Yeah. I’m happy for Nintendo. The numbers on the Wii U have been pretty steady and now it has performed better in Japan over the past few weeks.
We had stacks of hundreds upon hundreds of Wii U’s at my store and suddenly in two days everything was sold out. If this is any indication on things to come, 2014 is really going to be a great year for the system.

Definitely, it appears that Nintendo was right about the Wii U’s sales picking up for the holidays. My cousin also got one for Christmas along with many others. This is definitely just the beginning for the Wii U and now we can look forward to a lot of high sale months coming up!

Japan haven’t been influenced much by Christianity, so they don’t celebrate Christmas.
Though some are fans of finland, and they do celebrate it. But not because of chritstianity(honestly, i hardly remember, that it’s connected to christmas)
For me joulu (Finnish “Christmas” holiday) is holiday with good food, family time and sauna. 24th December is day when we give our family and friends presents and also light candles for people we have lost.
For more religious christian people it also includes christmas church, lots of christian christmas songs and etc.
Xmas in Japan is a couples oriented holiday, kinda like a third valentines day (they celebrate february 14 and march 14 as “white day”)

Ignoring the 3rd party titles are selling well on PS4 and Ps3 because they didnt miss out features and was worked on to get the best performance out of the console.
That’s because the audience’s for those games also want the more powerful of the next gen hardware, not the weaker one of the 3.

You keep saying they’re lazy ports like you have any idea how development for games works.

The ports are lazy because they’re just ported from another console, so therefore the engine layout will be the same as the console it was designed for.
Unless you really know what you’re doing, the game needs to be designed for the console specifically. Otherwise you’ll get games like AC3 where they play really well on 360, but porting the same thing for Wii U will give you performance issues – and it’s for that very reason the Wii U version lags and frame rate drops.

I don’t think many japanese will buy the ps4 for awhile. Not much appeals to them at launch. They have better patients then most consumers depending. Well pre orders are very high right now in Japan, over 1mil I believe and I read they have a Japanese exclusive game coming at launch, or 2 I think so Japan will have a great ps4 launch

Um, no. The Vita alone has sold more than the WiiU. The global WiiU sales are at around 4.5 million if I’m not mistaken, the Vita has sold more than 6 million, as far as I know. Plus, both the PS4 and Xbox One have sold more than 2 million each, and it could have been easily more if they weren’t sold out everywhere.

To all those that are saying that the reason Wii U sold so well is because the PS4 isn’t out yet. Think about this. The best time for a console to sell is during the holiday season. If Sony was convinced that they could make huge profits in Japan, they would’ve release the PS4 already. Instead they focused their energy on their strongest markets, which are, the US and UK. This allows them to maximize their profits. Same with Microsoft. Truthfully speaking, Japan has always been Nintendo’s stronghold, and after the release of the PS4 and Xbox 1, I don’t see that changing.

The reason Sony didn’t release the PS4 in Japan yet is because Christmas isn’t as big in Japan as it is in America and Europe. Another reason is that the launch line-up wasn’t too appealing for the Japanese market, so they postponed it and planned it for february, because then, a few JRPGs will be ready for the PS4. And we know how well JRPGs sell in Japan. So I wouldn’t be too sure of nothing changing when the PS4 is out.
I agree that Japan is the main market for Nintendo. But only for handhelds. Handhelds sell best in Japan, especially Nintendo’s. I’m not sure if it’s the same case with home consoles though.
