Here’s Zelda’s Temple Of Time Recreated Using The Stunning Unreal Engine 4

Michael Eurek has managed to recreate the legendary Temple of Time using the spectacular Unreal Engine 4. The project was suggested by a friend who asked if he could recreate a classic game using Unreal’s latest graphics engine. Eurek set about creating the Temple of Time. The footage is captured from Unreal Engine 4 and Eurek says other software used was, Maya, Z-brush, and Photoshop.

“Several months ago, it was suggested to me by a friend that a fun/challenging exercise would be to recreate an environment from an old game I like using modern techniques. I thought this was a great idea, so I have put together a recreation and personal adaptation of The Temple of Time from The Legend of Zelda.”

      1. I think he’s trying to say Nintendo would have been able to devote more power to the Wii U, if the Gamepad wasn’t hogging resources from the console. Which is true, he just said it in more trollish language.

        1. No it’s not. Nothing in Unreal Engine 4 looks any better or worse than the graphics the WiiU already puts out. Stop being so fucking blind!

        1. you dickhead, even if the guy is well known to troll and come up with shit. there is no way it’s allow you (or any body else in that matter) make those kind of comments.Even if worse shit had been said on this blog.

        2. You’re a fucking scumbag, so not only is your opinion irrelevant, you’re worthy of being raped by 10 black men who tear your shithole up and leave you bleeding out in a ditch. Hope it happens tonight you fucking corpse.

        3. You’re opinion is irrelevant being black doesn’t mean his opinion isn’t relevant, for you to say that means you’re a ignorant white person who judges by skin color

    1. you can’t even have this on the PC, let alone any other of the next gen consoles
much too expensive to produce and much to expensive to render on these consoles

  1. Amazing! This person is very talented.
I like his vision, and Nintendo should take note here.
Hoping the new upcoming Zelda game looks something like this. Clearly it won’t use the Unreal 4 Engine, but the Wii U is capable of pulling off visuals roughly at this level, and a detailed realistic look would beat a stylized look for me at this point.

    1. im hoping for some realistic one but……not quite.
and yes indeed it CAN do something like this.

    2. Wii U could NOT pull these graphics off. Definitely not at 1080p anyway. Maybe at 500-600p UPSCALED to 1080p they might get decently close to this level (likely at 30-35 fps), but that’s about it.

You have to take into account that not only would there be this environment, but also a possibility of a myriad of enemies, effects (fire, combat effects, etc.) going on, as well as the gamepad hogging at least a good 15-25% of the Wii U’s processing power at minimum.

      1. Can’t tell what are your intentions but If you mean that the WiiU cannot render the above video at 1080p, I pretty much agree, If epic games was unable (or lazy enough) to optimize the UE4 for the WiiU, forcing it to do so won’t work.
But using a WiiU-Specific engine to create something as close to the above video at 1080p at 60FPS is pretty much possible, after all every WiiU game (first party anyways) has been played at 1080p 60FPS

  2. That person (whoever they may be) deserves a medal for this.

Complete talent there. I see no reason why UE4 cannot be supported for Wii U. It could easily pull this off. Too much potential just being wasted.

  3. This is plain stupid. It looks ugly as fuck. He’s miising the colors of the temple, it looks like spirit temple, if anything. Clunky, really clunky.

    1. You should consider making one yourself then given your far superior talent I would love to see that

  4. It’s cool and all but it looks lifeless (no disrespect to Michael Eurek , he is obviously talented).
But do people really want a realistic Zelda game? No unique art-style to bring out some character and life to the Zelda world?

That is a whole lot better than realistic. Honestly, I like to see style, art style, not “let’s put as much realistic detail as possible”, it pretty much feels like there is no inspiration if they went with a realistic art style, maybe that’s why I hated Twilight Princess’s art style.

      1. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

I love Twilight Princess as much as the next Zelda game, but I prefer my Zelda colorful. I’m personally tired of these people coming along wanting every big Zelda game to be realistic. They can go play Skyrim or something similar if they want realistic graphics for an adventure game.

      2. twilight princess didn’t have a realistic art style…

maybe more realistic-ish than other zelda games but definitely not “real” in its own right

    2. I personally want a realistic looking Zelda. And you don’t need an artsyle for it, it’s zelda.
You can’t mistake it for something else. Most all of Nintendo’s ips have an artsyle so one realistic one wouldn’t hurt anybody. And yeah this does look bland but that’s just the barebones of the temple, I would love it if looked somewhat similar to dark souls.

In the video you see the doors sliding apart to reveal the Master Sword in its pedestal. The doors really don’t look good. Not because of the creator of the video, but because Zelda doors really aren’t that practical in real life.

If Zelda were to be ultra-realistic, like a movie (way easier to make than a video game honestly), it would limit the creatures, villains, and character models (they’d probably get an ACTOR for Link which I’m personally against).

I want it to be sort of like Mario Kart 8, where you have a neat art style for the characters but realistic special effects. The environments should be a mix of both.

  5. This presentation (while giving credit to the artist for creating it), looks bland and unispired and lifeless to me and it also does not feel like Zelda at all. Art- Audiodesign and gameplay make a game. This industry does not need more and more shaders and improved visuals and blown up budgets for creating those experiences. It should concentrate on getting the formula right, not the looks.

  6. Looks amazing I would love to see Zelda like this at least one game( and no twilight princess does not even get close to this level) then it can go back to whatever cartoony art style they want to use. They really need that Zelda to show off the power of the wiiu anything less than what that demo showed back at e3 would be a huge disappointment

  7. Oh men this looks like skyrim and not zelda anymore :/ and dude I remember seen a comment saying” This makes my dick so hard but sadly miyamoto doesnt want to give ps4 x1 a chance so sad” It was literally like that. Oh men, graphics mean nothing. And the wii u mihgt not be able to pull this off, but I am sure I will still be impressed when they show off the next Zelda. It is sad how people instead of saying this looks impressive but they say nintendo is dead and they should port all their games to my ps4 …ZOMG and pokemon too best game ever!!!

  8. It is the best time to make some plans for the future and it’s time to be happy. I have read this post and if I could I desire to suggest you few interesting things or advice. Perhaps you can write next articles referring to this article. I want to read more things about it!

  9. This was done by a talented individual obviously, but it lacks character. They have the technical aspect down and now they need to show a little more inspiration. It doesn’t look or feel like Zelda

  10. Uh… The Wii U demo of Zelda looks better, has better graphics, lightning, and particles and all. People forget.

    1. No ….it doesnt. Its looks good but no way are tge texture as good as this in that tech demo. Still looks great though.

    2. Although at some points in this video ut does look worse but I wouldn’t want a realistic zelda anyway need it more colorful

  11. Eh, flashy, but doesn’t feel Zelda-ish at all. If anything it reminds me of the Red Keep of King’s Landing. Or the Sept of Baelor or something.

  12. pink0crystal0midbus

It looks beautiful I think this is only going to make us disappointed with the next Zelda game, because unfortunately I doubt it will have “realistic” looking graphics. For some reason Nintendo abandoned the awesome Twilight Princess feel and are sticking with the kiddie cartoony watercolor look :/

    1. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Good. Twilight Princess was a good game but it was bland looking. Want a realistic adventure game? Go run off to whichever system is getting the next Skyrim. Skyward Sword, Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time 3D, & Link Between Worlds. These are the artstyles where the true soul of Zelda shines best.

  13. I am actually happy to read this webpage posts which includes lots of useful facts, thanks for providing these kinds of data.

  14. As good as that looks, I never want to see a Zelda game look like that. It’s too real, it clashes with the creatures of the game, and the visuals of the world.

  15. I don’t like this at all. I’m 180% on board for an ultra-realistic Zelda title, but this could never be it. It has barely any color, is stiff, boring and its unemotional. You can easily tell its not made by Nintendo. There is no whimsy or wow factor.

  17. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t it too bad that the series creator wouldn’t like this, despite him being a fan of Skyrim?

Zelda feeling? Didn’t The Lord Of The Rings (film) have any emotional magic? How about a Zelda movie or better yet, a game with that very same feeling???

At least try it out…Wind Waker wasn’t so well received at first either you know.

  18. If that may be the case, why limit yourself to chatting or messaging fot it
special person you might have an eye on. It can also be aimed at letting you manage your Black
    – Berry files in a manner much like those on the PC, along using
the bonus of zipping and unzipping files.
Several people use the fruit being a topping on dishes, people utilize it to season meats,
and possibly one from the most favorite kinds of the
super berry is within juice form. Here, it’s also quite worth mentioning
that though people are interested in having this plant in their
homes, they do not do it as a consequence of several questions
    and concerns.
