Super Mario 3D World, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Nab Best Of 2013 Awards From IGN

IGN has deemed Super Mario 3D World the best Wii U game of 2013. The platformer was up against Rayman Legends, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Pikmin 3 and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. Meanwhile, the entertainment website’s favorite Nintendo 3DS game of 2013 is The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, which bested four other Nintendo titles – Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Pokemon X and Y. Both winners are also included in IGN’s list of nominees for the best overall game of last year.

    1. There’s about 5 of you that feel that way worldwide. You guys should form a therapy group and Skype together.

  2. I like my Wii U, I wish it came with a controller pro and a Wiimote plus nunchuck. I hope there is some cross play game with my 3DS in the near future.

  3. Wii U is better than everything except it isn't lmao

Wii U has like no games and the 3DS is only surviving because of 3D classics lmao I want to see where this is goind Nintendo sucks so much like lmao

    1. I guess this is the part where we are supposed to come changing in bringing up that fact that the Wii U has a library 3x the size of the XBOX One and PS4 combined, call you names, etc, etc.

Nope. Go to bed sonny. Grown folks are talking.

  4. I felt and gave fire emblem awakening the 3ds game of the year. It was packed with awesomeness and not really any flaws. Zelda is a great game, it’s just that “normal” mode is uber easy so the final boss was a joke. The story was solid, the item renting was decent and the out of order dungeons was amazing. But it came down to a dumbed down game for difficulty. Honestly hero mode should be normal and if they are so concerned, offer out easy mode off the bat.

Wiiu I felt the same. Super Mario 3d world is a fun game, but again uber easy for the main game. I picked wonderful 101 as game of the year since it provided a new ip and pretty stellar new experience. The controls were top notch and that was a much more difficult game throughout.

  5. Poor Fire Emblem: Awakening. It was probably one of the best games I ever played in my life and it was outshined by A Link Between Worlds according to many. Oh well, just goes to show the nostalgia behind Zelda is super strong. Which is great for Nintendo!

Would have liked to see Fire Emblem take away an award or two…

    1. I thought they were both fantastic. However, I did log 2-3x more hours on FEA. :p FE was beyond epic. Still, as you said, Zelda, when done right, always wins. I would have voted for Zelda, although I can’t deny how FEA just took gaming by storm.

  6. I will never understand why so many people praise Fire Emblem Awakening. I swear, I’m gonna have to play it some day just to see what’s so great. Because it looked stupid in the videos I watched of it.

    1. The story is fucking amazing. The only warning to you would be, it is turn-based strategy. If you hate that kind of game play, it will ruin the game for you.

    2. Characters are amazing, combat is amazing, art style is amazing, music is amazing, story is amazing, replay value is amazing…. The game is just goddamn amazing.

Best RPG I’ve ever played that’s for sure.

    1. Yeah, it’s almost as if people have already forgotten about Pikmin 3. I’m STILL waiting to play it. I don’t have a Wii U yet. Whenever Nintendo releases a new color of Wii U, THAT’s when I’ll buy one.

    1. I think Halo, as much as we hate to admit, has become fairly legendary, but NES games will always be the Greek-gods of gaming. ;D

    1. They could still win Game of the Year! It hasn’t been decided yet. Or IGN’s People’s Choice for Game of the Year.

  8. Fire Emblem might win IGN’s People’s Choice for Game of the Year. I see a LOT of people in the comments below saying “Fire Emblem GOTY!” Those comments also have the most likes.

    Fire Emblem deserves it.
