Batman: Arkham Origins Reportedly Runs Better On Wii U Than Other Platforms

According to initial reports, Batman: Arkham Origins runs better on Wii U than on any other platform, in multiple ways. Despite the fact that it uses less gamepad integration than the previous Wii U Batman adventure, players of the game on multiple systems are reporting that the Wii U version contains fewer framerate drops and glitches, and even displays lighting better than the other two systems. This seems to echo the sentiment from several developers who say Wii U games tend to fall somewhere between other last gen and next gen home consoles in terms of performance.       Okay so do you mean “Runs best out of all consoles” or “runs best out of all platforms”? Because if it’s performing worse on a PC there’s something fishy. Or this article’s title is heavily misleading.

    The way it should be. There is absolutely NO DOUBT, that Wiiu games should be head and shoulders above PS360 games. In the past we’ve seen Xbox 360 code dumped onto the Wiiu with little to no attempt at making it look or perform better. Those developers weren’t using the extra GPU power, Were not using the cache memory, the Edram and other aspects of the consoles architecture.

    Once they do, we will see better looking games than what current gen consoles did. And even they had some terrific looking games. There is nothing to worry about for Wiiu graphically.

    Of course it would, the Wii U has 7 year old hardware so it obviously slightly newer than last gen systems LOLOLOL.

                Saying the words “damage control” over and over doesn’t work. It makes no sense in this situation. When EA came out and said that they’re done with single-player games, and later said “we meant that all games will have some online, not that they won’t have a SP mode”, that’s an example of damage control. It was used within the meaning of the expression, to control the ammount of damage caused to their reputation by a stupid and thoughtless statement. But here there’s no reason to spew that all over the place, because it doesn’t make any sense.

            Again, third party game that wasn’t ported over by the “A-Squad” and it still runs better than than the other two consoles that receive all the “special attention’.

            that was old news about the 1080p ps4 cod they will both be in 720p there is no if and or buts about it whether or not the wii u version will be 720p or 1080p is still debatable

        The Wii U can only do so much on it’s own. The developers need to make sure that the games runs as smoothly and impressively as possible. I’m sure they didn’t care about making the Wii U version slightly better than the other consoles. In fact, I can comfortably say this wasn’t intentional, but nice nonetheless.

          Also these are ports of 360 games. The 360 is mutli threaded, uses in order processing and is very CPU intensive, whereas the Wii U is single threaded uses a GPGPU and out of order processing. Very different architecture..

          Devs are still doing things the old way on a machine that’s meant to be used in a different way.

        dumbass.. when the next gen systems are out and they make games for all 3 systems you will see better improvements. The devs won’t put in EXTRA work for the wii u and the x360 version. it’s NATURAL that the wii u run this game better because of vsync always enabled on it. (this can’t be done on the x360 and ps3)

    It should run better I mean it’s 2006 hardware vs 2013 hardware but it looks visually the same and that’s sad since its a big time gap in hardware. Shows how weak the Wii U is

      I’m not gonna fanboy but I want to remind you that the Wii U is way more powerfull than the current gen. Developers are just lazy. This is one of the first time we are actually seeing differences. I tink that if they ditch the PS3 and XBOX 360 the Wii U games will become more ‘next gen’. But I too can see that the other Next gen consoles are more powerfull. They should have ditched the gamepad and put the development money into more power.

        I think the Gamepad is neat, but I don’t think they should have focused more on the power. I don’t think the Wii U is weak compared to current gen. Compared to next gen it’s obviously going to be the weaker of the bunch, but that means nothing to me. Honestly, I’ve always liked Nintendo’s consoles and the games they release. I felt bad not owning a Wii, but that was more or less during the time when I stopped playing video games, for a while at least. I didn’t get back on it till almost a year before the new consoles were announced, but I digress. I think the Wii U is great the way it is. It’s got a great community system that I think is better than the 360’s, if not then it’s a good rival. Nintendo’s recent approach isn’t to compete graphically which, honestly I prefer because Nintendo makes great games in various genre’s so we’re not playing another re-hashed Generic FPS game with basically the same everything. Granted, Yes, Mario games due tend to be the same but at least they’ll add some gameplay changes and add new levels and ideas and whatnot. Also, being the RPG fan that I am…Monolithsoft’s “X” is on Wii U and it’s looking great so far.

        Also, don’t get me wrong, about the whole “generic FPS” bit, I play CoD and it’s fun but I’ll admit to it being repetitive. Thankfully zombies and the newly announced extinction shakes it up a bit.

            Thanks, I couldn’t of think of a better avatar than Shulk holding the Monado. It has become my favorite RPG everything about that game was just perfect and the music…Amazing. The only thing that could make the game any better was if it was completely redone in HD. Nonetheless, I thought it was a great looking game considering it was for Wii.

      Aren’t you a dumb shit!!!!! ON ALL VERSIONS IT’S THE SAME GRAPHICALLY!!!!! The framerate improvements on the wii u is not intentional but automatic because of the better infrastructure.

      As i said… VSYNC is always on the wii u because of the memory setup, so it will NOT screen tear and run better. That is not weak IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!! Stop being so butthurt.

      @You thought… Are you deaf, dumb or ignorant? Look at AC4 looking almost identical on ps4 vs ps3. Shouldn’t it be running and looking VASTLY superior on that ‘Next gen’ power house the ps4 by your ‘logic’? Uuuhuh… I’ll wait.

        I have to disagree. After owning the Wii U version for a couple of days now, the game freezes more than it should. I literally just stopped playing before because the game froze. I also have texture pop in quite a bit.

        I love the game, but man the freezing really sucks.

          I owned the game myself and what you’re saying isn’t true. There’s no screen tearing, no texture pop in, the frame rate is silky smooth and I’ve experienced no in game freezes. Maybe your game is just malfunctioned and flawed and you need to return it for a newer copy

            I’ve seen the PS3 version in action. My mate was trying it out in his gamestore, and it ran like dog shit. Worse than Arkham city did on Wiiu. Much worse.

My main point was that this game should run better on Wii U since 360,ps3 are from 2006 and Wii U is from 2012 BIG time gap between power BUT that even tho its a Major time gap it doesn’t look 6 years better then the ps3,360 version.                 run a 2006 game with a nvidia titan a i7 intel processor and 32gigs of ram, and it would look the same it looked back then, again, we are talking about performance and minor tweaks light lighting and fps

        Still pretty surprising. I have the WiiU version, and I got quite a few framerate drops when flying around the city, and the game would still have random glitches for me all the time. One time the game even led me to an objective I had already completed, until I restarted checkpoint. If it’s actually worse on other platforms, then damn.

        To the wii u bashers….. The Wii U has enough power to make beautiful games…. and personnaly I love the second screen , I miss having it when i play my ps3, and xbox 360 ( and i’m Not buying a vita for the ability, and I don’t i want to use a buttonless tablet, as a second screen either ) … Nintendo innovates like no other console/game maker, and they provide a fun factor unmatched by most of the competition…. The next Mario looks Amazing, and totally fun …and with ….kong, kart, smash, ” X ” , Bayonetta, and Zelda on the horizon, the wii u is worth owning…and there’s already Plenty to play, ( 101, Pikmin, lego city, Deus X, WWHD, mario, luigi, arkam city, Witcher 2,…., plus downloaded current and wii gen games, plenty of wii discs games…..I own all 3 systems in the wii/ps3/360 gen…. But I might not even get the next PS/xbox …if i do it will be After They get Real backward compatibility,using the downloads and disc games i already own from last gen….without anything needed , like cloud , and they (ps4/xbox one) also need games that sound fun ( to me ) for me to want one …. The launch lineups do not excite me in any way on (xbox, or ps) … Great big yawn IMO… Maybe i’ll consider buying them in the future ….maybe….probably never if they don’t get backward compatibility………………………………………………….But I do hope All 3 systems are successful, as it will mean better games and experiences for Everyone ……. And I believe Trolling really adds Nothing to the community…… Sorry to ramble just wanted to make a few points ….

        I Own Arkam origins on Wii u and it is been great graphics wise (the lighting is amazing!) And the uncompressed 5.1 audio is really good.

        I only noticed it freezes for a second once in a while loading in a part of the city (which it did in the last game). And had only flight frame drops when the cut scenes are real time.

        I’m Sad that they took Out some of the wii u game pad stuff. Miss switching item with just a touch of the have pad.
