      1. I have yet to complete 3 Zelda games and start 6, so I can’t really say which one is the best, but regarding debates whether OoT or MM is better, I prefer to see Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask as one game, making it the ultimate Zelda game.

    1. While this list is just someone’s opinion and not based on any useful information, sales-wise the list is erroneous at best. The only thing it got right is OOT at the top of the list. Here are the combined cross-console numbers of the top-ten Zelda games worldwide.

      1. Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time – 10.73 mil
      2. Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess – 8.42
      3. Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past – 7.31
      4. Legend Of Zelda (NES) 6.51
      5. Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening – 6.05
      6. Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker/HD – 5.01
      7. Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass – 4.97
      8. Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link – 4.38
      9. Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword – 3.65
      10. Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask – 3.36

So it’s pretty clear to me which Zelda games the majority of gamers prefer. Money talks, baloney walks.

  1. Pleasantly surprised to see Majora’s Mask in there. Always thought that was underrated, personally (it’s my personal favourite, though ALBW isn’t far off, that’s great too!)

  2. Nice list, it sucks it will be years before I even have a list ready. I am a huge fan of Nintendo games and Zelda but I haven’t even played or completed most of them ): i am broke most of the time, it will be years before i get ALBW

  3. Is anyone else finding Between Worlds a bit easy? I mean, not so much in terms of combat or puzzle solving. I mean easy to get all the items, find heart pieces, etc etc.
I’ve only beaten one dungeon but I’ve got every all of Ravio’s items with 1500 rupees to spare, the pegasus boots, the power glove, two bottles, the, the flippers, bug net. I’m basically fully-kitted out after the first dungeon. Getting rupees is a joke – you can sell bees for 50 and they’re all over the place. And that cuccoo dodging game gives 150 on max difficulty.
On the flip side it’s pretty cool I’ve been able to do this much sub questing straight away, but it’s not leaving a lot to discover for the rest of the game. Kinda the same as Pokemon X/Y – gives you everything super early and then the second half just felt like going through the motions. Anyone? No?

    1. DId you know that there was an Hero mode? Put that on and do the game again. Your opinion might change. Oh and, thanks to the comment by “Jesús”, I didn’t read your post because of spoilers. Except the first sentence where you claimed the game to be too easy.

    1. Just because a game is a series doesn’t mean it is “milked.” With that mentality the Star Wars franchise is nothing but a bucket of milk and it’s not. Milking a franchise implies that after the great success of the first iteration each sequel brings nothing new to the table by trying to play off of the original success. It is 100% fact that Zelda is innovated with each and every installment. Zelda is a masterpiece of a franchise, there is quite simply no way to deny it.

    2. They release a game once every 2-4 years. I don’t call that milking. It would be milking if they released the normal game and hero mode separately, added a way to purchase rupees with real money through the e-shop and if they released a new game every year.

  4. Pretty close to my list. Only switches on mine are.

    10) Link’s Awakening

  6. My list goes 1)Twilight Princess 2) Orcarina of Time 3) Skyward Sword 4) A Link Between Worlds 5) Spirit Tracks 6) Four Swords 7) Oracle of Seasons 8) Majora’s Mask.

I’d also like to point out that I have not yet finished ALBW, but it is amazing!!! and I have not played ALL Zelda games. The list is just the Zelda games that I played. FYI, I am not a fan of Majora’s mask…. I have not beaten it yet, because I don’t really like the count down clock.

      1. No I haven’t!

Twilight Princess on the Wii was the very first Zelda game I ever played. It was what introduced me to the story, the characters, the originality and fantasy aspects. So while everyone else falls back on Ocarina of Time for “nostalgia,” I fall back on TP. It is one of the few games that I have played where I became deeply depressed upon the games completion. I literally “fell in love” with the game.

I don’t think I can ever get that feeling back though. It’s like when you get used to riding roller coasters, you have a blast the first couple of times, but then you get used to the “scare” and they aren’t fun any more.

  7. Hell no is twilight Princess better than skyward sword, nor is wind Waker better than skyward sword. In fact his list is trash. Skyward a Sword should be number one with OCT number two.

    1. I think Twilight Princess is the best Zelda game ever and actually deserves to be number 1. Plus, everyone has their own opinions.

    2. ummm…. Skyward Sword was cool and all, but it was ruined, because Zelda wasn’t sexy. Her eyes were too wide, her eays were too horizontal and her nose was too fat. What happened to gorgeous Zelda? Sorry it’s my opinion here, but that is why Skyward Sword can never be number one. They ruined Zelda!!!!! She looked better in Twilight Princess :3

Reason why it matters to me so much is because Zelda is my favorite video game character of all time. She is pretty, strong, has a sexy voice in Super Smash and has magic. Ruining Zelda is a deal breaker for me.

Also, Twilight Princess has Midna (who is better than Navi) so that is another reason why TP is better than SS. Plus SS had you revisit places too much. Got a tad bit tedious. Never felt boring in TP though, it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

        1. Cartoons can be sexy. Thing’s don’t have to be “real” to be sexy… Yes, she is very sexy in TP and not so much in SS.

      1. I agree with you on a lot of this, I think the atmosphere of TP was outstanding, and the story gripping and characters captivating, but from a gameplay point of view, it had not moved on from OoT and was difficult in parts without a guide..I had to look up a guide a several points just so that I wasn’t running around aimlessly trying to work out what to do for hours.
Skyward sword moved the series on from OoT, if only by adding the run feature and stamina. Basically, for me the gameplay of SS was streets ahead, but I preferred the story of TP

      1. puahahahaha! this is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have read on the Internet. Congratulations!!!!! You win nothing!

      2. I don’t think Skyward Sword is the worst or even ONE of the worst entries into the Zelda series. I liked SS a lot. The story line is possibly one the best in the series actually w/ the whole Demise as Ganondorf and origins of Link and Zelda thing going on. What made it inferior to other Zelda’s like TP and OoT is the repeating of areas and bosses which made the game feel s.l.o.w for a time. Also, it was a HUGE step back adding Fi in after having Midna.

But, aside from it’s faults, the game was beautiful, I loved it’s controls (though some people don’t for some reason..) and the story line was fantastic. Probably the best AFTER OoT. Skyward Sword is definitely in the top 3 best Zelda games.

    3. Twilight Princess sucked. The ONLY good thing about it was the graphics. It was so easy that it was and to this day is the only Zelda I was bored with. Everything was played too safe and felt like something I did a million times before. The only characters that felt new were Midna and Zant (who they ended up killing with retardness when he took his mask off). The final battle was cool but only because of how epic Ganondorf is. It really is to me the lowest point of the series unless you count those embarrassing DS titles. A Link Between Worlds I will say is amazing.

      1. EASY!? Are you kidding me? It was so hard I needed to buy the strategy guide to beat it. The puzzles were difficult (especially the one in the ice temple as well as the one before getting the Master Sword with the statues). I got lost sooo many times, but I had a blast doing so. The game was enormous, I couldn’t help but explore.

The graphics were great and the art style is the best in the series. They NEED to go back to it in future LoZ titles.

Link as a wolf was genius, Midna’s character development and reveal as the Twilight Princess was genius, Zant was great as the villain and the flip at the end to Ganondorf being the real head honcho was genius. Everything about TP was pure genius. The game kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn’t help but cry when it ended. The lovely song playing in the credits and after seeing Midna leave Link to the Twilight Realm was too much to bear. I SERIOUSLY CRIED… no joke. TP is the only game to make me so emotional. That is how I know the game is top notch, best Zelda game of all time.

    1. My goodness! You need to get some more Zelda games to play! I’d recommend some to you, but the list would consist of EVER Zelda game ever made, because they are ALL amazing :P Well except for the CD-i ones, but we Zelda fans don’t normally acknowledge their existence…

      1. I know. I really want to get into the Zelda series ever since seeing that one Zelda fan art and seeing the official time line(though, I hear it’s bullshit). I may only try the over world-view ones because those are my favorite.

  8. Yeah, I think the list is accurate, but I’d probably have one of the Oracle games in the place of Link’s Awakening, but Link’s Awakening would be No.11

  9. Oh, and just for kicks, the right list would be something AKin to this:

    10. Oracle of Seasons
    9. The Minish Cap
    8. The Wind Waker
    7. A Link Between Worlds
    6. Twilight Princess
    5. Ocarina of Time
    4. Skyward Sword
    3. A Link to the Past
    2. Link’s Awakening
    1. Majora’s Mask

  10. Definitely not surprised that Ocarina of Time is #1. I still don’t see why Majora’s Mask was such a favorite. The time constraint really made me dislike it. I think I’d honestly agree with the list though.

    1. Same, I hate the time constraint. It really ruined the game. I hope they NEVER do that again in any Zelda game. Good news is that it has been such a long time, they must have realized it was a bad idea. They probably won’t do it again.

      1. Watch the “Game Theory: Link is dead in Majoras Mask” video on youtube and youll understand why MM is so loved by the ones that do.

As some one who 100% the game and still plays it at least once a year, I hope they go back to that erie, dark, and hard aspect that made MM so great. Yes, MM was and still is Nintendo’s Darkest zelda title.

      2. The Time Constraint didn’t really change much for me, if it wasn’t even in the game it wouldn’t make a difference to me. You do realize you can slow down time, right? It makes the time slow as shit.

        1. Playing the Song of Time backwards did make the game easy. I wonder if those that complain about it even knew/know about it.

  11. My list would be like this

    #1 Ocarina Of TIme
    #2 Majora’s Mask
    #3 Twilight Princess
    #4 Skyward Sword
    #5 Wind Waker
    #6 A Link Between Worlds
#7 A Link to the Past
    #8 Legend Of Zelda
    #9 Links Awakening
#10 Oracle of Ages and Seasons

      1. Twilight Princess was a huge disappointment for me. I can’t even explain why exactly. Except that I never liked Midna. And I didn’t find it all that fun changing into a wolf.

  13. I think Ocarina of Time was an amazing game, but it doesn’t deserve #1. When I first played it on the N64 I loved it and if I didn’t play the 3DS remake I would agree with the #1, but playing it again on the 3DS really opened my eyes. It’s not really all that great, but it is indeed, great. Personally, I would put Wind Waker at #1.

  14. “Interestingly they put fan favorite Majora’s Mask at seven”? You pick that one to criticise? There is no “fan favorite” because everyone has a different favorite. If Oot was that low, maybe that would be interesting, because most people would probably pick it. My favorite is SS, as well as my favorite game ever, but all of them are fantastic, and most of them are masterpieces. The only thing that’s interesting is that whoever wrote this news apparently thinks his favorite equals “fan favorite.” I never actually heard from many MM devotees until pretty recently, after the Oot 3d remake if I recall, but most people still don’t rate it high enough to be called fan favorite, because they all are really. Oot and Lttp seem to generally be the top two on alot of peoples lists. I don’t fully agree with this list, but it’s not my list. So everyone gettin their panties in a wad, chill out.

    1. Oh, and if I had to do a list :
      #1 OoT
      #2 Wind Waker
      #3Twilight Princess
      #4 Majora’s Mask
      #5 A Link Between Worlds
      #6 Minish Cap
#7 A Link to the Past
      #8 Link’s Awakening
      #9 Phantom Hourglass
      #10 Oracle of Season

I guess it would look like that.

  15. My list wouldnt have TP in it. Adventure of Link would be there instead. Also, Links Awakening and Major as Mask would be higher and OoT would be lower. Top 10 would be:
    10 Minish Cap
    9 Adventure of Link
    8 Skyward Sword
    7 The Legend of Zelda
    6 Ocarina of Time
    5 Link Between Worlds
    4 Link To The Past
    3 Links Awakening
    2 Majoras Mask
    1 Windwaker

  16. here’s my list.

    1. Wind waker
    2. Skyward sword
    3. Link between worlds
    4. Twilight princess
    5. Majoras mask
    6. A link to the past
    7. Ocarina of time
And the rest are meh in my opinion.

      1. Dude honestly, I haven’t played that game. I hear it’s really good, so ill put it as number 7 and then ocarina is number 8 now lol.

  18. See, I dunno, based on what I’ve played of ALBW so far, it’s presenting a rather serious case for why it can bump OoT off the top spot. Never have I felt so damn satisfied with playing a Zelda game. As much as I enjoyed the other Zelda games, they always had some minor caveat that prevented me from truly enjoying it, whether it be in the graphical department, or the story area, or issues with gameplay or sound, whichever. ALBW leaves me completely at ease with all those; it’s got some insanely awesome and relatable graphics, with bump mapping, textures, specularity, and shading like I’ve never seen before in a Zelda game, it’s got some of the best damn Zelda music I’ve heard, it’s got a story that’s actually interesting and compelling, and considering how much of it was derived from ALttP, that’s saying a lot, and it improves on the gameplay from ALttP dramatically to accommodate more modern features such as the paint walk, as well as making the game more openended to the point where you can completely decide how you’ll go about the game. I also really, really love the overall aesthetics and appearance of the game; I think this is Zelda’s strongest visual appeal to date because it just fits so damn well with what Zelda is: A kid adventure full of fantasy and mystery. It just captures what ALBW really is, and it doesn’t have to do any more than that. Been a long ass time since I’ve felt like I’ve been on a real adventure in any game, Zelda or non-Zelda, and ALBW is totally giving me that right now.

And by the way, that paint-walk is DAMN SEXY. Ohmygod. How the hell did we get so far with the franchise without incorporating that gameplay mechanic? There is so much life in every puzzle with that move!

  19. Good list but…

    1) Link to the Past
    2) Ocarica of Time
    3) Wind Waker
    4) Link Between Worlds

thats the only change i would do, mostly because Link to the past is the real masterpiece
