Two Tribes has announced that it has ditched plans to bring the level editor to the Wii U version of Toki Tori 2 following poor sales. A studio representative told Polygon that they had to ask themselves whether the big update to the game really worth the additional investment. To compensate fans, Two Tribes has said it will issue free copies of the Steam version on PC, which can be requested via Nintendo’s Miiverse.
“We asked ourselves: is this big update really worth the additional investment? We also figured that if we release a level editor, it won’t do much extra to the sales. When we weighed all the options, we unfortunately decided that it was the best option to move on and focus on a new game.”

Same here I bought ut thinking it was going to be good and it might be good but it’s charms dont get to me. I only spend maybe 10 minutes on it. Maybe one day I will.

Honestly, this is very stupid. If it had had a level editor, i probably would of bought it. I love games where you get freedom like that.

Why are there two stories in a row about one thing, and why does this one have a sensationalist headline? Why link Polygon when you could get off your lazy ass and source the Two Tribes blog?
Isn’t the sale of this game skyrocked when they release that Toki tory +2? Does that mean the level editor may be in development now?

In the larger articles, it actually talks about putting a level editor in a new game. From the sound of everything, the sales weren’t super low, but the development costs of the level editor would have exceeded the sales, so it was a feature they cut. Part of it was due they want to share levels over the Miiverse or something like and that would have required setting up some kind of new framework that wasn’t there yet. That is why they explored the idea with Valve hosting files, because they have the framework set up, but it sounds like it was too little too late.
It was kind of like a pie in the sky idea they couldn’t fund.

I bought it when it was on sale. No way I’d pay the full price of that game. Even on sale and with the “free” update it didn’t rock me boat at all. Sorry but this isn’t my cup of hard liquor nor my crispy roasted chicken leg.
Toki Tori 2 is actually an excellent game. Honestly though, the level editor isn’t where it’s at, the main game is what it’s all about.
