Reggie Believes Super Mario 3D World, Smash Bros, Mario Kart Will Be Top Ten Selling Games Across Platforms This Gen

Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime is supremely confident about the forthcoming Wii U software lineup. Reggie even went as far to say that he personally believes Super Mario 3D World, Smash Bros, and Mario Kart will be in the top ten selling games across all platforms this generation. During the interview on GameTrailers, Reggie also announced that the company may have something special to share at this year’s VGX awards in December.

  1. I really want them to preform well, but something deep in my gut says Nintendo will fall… I guess they have the 3ds to fall back on, but if these games don’t do well… I shudder at the thought of what would happen. Don’t worry Nintendo! I’ll still buy your games!

  2. I can see it. What’s there competition? Elder Scrolls, GTAVI, CoD, Fifa? I can see SUPER MARIO 3D WORLD, SMASH BROS and MARIO KART making at least top ten when only 4-8 games are any real competition (8 because there will probably be 4 CoD games or more this generation).

  3. I hope he doesn’t think Smash Bros U will sell when the same features characters and stages are on the 3DS version at a cheaper price. The Wii U version needs something different to make people prefer the home console more.

    1. Yea exactly what I say, 3ds has enough good titles coming to keep it selling well. I would prefer they cancel the 3ds version and go all out on the Wii U version but it’s Nintendo so I won’t count on it

      1. Same characters tho so the multiplayer (which is the main selling point of the game) will essentially be the same and “its in HD” is bad since according to Nintendo fanboys they dont care about graphics.

        1. Yeah and Wii U version of Lost Worlds is in HD and 3DS version out sold that. So that proves HD or not 3DS version could outsell Wii U version depending on install base and how they market it kiddy or adult.

      1. Better online or not, is not enough for you to buy a Wii U and support SMBU over 3DS version. I can spck since I own a Wii U and will buy both versions. No offense just had to be said.

    2. Better online interactions on the Wii U, HD stages (3D stages on 3DS), HD characters (3D cell-shaded on 3DS) Console-inspired battle arenas (Handheld-inspired battle arenas on 3DS), and only time will tell what else. Both versions has their own touches and differences, without breaking the main experience and gameplay.

  4. I agree with smash bros and mario kart, but not so much for the other one. after all the kids are done buying that one, it’ll stop selling.

        1. “Real 3D Mario games” That’s rich. 3D World IS a real 3D Mario game, it’s just not a new 3D Mario game (and yet, it is somewhat innovative). At this point I’m not sure we’re going to see what you would consider a “real” game, unless you just want Galaxy 3.

  5. I know they’ll all most likely make it on the list, but I believe Mario Kart 8 will be the highest on the list out of the 3, since Mario Kart Wii became one of the best Wii games.

  6. I think Reggie is right. Those games are blockbusters. All Smash and Mario Kart games have sold very well. The new installments will continue that trend.

  7. Who doesn’t believe it, seriously, when those games come out they’ve overtaken all the other consoles in the past haha
Haters gunna hate, but really, nintendo always rules in the end

  8. Maybe, but that may just be vacuously true because the Wii U may not have more than 10 games which end up being popular. In terms of objective quality, I’m not really confident in these titles, they just don’t have the feeling of freshness and excitement that Nintendo’s past consoles do. I suspect they’ll do reasonably well, but I don’t think they’ll exactly be blockbuster games.
