going to give it a chance.

Nintendo’s stubbornness towards online Multiplayer is what pisses me off though. Online Multiplayer like coop, speed run races , speed run leaderboards , coin collecting and enemy killing challenge etc could of made this game VERY VERY appealing.

                            1. Yes sir, indeed! I got Blacklist and W101. W101 is awesome, Sad that the sales tanked in Japan though :( .

It will be one of those games that is forever remembered like Viewtiful Joe…

                              1. Is Blacklist any good? Was going to get it then i remembered Rayman comes out this month and i needed a pro controller.

                                1. Yeh , it’s pretty awesome. I loved Splinter cell on Original Xbox and have jumped back in with this, it’s better than ever!

                                2. I’m gunna have to wait a bit for Rayman which sucks, but Ubi should of released it in February ;)…

Splinter cell is in the 8.5/10 region. easiest way to express how I feel about the game, a few flaws but a lot to like and its definitely worth buying.

                      1. Hmmm…

I think maybe they switched the 2 games because we all know that Mario games always sell the most in most cases…

Still, better than delaying it for 6 months…

                        1. Great, i don’ give a fuck what sold better.
The Last of Us sold great but it’s a $60 movie, i don’t fucking care.

                          1. Well obviously they care…

If it can change the attitudes of some western media retards then I guess that’s good…

Hopefully they have a valid explaination to why DKCRTF was delayed by a few weeks…

              2. So the 3DS all over again…

The price drop now we will see billions of systems sold!

                Ahahahahahahahah!

                1. It’s only $50 so I don’t think we will get one. I kind of wish I had waited for the zelda Wii u, but then I wouldn’t have my monster hunter yet(at least online). But getting something free would be nice.

              3. WOW Nintendo really are going to push, wonder if they removed the 10% back on all e-shop purchases or they are keeping with that for the new bundle.

Cool hopefully will sell more consoles and get people talking about the Wii U

              4. i wonder how the 2ds will manage some gameplay mechanics related to te clam shell style of the ds and 3ds, i remember on Zelda Phantom Hourglass that at one point in the game you gotta close the DS so one mark could be stamped on your map, how you will do this on the 2D? haha

                1. This is for people with sensitive eyes that can buy the machine at a more affordable price…

                  Why not?…

Although the design could have been better…

                  1. i just thought it contradicts the reason why the 3ds was made in the 1st place. arent there parts in cetain 3ds games that must be played in 3d (like super mario 3d land)?.. and yes, the design looks weird…

                    1. Well I don’t think it contradicts the purpose in games more than the hardware itself as you can just turn the 3D off…

But I guess they want to give people with sensitive eyes a chance to play too or something…

                2. Yes, actually.
Aside from children under 7, some people don’t like it, or it makes them feel sick, or their eyes hurt.

It’s not that they “can’t handle it”, it’s biology.

                3. No, it’s to drop the price I believe. You can pay less and skip the (in my opinion completely superfluous) 3D capabilities.

                4. I can’t handle the 3D effects on my 3DS. I only play the 3DS games for….the games. I never use 3D…ever.

                1. I was planning on getting a 3DS but wasn’t sure if the price was worth it because i don’t really care for the 3D and i’m a cheap bastard. so when i saw this I was like I’M GETTING THIS!! I can sacrifice the 3D for a cheaper price. But when i saw that it can’t fold I thought… NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…!!!
                  It’s like a block, not really portable-friendly!!

                1. The fuck are you SMOKING?
THERE’S BEEN PRICE-DROPPED WII U’S IN ONLINE RETAILERS FOR A WHILE NOW!
Or did you just conveniently forget that?

                    1. How is that any different when you could have gotten it for $300 online anyways?
                      Because Nintendo says its different?
No, if the price drops online didn’t help before, why would they help now?
Not that I don’t HOPE they’ll help, but I have reason to believe they won’t.

                      1. Because now the price EVERYWHERE is reduced. It’s not a case of “how much stock do we have, what’s the market like, what games are coming, what holiday is it”, it’s a full cut everywhere, forever.

              5. So, are Wii U early adopters going to get an Ambassador program like they did for 3DS?? Seriously, I got stuck with a white basic model because Deluxe pre-orders sold out in 2 days, and now the delux set is the same price WITH Wind Waker.

                1. Prices drop man. It happens. You don’t get any prizes for buying a system early. You get to play that system for a year before the price drop.

You’re the only person who couldn’t buy a Deluxe system. They’ve been sitting on shelves since day 1.

When the price of a game drops, publishers don’t hand out $20 to everyone who bought it at launch.

                  1. Console prices don’t NORMALLY drop before they’ve been out a year. A price drop so soon points to an issue with marketing decisions. When they dropped the price of the 3DS, they gave early adopters some “thanks for supporting us”…just seems like the same thing here.

              6. The fuck, 2DS… it looks ugly as fuck. Yay for the WiiU though and hope it sells more… I hope they also drop the Basic set though. It’s kinda useless.

                1. Yeah. I guess they did it since it’s cheaper to produce and will cost less at retail. In the end though, it’s pretty much like an upgraded DSi that can play 3DS games. ;/

                2. Yeah but now I don’t have to worry about accidentally flipping 3D on for a second. Bugs the hell out of me when it is on just a little bit and the screen goes all blurry.

                3. It’s more structurally sound as well. I know many people who have had their DS and 3DS systems break after a small tumble.

              7. 2ds is a stupid name really but the design is great, remember its for kids. kids who break 3ds/ds hinge easily and the 3d is only for 7and up. it kinda looks a size of an iPad.

              8. Thank God I already have a 3ds that one looks butt ugly and a deluxe price drop is a dream come true if they keep Nintendo land.

                  1. The people who complained about their kids accidentally braking the hinge on the 3DS, or who didn’t like the price, or who thought the 3D effect would destroy the kids brains. It makes perfect sense, really.

                    1. Simple solutions to those cosmetic problems: 1. Train yourself/your kids to not drop the 3DS or buy a case for it. 2. Go shop on eBay, Amazon or even major retails like Target for cheaper sales. I got my new Black 3DS at Target for $130 (same price as that abdominally pointless 3DS downgrade) when Luigi’s Mansion launched in late February And 3. There is a damn slider/off switch right in front of everyone’s face and Parental Controls can block the 3D.

So, how do I feel about living in a generation/society full of stupid crybabies like these? Very annoyed.

This is by far the most ridiculously dumb version of any Nintendo product since..well, Micro was pointless but not stupid looking and Virtual was a flop but memorable. This crap doesn’t even count and it contradicts the purpose of 3DS’s existence in the first place. And only for $40 less? Pathetic. And here I am thinking the Vita is doing much worse or the PSP whored the hell out of itself with remakes.

              9. I’m glad for the price drop. The 2DS is ugly. When looking at it, it doesn’t make you want it. I just turn my 3D off my regular 3DS.

                1. It’s not for people who already have a 3DS. It’s for people who didn’t want to drop over $200 for however much use they’d get out of a 3DS.

                2. jtz let’s show these trolls, Sony drones, xbots, PC orks, iOS goblins, android gremlins that we are indeed Gamers. The 2DS is one of the strangest ideas ever, the game boy micro was beautiful but not necessary. Nintendo has too much money, why not just invest that money in an F-Zero?

              10. Pingback: Wii U price drop $299.99

              11. Wow……The Nintendo 2DS?
Well, the thing’s cheaper than any 3DS system, plays all the same games and has all the same functions.
The only flaw is that the design is absolute crap, but it doesn’t look uncomfortable to hold at least……
                Now, where’s the L and R buttons?XD

                1. No it’s not, it’s incredibly cheap and affordable. This is great for people like me who saw the 3DS’s price point and didn’t find it worth their money or people who wanted one but simply couldn’t afford it.

              12. Yay! There’s a Nintendo handheld that actually has a price-value ratio worth it for me! And just in time for X and Y too. Still don’t see the Wii U being worth it in the near future but looks like my Vita will have some company.

              13. 2DS nintendo please. Ambassador program for all us early adopters yes! 2DS that was probably a nintendo tree house bone head idea. WiiU $300 sucks for xbone now. WiiUPS4PC3DS for me :).

              14. 2DS looks HORRIBLE. Why wouldn’t they stick with the clamshell design? Also, why did Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong switch months and why is Donkey Kong only $50? I’m not complaining about the price, but I hope it’s not because the game was originally in development for Wii and they just moved it to Wii U. I’ll happily spend the extra money on Wind Waker to get the Ganondorf figure.

                1. It’s $50 maybe so it sells and Nintendo can make some money!!!? I know I wasn’t buying DK: Tropical Freeze, because I hated DK: Country Returns, but at $50 it feels like a deal so why not?

                  1. I’m not complaining, i’m just wondering WHY. It’s from one of their biggest studios, why would it be cheaper than a normal game?

              15. When I see the Zelda bundle, I’m like: yes! finally confirmed!!!
When I see the 2DS, I’m like: what the heck is that thing.
Anyway, I will get the bundle! Although a little disappointed that the bundle did not provide a physical copy of the game but a download code.

              16. So the Deluxe has a price drop now.
And if it still doesn’t sell due to the big hit titles not being out, only Nintendo suffers from it, while Drones from other companies continue to gloat.

The price wasn’t that huge an issue. The lack of big-hit games is. If this doesn’t work, then all I’ll have to say is “I told you so”.

              17. So lets put this into perspective…

                Wii U-299.99 ~ PS4-399.99/ $100 savings.
Windwaker HD Free ~ PS4 no free game.
Digital Zelda book Free ~ PS4 no added free bonuses
Wii U has FREE online~ PS4 you need to pay $49.99 for a years worth of online play.
Wii U is backwards compatible with Wii games. PS4 is not backwards compatible.

So lets see what the ACTUAL price difference is between the PS4 and the Wii U now.

Wii U $299.99 for complete experience day 1
                PS4 $510.00 for complete experience day 1

Buying the Wii U Zelda Bundle is a $210 savings/ Give or take…

Looks like I’m buying a second Wii U deluxe for Upstairs bed room!

                  1. For who? You? Or Me? Cause if your talking for me, what the fuck does it matter to you what I spend my money on? Didn’t know you were my life accountant. You worry about your money I’ll worry about mine.

                    1. Well said, he’s got his own reasons just like mine, I got 3 why I’m getting a second wii u.

                      1. (personal) Collecting the special edition so I can add it to my rare games and systems collection.

                      2. (personal) In case I’m using one for this, the other can be played separately and I can be at peace.

                      3. In case my little nephew comes over and bugs the hell out of me to play my wii u. I love him to death but dam he can be annoying little shit. This is my main besides me touching my new special system…my precious.

Anyways dude, what if he has the same goals as me? Would you think its not smart to have another for a peaceful time away from family?

              18. This isn’t portable at all on top of everything else wrong with it. Please tell me there isn’t going to be a 2ds xl

              19. What the fuck is Nintendo doing !?!?!??!!?!! I know that they did a terrible job with the small 3DS but this ? There is only one thing to say, *SUPER-HYPER-MEGA-POWER-OVER-ULTRA-ATOM-FACEPALM* but the rest is good news except the Cockemon thing.

P.S. Pokemon should perish in hell.

                1. What the hell are you smoking, stonework? This is ALL great news….except for the Wii U price drop of course.

              20. I may be some kind of idiot, but I found “exclusive Ganondorf figurine” to be the most exciting part of this article.

Now if they had announced a price drop on the 3DS XL, that would be a different story…

              21. This is the first time I’ve ever wondered if the people running Nintendo are insane.

I still refuse to believe the 2DS is anything other than a joke. If it isn’t, it needs to go the way of the Vitality Sensor.

The WiiU price drop is good to hear, though.

                1. Why? What’s wrong with the 2DS? It’s cheaper at the cost of a completely unnecessary part of the hardware. I don’t even think it looks all that bad, kinda reminds me of the GBA.

              22. SherlockWillFightBilbo

In all honestly, I didn’t think this was real. The 2DS looks like the ugliest hardware in all of gaming’s history. I really thought this was some sort of April Fools’ joke. I’m not even exaggerating. I honestly believed wholeheartedly that this was some prank.

Anyway, the price drop is stupid after all that crap talk of, “We are NOT going to lower the price!” So they were just trying to get a few more people to pay $350, eh?

If the 3DS is doing so fine, why is the 2DS even necessary? And 3DS games look way better in 3D compared to 2D. The games will look like crap.

I’m happy about Wind Waker being only $50, but I am NEVER buying Nintendo hardware at launch ever again. I got screwed with the 3DS (Ambassador Program doesn’t warrant $80) and I’m getting screwed with Wii U. -$50 and missing out on the Zelda GamePad. Tch.

                1. No, 2DS is a fantastic idea!!! Now those developers who complain that they don’t want to develop a game in 3D can’t complain AND Most people don’t use the 3D function anyway. I can’t stand using 3D for 5 minutes. It hurts my eyes and during gameplay I can’t tell where I am going. So I play with 3D off 100% of the time.

              23. Pingback: Nintendo To Launch 2DS: The 3DS Experience In 2 Dimensions | My Nintendo News

              24. Wii U price drop!?!?!?!?! THAT’S AWFUL!!!! Nintendo won’t make any money this console generation…..I paid for my Wii U when it was $350 so all of you who waited out….lucky dastards.

              25. That Nintendo 2DS though….Brilliant. I kinda want one JUST because it is brilliant and I already own a 3DS lol!!!

              26. Not only is the 2DS ugly and useless but it doesn’t fold. It’s fine with 3DS being the cheaper version and 3DS XL the high end version.

                1. The 2DS doesnt fold simply because the hinge system sucks for younger players who aren’t too careful with their systems.

So, it works. Plus it’s dirt cheap!

              27. Pingback: Nintendo to Offer Lower-Cost Game Device | amazingbusinesspeople.com

              28. Since Nintendo has money to waste by making a useless 2DS, they may as well give Wii U owners a who purchased this before September 20th a $50 credit toward eshope. I would use that to buy splinter cell or watch dogs or 3DMW.

              29. Many people don’t see it. But actually, on America (all of the continent) there were no price drops. Those online price drops were only at Europe. And since Nintendo is still living at the stone age, Wii U has region lock, so for a user in America is not a great deal to get a PAL console/game. I just hope this official price drop means millions of consoles sold at the end of the year.

Nintendo felt the pressure and made the right decision for a “long-term” financial recovery. Now the Wii U is really appealing for many people.

                  1. He was talking about the online vendor price drops in UK and Europe the past few months, not today’s announcement.

              32. Some good news. I’d like to see some customization for Wii U, but we’ll see. The 2DS looks horrible and seems odd to remove the one feature just to get people to buy the new hardware. I’d rather be able to upgrade my DS to the 3DS for cheap than buy a 2DS. If the price were $75-100 for a 3DS then I would maybe consider upgrading.

              33. The 2DS is absolutely perfect for our younger gamers! As a guy who repairs DS consoles, the hinge is usually the problem 90% of the time. Now, I feel comfortable with my 5 year old brother actually handling this. It doesn’t look cheaply built, and there’s no 3D imaging that parents will freak out about.

Maybe, just maybe, it might take more abuse than my original Target edition Game Boy Advance… Works like new 12 years after being thrown across the room countless times!

                1. Stop acting as if companies don’t release new versions of systems all the time, you don’t deserve any more 3DS Ambassador program end of story!

              35. I think it’s an okay idea to have a cheaper 2D version but the lack of clamshell was bad. When using two screens or motion as input I think the flaws of this will be highlighted. Not to mention how awkward it could get to hold. I hope they’re only producing it in small quantities because I don’t know if it will sell too well, especially with the price difference between it and the original being only about £20

              36. Sorry Nintendo, but this is the ugliest piece of hardware I have ever layed my eyes on. Compared to this, the Wii Mini is a masterpiece. Are they running out of ideas or why do they waste their time and effort on something as useless as that?

              37. I have the feeling that this 2DS will just make the developers & publishers not bother with 3D games for the 3DS versions, how can they make 3D games work on a 2D screen ?

I know you can vary the depth on the slider but games like Dark Moon, Mario 3D Land well most of the games have been designed to be played in 3D with depth.

When did Nintendo decide to make this, when the 3DS was failing ?

Why have Nintendo been making this & doing all the R&D when the WiiU is failing or even failed.

I have no idea what Nintendo are thinking, talk about moving things forward or doing things in a different way, what is it now, backwards !

              38. Awesome! +1 for options and we finally get that much needed price drop with a bundle. It probably won’t sell as much as a Mario Kart 8 bundle around this time but hey I will take it.

              39. 2DS seems quite silly. It may be useful to parents who buy them for children, but if they were targeting parents of young children, the launch would have been better at the start of Summer Break. The dropped Wii U cost seems a little hypocritical on Nintendo’s part, although this will be great for people looking for…. more storage? If you think about it, if you grab a Basic Wii U set and shove a couple GB of storage, paint it black… You get… Wii U Deluxe! (without promotions) So really, the Deluxe set was cancelled and the Basic set got a new paint job and some extra storage. And what about stuff like Flipnote Studio 3D? When is that gonna happen?

              40. WHAT!?!? You mean that the Wii U Wind Waker HD Bundle set doesn’t come with a physical copy of the Wind Waker HD? NO FREAKIN’ WAY!! Nintendo just keeps constantly making dumbass, retarded decisions. WHY? This just guaranteed that I will NEVER buy it! I can’t believe how dumb Nintendo is these days. And that’s something I would have never said, once upon a time.

This is why Nintendo gets criticized, they make lesser things instead of better, I hope the next 3DS is something better than the XL and doesn’t cater to idiots.
