Naming the best games of 2013 is never a small feat, so with the wealth of titles on offer this year The New Yorker has sat down and listed their top 10 games of 2013 – and three are Nintendo games.
In an unranked list, Simon Parkin speaks of the ten best titles this year has offered, naming PC releases Papers, Please and Stanley Parable, an iOS game and the multi-platform game Saints Row IV. But the article also lists three Nintendo games, including two Wii U titles Super Mario 3D World and Pikmin 3, along with the Nintendo 3DS game The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
Commenting on Super Mario 3D World, Parkin says “it is the strongest orthodox game of the year, demonstrating Nintendo’s unmatched talent for spatial-reasoning designs.” While for Pikmin 3, he says, “the game offers a deep, primal appeal to both children and adults.” And finally he remarks that A Link Between Worlds is structurally “one of the most unusual in the series: you can tackle its dungeons in any order”, and that “its maps and tools is challenged by a fidgety, thrilling design.” You can find the full list on The New Yorker, here.

Guess I’m gonna have to out troll you again I see.
Sickr?
I agree with two of those three.
Which one do you not?
Seems like another “just the same Mario game” got top-rated again. Get lost, haters!
awesome, saints row makes also the list.
My favorite games of the year, totally deserved!
I’m suprised GTA V isn’t on the list.
True, I also thought that Pokémon X or Y would list,
Fuck mario
So U gay Now?Faggot Gtfo!
Too bad the rest of the list is junk. While I applaud them for keeping the more popular choices on lists like these out of this one, they did so for all the wrong reasons.
Wow that lists sucks. Saint’s Row IV, State of Decay, Impossible Fishing (an iOS game), Candy Box…
impossible fishing :O
the wii u has such great games, and it’s such a shame that it doesn’t sell better! instead ps4 and xboxone which have no good games, just cheap last-gen-ports are selling like cakes! this situation makes me kinda sad, because it shows again how stupid and ignorant people are – that only marketing and hype counts, but not the real values.
I agree with this Simon Parkin guy. He really knows his stuff!

Die in a fire, brony :P
Oh, he’s a brony. That explains his idiocy.
I know right?
Ok.
You must be on crack if you think any one of those games are shovelware. All TEN of those games will be AAA top selling games…. well, perhaps not Wii Party and Wii Fit U, but EVERYTHING ELSE!
He’s just trying to provoke people, jusk ignore him even if it means putting up with his meaningless comments. All they want is attention from people.
Want to go hunting sometime?
lol

Excellent…
I think you mean…

Indeed I do…
Hmmm…
Mario 3D world isn’t that great. Galaxy is… galaxies away compared to it. Still good game.
And galaxy has nothing on sunshine so… What now?
Galaxy is way better than Sunshine. Wtf are you smoking? Sunshine had a limited theme, tropical, and they managed to run with it. Galaxy had no limitation. They were able to do what they want however they want. Galaxy was a much better game than sunshine. Of course this is just my opinion.

Nintendo dominates a Top 10 games of the year list. How appropriate. All 3 of those games are stellar.
Reblogged this on Fergster's Other Blog.
I liked “Gone Home” a lot more than “The Stanley Parable.” I wish that had been on the list.
