WayForward, the makers of Ducktales Remastered, Adventure Time, & Contra 4, have announced via Kickstarter that they have created a new project that needs backing. The new title is Shantae: Half-Genie Hero for Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Steam. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero continues the tradition of action adventure in the spirit of Metroid, Castlevania, and the Legend of Zelda. The goal is to introduce Shantae to a whole new audience with a fresh art style and a brand spanking new storyline. WayForward is looking to raise $400.000, and has raised $23,534 so far.

  1. Nintendo should change the console names

    NINTENDO KICKSTART U

    &

    NINTENDO CROWDFUND DS

    *Nintendo 1st party games non-existant

    NEW NINTENDO SLOGAN:

LET SOMEONE ELSE MAKE GAMEZ COS NINTENDON’T !!!!!

              1. Well, lets put it this way. I gotta fight for my dream. I’m seeing so many fighting for it, I must join them if I can.

                *puts hands in pockets*

The criticism here taught me alot and how people will react to something new. I’ll be looking forward too it once it comes for my turn if I can get a good team going. Guys or girls with comments like below ↓ may never miss a thing. I just hope to see it fly and make it good. My dream…is not an easy one. Specially with so many dissing and hating but I can care less in that fact because this place…somewhat made me stronger thanks to Donko, and Iceazeama.

Well, I know you guys don’t give a flying two shits about what I’m gonna do or where I go so laterz.

  2. I’m starting to not understand this. How can Wayforward need only $400,000 to make a game for all platforms and Inafune asks $2.5 million for the same thing. They’re both games with 6-8 stages and 4-6 hr playthrough duration and i don’t think Inafune is making super long stages.

        1. Actually releasing a megaman game in the coming months would not only be disastrous and unwise, but it will also not use the popularity that the blue bomber will receive after its smash bros inclusion. Inafune has nothing to worry about. And his game is as real as megaman.

  3. mynintendonews you need to have an update every week for these kickstarters just like the media create for game and console sales. There are more kickstarters than there are indie and mid level developers.

  4. HAHAHAHAHA MORE KICKSTARTER NEWS. I TOLD EVERRYONE YSTERDAY WII U IS BECOMING FUCKING OUYA. ERRYDAY IS A FUCKING NEWS ABOUT THESE CHEAP ASS AMATEUR GAMES. I MISS BEFORE WHEN INDIE GAMES WHERE LIKE NOWHERE TO BE SEEN. I BLAME APPLE FOR THIS.

    1. Amateur games? Don’t know what you mean by that, but instead of being an idiotic prick perhaps you should give the other games in the series a try. Going by your logic the Xbone might be an OUYA too since the game is scheduled to be released on that console as well as the PS4.

    1. They kinda report any “big” news about good Nintendo games. Heck, sometimes they even make posts about Sony and Microsoft stuff! And, it’s not like they have something big related to Nintendo to report about everyday.

      1. Nah, I wasn’t referring specifically to this post, I was referring to the whole Shantae thing. If you’ve been around on this blog for a while, you’d know that every single little detail about this game has been published as news on here and that’s what I was wondering. Like, what makes this game so special ? I wasn’t trying to sound negative or anything, it’s just curiosity and confusion. I’m sorry if it sounded otherwise.

        1. It’s cool! I wasn’t try to sound mean, or strict or anything. But, I’m not sure if you’ve played them, but the Shantae games are practically perfect. And I’m sure that the MyNintendoNews writers are big fans, so maybe details about the games are really exciting for them! (And me!) :D

  5. Ok, I don’t have anything against Wayforward or any of their games, I have and enjoy some of them, but, why do they have to use kickstarter to fund their new game? Does their games doesn’t sell well enough to give them the money necessary to make new games? I can understand that when it comes to new and indie devs, but I don’t get it when ti comes to companies that have already released a bunch of good games.

Also, if a lot of people gives the companies money to make their games, doesn’t that make them investors or simething like that? Doesn’t some of the revenues should be given to them? I know that most of the times they get the game they funded for free, but what if a crowfunded game only needs 100,000 to be made, but it makes 2,000,000 in sales?

I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong but it just crossed my mind right now.

    1. You’re right, and it’s a very good question…
Maybe because this is going to be a pretty big project that requires a lot of money, and all their other big projects (like Ducktales HD) have been funded by other companies? Not sure, just a guess….

      1. Maybe we should send them a question why they want to use kick-starter. I starting to see why developers using this to avoid risks. If the project doesn’t sell well then it is not a big loss if you understand what I mean.

          1. You were right. Other projects were all funded by other companies. Their original projects were usually meant for single platforms, most of the time on DSiware/3DS eshop. This is their bigges thing yet and they need help. Besides I doubt the 400K value is 100% what the game needs to be made, it’s not that high. They’re probably playing quite a big share of that, specially since it’s being released on ALL formats. Look how Mighty no.9 needed 900K and that’s only for PC… The investment should probably be around One Million.

  6. I understand other companies using kickstarter since they are starting out but why Wayforward with our money? Well I mean why through kickstarter?

They got history and why they need money now? Are they not making enough money or something?

    1. They don’t have enough money for such a huge undertaking this project is for them. It’s their biggest game yet, and it’s being released on all formats. It’s pretty big.
