I think one of the problems are people bought them new and then Saw them for cheap on ebay or craigslist because there were no good games for it. That’s how I bought mine for half the price and I bought one for my brother too. I kind of feel bad because Nintendo didn’t get my money. I can’t really complain about 2 Wii U’s and 4 games for $400 though.

What marketing strategy? the thing i see wrong the most is the extreme lack of adverts aimed for all around audiences. That last one was aimed at little kids and didn’t even explain anything. I say
1. Advertise the hell out of it; explain why the Wii U is not a Wii and why it’s awesome (look at that one demonstration vid from E3 2012)
2. Stop focusing on the 3DS so much; it’s selling well enough as is,

i really hope that console sales will rise due to this fantastic game. but i fear that it’s only the existing wiiu-fanbase whose buying this game for now. it would be wise for nintendo to release this game in a bundle for this holiday season – for a competitive price of 250$. this would make this game less profitable for them but i could help boost wii u-sales, and that’s really needed more than anything.
so it’s sad to see that nintendo once again favours short income before market shares.
plus, the current bundles have a lot more then the launch bundles did so technically, the wii u had another price drop happen behind our backs. maybe we could see a white wii u like the basic set paired up with 3d world for $250.

Though I can’t wait to play it myself, I don’t believe it’s going to be a system seller. Despite Nintendo trying to market it’s Wii U on “being a total upgrade”, a lot of their target audience (kids) won’t probably even notice that a new Mario game has been released. Why? There are allready so many great Mario games, and to the untrained eye they all look alike. I am guessing a lot of families will be like “but you allready have a Mario game!”, if their kids starts asking for this.
Nintendo simply needs to start thinking WAY out of the box, if they want an AAA game that can move the Wii U. This may be a great game, but Mario has lost some momentum in the later years, after Nintendo started being sloppy with games like Mario And Sonic At Thr Olympic Games, Mario Sports Mix, pretty much every Mario Party game since the third, that dragonquest/Mario game etc.
It’s probably gonna sell well, move maybe a million Wii U units, but there is no way they’ll get near that 9 million mark by March.
i think mario gonna move maybe 2 million by march, and donkey kong is coming on februari,that gonna move a couple millions,i think they gonna sell around 8million maybe 9. right now the wiiu sell round 4.5 million and mario is not yet out.

ha! very nice. ps4 only on place 11 now and it’s going down and down for the moment. so it’s happening what i always said: after the initial fanboy-launch-hype the sales of ps4/xboxone will fall dramatically, because the normal consumers out there are absolutely not interested in buying new gaming hardware for 400 bucks and more which only offer a slightly better graphics performance (as most video gamer consumers are not interested if their games run in 1080p or 720p – they don’t even know the difference) for the exact same games that run on current-gen.
wii u on the other hand has a great price, the innovative gamepad, and is now getting a really impressive games-lineup with fun party games and real core-games plus the iconic mario-games. i luv it :)

this will move SOME wii u units but not many to begin with. though in January or February they will probably put it into a new bundle and that will attract more people i think the wii u is slowly coming around it broke records in its first month then fell off the earth completely now its slowly coming back and i couldn’t be happier this and the fact there’s a really good bundle with Mario bros and Luigi u for 219 for Xmas should create some hope of hitting the 9 mill mark but i wont hold my breath i think they may hit 7 by April 1st

Nintendo rehashes the same Mario game again and again. I can’t believe people try to say that. Nintendo always adds new elements to each iteration of their respective game franchises. The variety I’ve seen throughout the Mario games is astounding. Heck just look at games like Call of Duty that come out once a year and you’ll have a better idea of what rehashing really looks like. The added development time that goes into Mario games is what ensures such high quality.
