Apexicon – Fantasy Puzzle Combat Hoping For Wii U Release

There’s a new game hoping to mark its territory on the Wii U, and its focus is on your lexical prowess. Apexicon – Fantasy Puzzle Combat has just launched on Kickstarter, with a funding goal of $15,000. The puzzle RPG does exactly what it says on the tin, where you create words on the board to deal damage to enemies. Developed by Actos Games, Apexicon has high hopes of reaching Nintendo’s home console and has updated its stretch goals to include the Wii U.

Taking its inspiration from games such as Puzzle Quest, Bookwoom Adventures and family favourite Scrabble, Apexicon aims to deliver much more than your average word game and provides a rich and humorous back story, with full towns of characters to build friendships and various multiple endings depending on the decisions you make within the game.

Currently, Apexicon has raised just under $1,000 at the time of writing, but if its funding goal is reached for PC, Mac, Linux, and mobile devices, the game may just come to Wii U if it hits the $20,000 stretch goal. Studio owner Jonathan Meyer said the following below in regards to the announcement.

“There’s nothing more exciting than having Nintendo extend their hands out to you as a developer. Our first game, APEXICON – Fantasy Puzzle Combat, is perfect for the system, and it’s clear Nintendo fans would love to see more interesting indie games hit the console. It’s up to the Nintendo fans to really see if they want APEXICON – Fantasy Puzzle Combat on their favorite system. We will be able to use the power of the Wii U to help with our battle graphics, including processing power handling all the background coding that goes on which is thanks to the Nintendo Web Framework.”
