Eurogamer readers have gathered together to vote for their favourite games of 2013. Some of the games you’d expect to find on the list, but there’s also a few surprises too including Hotline Miami and XCOM. Interestingly there isn’t a Nintendo 3DS exclusive in the top ten, despite it being a great year for the platform. You can see the entire top fifty games as voted by Eurogamer readers, right here.

10. Hotline Miami
9. Spelunky
8. XCOM: Enemy Within
7. Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
6. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
5. Super Mario 3D World

  1. 3D World is tons of fun. Me and my friend are on the final level. Damn! Sorry I don’t normally use profanity.. Anyone want a hug?

  2. I can agree with a lot of those. The Last Of Us is by far the best game on this list, hands down. From what I’ve seen of Grand Theft Auto V it looks fantastic. Tomb Raider was another fantastic game, loved EVERY minute of it. Super Mario 3D World is a really great game, a step in the right direction for the Wii U. And Ni No Kuni was an absolutely amazing game with a unique and entertaining story as well as some solid gameplay. Really surprised Hotline Miami made it though, I got it for free from PS+ and wasn’t really THAT impressed with it. I feel like there were a lot of other games that were far better than it. I got pretty bored with it really quick.

  3. Why didn’t they announce 3D World breached a million units? Oh that’s right because its good news and because its good news the media rather burry it under rug.

    1. Also now that I played 3D world it is rather smart it doesn’t have online. Who wants wants to die and be revived at a flag pole?

I didn’t like what I played of last o us. Very dark, dreary, depressing, oppressive, heavy, completely unemployable experience to me. I have more fun playing Wii u golf online…..

  5. Ive completed the last of us. Honnestly this game is not goty, it is fun and nice but its nothing new… I felt like i was playing uncharted without puzzles. I wish it would have more infected in the game 75% of the game your shooting army/cops what ever they are….

  6. Ok. I can think of a hundred games that were better than Hotline Miami and Spelunky. Those were ok, but they were crappy little fifty cent games. The rest of the list looks pretty solid. I don’t agree with all of them, but I can see why they’re there, so i don’t have a problem with them.

          1. So, that’s you. I was just saying what they were to me. Obviously, everyone didn’t agree with me. That’s why they made the list.

            1. Is eric on crack? Hotline miami there wasnt many games that made me zone out and really get into it like that game. Then I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. But eric yours sucks!

  7. Finally someone included ni no kuni on their fucking list. seriously, has everyone forgotten about that game? as a huge fan of rpgs i must say that ni no kuni’s been one of the best I’ve played in years. it deserves to be in everyones top 10 list.

    1. It’s unfortunate that not too many people played the game and it came out really early in the year, so others forget about it. But yeah, it was a very charming game.

      1. shame, it sold really well in the Uk, outselling fifa and CoD on its first week of sales and reaching number 1 in february

        1. Yup. That’s how it usually turns out every year. Great games get overlooked because of these other “big” games. It’s a shame, really. I wish more people would support these unique titles. Better sales give devs more incentive to get out of this cookie-cutter pattern that the industry has.

    1. This Right here, and its not like i dont enjoy dying every couple of seconds because I honestly enjoyed the shit out of Hotline Miami. Spelunky just didnt do it for me, it felt like i had no objective, but to reach a higher score.

  8. I was going to say that there is some sort of manipulation here, but I thought about it and I think there’s another reason why this is happening.
I think Nintendo players are simply spending more time with their consoles instead of flocking to the internet to vote hundreds of times for their companies and games; I think we’re more interested in actually playing the games we praise on the internet than spending hours a day trying to justify them, which doesn’t really make a good case for things like The Last of Us if you think about it.
It’s kind of like with Lady Gaga, she seems to be topping every survey, but the actual critical reviews of her music are getting her abyssal scores, and that is simply because her fans seem to find it more entertaining to promote her than to listen to her, it’s the same, all these Sonysoft fans are more interested in promoting these games than actually playing them.
For that reason I decided I’d rather not bash TLoU but pitty it for not being able to hold it’s audience’s attention like any of the Wii U/3DS games have.
