And have you even PLAYED 3D World or 3D Land? They feature similar gameplay, but 3D World has better levels (imo) and new powerups. And the Direct actually gave more important and interesting info on upcoming Wii U games. The 3DS had important info, just not as much. And 2013 had some amazing Wii U games. Pikmin 3, Wind Waker HD, Wii Party U, Super Mario 3D World, etc.

Think about the Wii. Everyone dissed on it and stated how “terrble” the graphics were and how it would fail quickly. Then, guess what happened? It DIDN’T fail, and instead undermined the shit out of the Xbox 360 and PS3 by using its so-called “gimmicky features” to bring a whole new depth and immersion into gaming that all the other knock-off motion-sensing controls for other consoles couldn’t beat.
3D World was better than Knack. Knack was a crappy, generic title that failed to be original, and played it much “safer” than nintendo’s exclusives.

what’s the difference between this & previous MK games other than slightly better graphics ?
More characters, more tracks, HD, new racing mechanics (like zero gravity racing upside down and on walls), new aesthetic changes (characters hold items before they throw them), the online “will” be 1080p at 60 fps (confirmed by the team working on MK8), and then there are many things we still don’t know.
Could there be new modes? (probably) Are there even more characters, items? (probably) Are there any other secrets? (probably)
The game is lookin mighty fine if you ask me. Also, sequels don’t have to be “different” from their predecessors or even “innovative” to it’s own franchise. Just as long as it’s fun…

improved physics engine, better online, different balance(in karts and items). improved, character animations, lots of little touches, new tracks, new retro track, gravity, new karts, new items( most likely will be shown), music,customization ect lots of things that changed. The main gameplay won’t change its the same since the first mario kart. This series comes only once per console, so it will awhile before 9, or 10. Pokemon has the same thing going for it, they just add new balance, and new pokemon to rethink stuff.
