French publication Gamesblog is reporting that there’s a second Assassin’s Creed game coming this year and it’s for “last-gen” consoles, which means Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The publication and Kotaku hasn’t heard whether this game will be coming to the Wii U. Ubisoft have already announced a new Assassin’s Creed game called Assassin’s Creed Unity which is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
“Comet will take place in and around 1758; that it will star a sailor named Shay who betrays the captain of his ship; and that it’s set on the Atlantic Ocean.Comet, GameBlog says, will continue the nautical theme established in last year’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.”
“This fall’s last-gen Assassin’s Creed will indeed be set in North America and star a protagonist named Shay, who is a member of the Templars, the assassin-hating order that has traditionally served as primary antagonist in the Assassin’s Creed games.”
“We also hear that Comet will let you go to New York and do a great deal of sailing along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. One source describes the game as a cross between Assassin’s Creed III and the Freedom Cry DLC for Assassin’s Creed IV. I’m pretty sure that’s ridiculously inaccurate. Assassin’s Creed has the advantage of being works on by a couple of teams at once, so they’re able to make alot of them at once. You can’t really call these new games “copy, past, release” because AC Unity has already been in d evelopement for 3 years, and I’m assuming this has had about the same time too. Though Comet sounds like a dumb name.

Yup. Once they get the hang of using a game engine it appears it becomes a matter of slapping in some new textures and levels and re release. I can almost understand one game a year, but when you start releasing two or three of the title per year it starts to saturate the market. It’s also one thing to release a game with characters from that world with a different game than it is to release the same game with just a different story. That’s why it’s not as bad when there’s a Mario kart, Mario 3D world, Mario party, and, Mario golf in the same year.

Well the GameCube did have more third party support and had exclusives from very popular game franchises such as Resident Evil and Star Wars, and had a price drop to 99$ in 2003.
This is what they need to do not only to ride the Wii U out, but to win the generation.
1) Buy Capcom, and get popular franchises such as Street fighter, Biohazard/Resident Evil, Megaman, and Devil may cry and much more.
2) Ditch the GamePad and give the Wii U a 100$ price drop following the release of Mario Kart 8
3) Spend millions on marketing the damn thing.

Nintendo need to push their first party content and stop begging western 3rd parties to come back to them, they were the ones who ported games from 2011 and expected people to play them again, Nintendo only lost 3rd party devs after 2 months of the consoles launch which is dumb, everyone followed EA because they were the first to stop supporting Wii U due to Nintendo not wanting to use Origin, they took a big sacrifice just to help the consumer and then get called out for it. I’m not saying they are golden, heck they haven’t even got a Metroid Game in the works which would do well with the “Mature” Gamer, not Hardcore, people just don’t get the definition of Hardcore Gamer which annoys me. And with the QOL they have coming, atleast they can focus on games on their consoles and the casual stuff such as Wii Fit and Brain Training into QOL. I hope Nintendo do well, it’s just dumb how everyone looks down on Wii U because it’s not “next-gen”, I’m sick of Graphics being the core of what makes a game good, sure they are important, but definitely not the number 1 concern. I’d also make the Wii U another 50$ cheaper and have a Mario Kart 8 Bundle, that would sell, just hope they aren’t going to have their heads up their arses about this opportunity.
Even the PS2 was the best selling 6th Gen System and that had the worst graphics of the 3 of them.
I agree that it sucks that third parties are treating Wii u unfairly and basically all jumping on the same bandwagon complaining of poor sales or graphics, but Nintendo still needs to suck up to them as much as they can. While they can survive without third party support, investors don’t want a company that merely survives and those jackals will eventually pick Nintendo clean by forcing them to do silly things like abandon consoles, make mobile games and make games for ps4 and Xbox one.
In business they need to make profit and if that means saying “thanks EA for abandoning us and making us look the fool, may we have another?” then they should. Business line this is sometimes like war, you can’t push away all those who’ve wronged you in the past or you may find you have few allies when the big guns come.
Some money needs to be thrown around, and if Nintendo can show they can bury the hatchet and get back into a good partnership with EA, that would ripple through the dev community.
I agree that they need to use the money to buy companies, even make partnerships, but EA were butthurt about Nintendo not taking Origins into account, good move by them btw. It is Japanese 3rd parties for the most part that are still making an effort to an extent, like Sega with Sonic and Capcom with Monster Hunter. It even seems that Ubisoft is cutting down support. Atleast it seems as if Nintendo are making a start with Hyrule Warriors. With the Wii, most 3rd party devs didn’t even make an effort, I know it wasn’t the most powerful of the 7th Gen, but seriously, show some effort, look at Sonic Colors, one of the better looking Wii Games.

I’m playing my first Assassin’s Creed game (A.C. III). I don’t care for the confusing story, but gameplay-wise, I’ve really been enjoying it. It’s very different from the first-party Nintendo games I usually play. The only parts I don’t like (so far) is the part where I had to shoot cannons at the enemy ship, and when it goes back to real time. I HATE the real-time sequences. I wish the entire game took place in the past.
I always hated games (or movies) that was based on a dream ( or out-of-body experience). You know, where everything that’s happening isn’t really happening. But the play control and nice graphics helps me to overlook this. I only hope Ubi-Soft doesn’t stop Wii U support. Because I was planning to buy A.C. IV whenever I finish A.C. III. And it would be a real shame if these two A.C. games is the only ones I’m ever able to play.

Good for you. It was fun and exciting when it first came out, now I think people are getting tired of the same thing, EACH AND EVERY YEAR. Its the same approach to gameplay; HIDE, CLIMB, ASSASINATE and RUN!!!!!!!!!!!! At least for the Mario games you get to see new approaches to game stages, new enemies and even new power ups. I have seen how the Mario games have evolve and its still evolving. Although Jumping and rescuing a princess or a star remains the same.
