UK Charts: Pokemon Y Re-Enters At 37, Only Nintendo Game In Top 40

This week’s UK charts are in courtesy of GFK chart-track. Nintendo have had a rough past couple of weeks but are now back in the charts once again, albeit with one game. Pokemon Y has abandoned its sibling, X, and has returned to the individual top 40, placing at 37. Mario Golf: World Tour hits the UK later this week on May 2, so hopefully next week’s charts will have a little swinging success for the 3DS title.

FIFA World Cup Brazil takes the top spot and climbs from its runner-up position last week, while Titanfall takes a back seat. There are no new games hitting the chart this week, but many have re-entered in the lull. Here’s the individual top 40.

    1. Maybe we shouldn’t nuke other countries because we don’t play the games they play? American charts aren’t much better in terms of variety.

            1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

              Nuke all Xbot territories…

USA, UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia and possibly the Moon…

            2. Nintendodrones are really that dumb, are they. Ironically you posted like a dumbass. That’s even more funny.

  1. [360] 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil
[PS3] 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil
    [PS4] FIFA 14

Britain broke like popcorn! FIFA, FIFA, FIFA and again … loool

  2. I think Sport games should not be called games. Those are just simulators of things you can do in real life. But it seems that all britans are just to lazy to go outside to play football … better play it alone in front of the TV.

  3. This is because Pokemon is a fantastical franchise which lingers in the hearts of even the lesser Nintendo supporters.

    1. Man they seriously lacking taste in video game? How the fuck is Ghosts still selling well over there when clearly its another half ass COD rehash that improved nothing, story is 4 hour dull moment and even lied about the “dedicated servers”.

      UK makes me sick…

      1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

Atleast CoD is still a game…

Fifa is the worst thing in the history of gaming next to ET along with every other Electron garbage sports…

        1. Whoa whoa whoa…Commander..saying COD is still a “game” is by far the dumbest thing you ever said..no offense.

COD is no different from EA Sports games.

          1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

Atleast you had some fun in one of those games…

Fifa is just the utter most crap thing yet…

      2. Once again XBOX taking over the charts… FIFA, COD, and GTA. What the fuck? XD I bet Sasori sure is happy right now. Sometimes I wonder what the hell goes on in UK gamers heads…

  4. I love football – Fifa is ok, but it’s really a separate category of gaming from the rest. As for the other games on the list, as usual it’s hard to pick out a good one. Pokémon, but other than that…

  5. I don’t have any issue with FIFA being number one, two or three. UK like Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Eire, Brazil, Argentina and so many countries in the world like football you may not like the sport or the game but fact is football is the sport number one in the world. It’s a big business!!! I would not be surprise it FIFA is number one in a lot of countries. It’s not just UK!!!!

    1. Playing FIFA with your mates it is actually a good fun and It is normal that these games sell well where we like “Futbol” a lot but… I guess the point here is why that many people buy the same game every year. I mean, I don’t think that updated teams and other minor updates are worth £40 (or whatever it cost)

It is this and people running crazy to buy re-releases from previous generations games (or ports) something I cannot understand… You can read them on internet saying “I already bought this game but if released on (insert console of your choice) is a day one purchased”

No wonder why we have extra mega ultra milked franchises so often… “we” get what we ask for.

      1. f*** How do I delete a post!!! Right I didn’t have my cereals this morning… please don’t spam me much lol

      2. I understand where you come from and myself the last FIFA I played was FIFA 2006 or FIFA 2007. I don’t understand COD and I really don’t get why people buy this franchise but I won’t sh*t on them.

For FIFA the only explanation I can give is that people watch football (men and teenagers) and when they don’t watch it, they play on video game or/and go outside and play on the field. If you are a football fan and happen to play video game then yes you are going to buy the last FIFA even if it means that David Moyes won’t be the MU coach for 2014-2015 season and one player will play be transfer from Barcelona to Real Madrid.

I stuck but that football fans for you. It’s not different than Japanese marketing where a Manga is adapted into an Animé which is then a video game (Dragonball, Naruto, One piece, Evangelion, Yuyu hakusho, Slam Dunk, GTO, Ranma 1/2, Sailor moon and so on and so on).

  6. So basically its FIFA and COD, what a surprise…. No wonder the UK market is a pile of shit. Same old same old every year. Gamers used to actually like a variety of games over here, now its basically the annual milkage of the same goddamn franchises. If its not the same again next year, ill eat my arm.

    1. IKR? This made me respect UK far more less than ever. All I see here is a bundle of crap software that happens to suck everywhere else but there for some dumb reason and I wonder what are the actual sales numbers in UK. Either way, it shouldn’t surprise me.

Thank god our colonials fought these dull bastards off our land for independence because we would’ve been as shallow and boring as UK by now when it comes to video games. Try sipping tea while kicking in front of that NSA camera that still doesn’t work for shit playing FIFA 14 that’s the same crap as the past 3 dozens of FIFA.

      1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

The colonials were basically nothing more than brittish people tired of taking orders from the empire…

So in a sense I don’t get why they praise them so much…

            1. I resent that. We’re basically stupid on a primitive level that some of us actually vote Neo-Nazis in offices despite knowing what they are first hand.

Our country isn’t as better than the rest. We’re all screwing and screwed up in our own ways.

      2. They’re “shallow” for playing a game series you don’t like? What does the Revolutionary War have to do with fucking video games? Why are you so angry that people you don’t know are playing a game based on the most popular sport in the world?

And without France, there would be no United States, so you can’t claim that we’re superior based on a war that was fought hundreds of years before you were even born.

Learn how to accept that people aren’t going to like the games you like 100% of the time. They buy updated versions of FIFA for the same reasons why you and others here buy updated Marios and Zeldas every year, to have fun.

        1. True. Without France, we wouldn’t have had the naval power to hold back the British ships that were trying to replenish their forces in the colonies. But! We did inspire them to take a stand against the tyranny within their own country, so we could say the United States is responsible for today’s France existing, if I’m remembering my history right.

          1. You are correct. The third estate beat back the nobles and executed the king, paving the way for the current France.

        1. Doesn’t matter. All these Nintendo haters see is just another generic Mario game. Or maybe it’s just sasori. lol

    1. That’s how much of a joke Titanfall is. Its just another overhyped FPS/COD knockoff supported by the damned EA.

    2. Both versions of this game are in the top five, there was no “destruction” here. The game has sold remarkably well.

      1. With this in mind… FUCK YOU, EA!!! I could see Fifa ’14 for Wii U being on that list in a high position if it was released on it. This entire time EA could have been helping Wii U sales but nope. Still being a child crying because Origin wasn’t allowed to infect the Wii U.

          1. No. The whole Origin ordeal was the sole reason why they’re being butthurt and not swallow their retarded pride to help Wii U take off.

  7. Wow…I get the sports games because UK is huge with Soccor but..man they got no taste. COD Ghosts on top 10? Titanfall? Those games are so garbage especially Ghosts being the worst COD since MW3 and…Kinect Sports?..nuff said. Now this changed my mind respecting UK as a gamer.

Let them enjoy their DRM cable box while they can oblivious to DRM itself.

    1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

You mean they enjoy things that can bscially not even be called games…

      Fifa garbage…

      1. FIFA I understand but everything else makes me wanna vomit blood. Gaming is so damn shallow over there.

And people wanna bitch that Nintendo does the same thing with “rehashing” their games and yet, they go buy the exact annually rushed crap somewhere else. People are truly this fucking stupid (like Sasori) nowadays Commander. Another gaming market crash is imminent.

          1. A video game market crash, when it happens, will definitely show who the big boys are when it comes to making consoles. My money is on Microsoft to drop out of the console race as they can still rely on PC for video games. If they drop out of the video game industry altogether, I hope they sell off the Rare titles to people that can save those titles. It’d be a shame if Microsoft kept those titles & let them rot into oblivion like EA has been doing with a number of games they own after buying up the small companies that owned them.

          1. You’re lucky I can’t kick your ass for saying that garbage out loud.

If I’m a fan of that Brokeback Mountain, then I’m a fanboy of Microsoft too which I’m not, not even being bribed or threatened.

                1. I love seeing posts like that. They think they are so much better than us. But the moment they come in here & type something like that, they officially became a so called keyboard warrior, too. If they really want to take the high road, it involves not posting at all.

  8. By the way, to all you lovely US people criticising the UK – great, you’re absolutely right and we deserve mocking. We’re a country of losers.

However, the explanation for these charts is not solely because of this. We love football, hell, I love football, so FIFA being on the list is no surprise. And to all of the rest? They are all there because of the Americanisation of our society. We buy all these awful games because Americans buy and love all of these games, and your deplorable culture has spread over here. The US charts show the exact same bunch of awful games. So rather than come here and start talking about how the UK sucks, how about you sort out your own house and then I can stick to mine!

    1. Buying a video game doesn’t make someone “deplorable,” and the United States never ruined your culture.
