NPD: Here’s The Best-Selling Games In The US During April

US software sales figures are now in from the NPD Group. The best-selling game in the United States during April was Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC game, Titanfall. Interestingly the NPD group also revealed that software sales at US retail declined 10 percent to $227.9 million for the month. However, it should be noted that Wii U software sales were up over last year by over 80 percent. Here’s the best-selling software in the United States in April 2014.

  1. Titanfall
  2. Call of Duty: Ghosts
  3. NBA 2K14
  4. Minecraft
  5. LEGO The Hobbit
  6. The LEGO Movie Video Game
  7. LEGO Marvel Superheroes
  8. The Amazing Spiderman 2
  9. Grand Theft Auto V
  10. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag

“Life to date, sales of PS4 and Xbox One hardware have more than doubled the combined sales of PS3 and 360 hardware through their first six months of sales,” said NPD analyst Liam Callahan.

“PS4 software combined with Xbox One software sales are up over 40 percent compared to sales of the PS3 and Xbox 360 through their first six months. Wii U software sales were up over last year by over 80 percent,” he continued.

    1. Minecraft appeals to all ages though unlike Titanfall or CoD. Haven’t you seen the HUGE amount of kids and youtubers playing it? Lol.

      1. But it’s been out for a loooooooooong time and the fact that people are still buying it to this day is incredible

Damn! Lego sure was hogging up the 5-7 spots they were in! xD And why am I not surprised that Titanfall for the Xbox One is the best selling game in my country of the States!? Typical of my country, apparently. No matter. This should change once Mario Kart 8 releases. At least it damn well better, anyway!

It should be expected, though. Especially in the United States where these types of games most likely sell the most in.

I like a good shooter game myself every now & then but a yearly released one? I’ll pass. I miss Medal of Honor.

          1. Dude I know! We need a good WW2 shooter again. And Weighted looked like it was gonna be pretty good and then EA fired the director of the game for some stupid reason.

        2. I don’t think shooters have always been huge here, that kinda started with xbox and the 360 further pushed the shooter genre. sure there were classic pc shooters but when you think of gaming in the 80s and 90s shooters weren’t as huge. I could be wrong, but when I think of gaming here until xbox, it was all fighting, racing, platforming, puzzle, and rpg.

          1. Ever since Goldeneye shooters have been popular where i lived, but it definately wasn’t the dominant genre.

The 9/11 tragedy also fueled their hatred to unreasonable levels and these yearly released games are basically propganda for American patriotism…

              1. I don’t blame them, 9/11 was very tragic and surprised us because it was the first time we were attacked.

The question still remains though, who really attacked you…

I find the lack of skepticism amongts Americans disturbing…

Their biggest enemies has always been their own goverment…

                  1. I know what you’re talking about, really i do. But i won’t say anything because alot of people here get offended. Many people argue if it was the governments doing, or our enemies. I usually try to stay away from discussions like this.

                      True, let’s stop here then…

Anyway, let’s hope MK8 turns the tide for us and unless youäve read it, I finally will get my Wii U in a few weeks…

                2. I believe the proper term is ‘nationalism’. There’s nothing inherently wrong in being patriotic, in loving one’s country. However, believing one’s culture &/or country are superior to all others is unlike patriotism, & very dangerous. Yeah, yeah, semantics shmantics, you already understand that, but I just wanted to point that out so there’s no confusion.

& I’m from the U.S.A., but when I say I’m ‘American’, I’m compelled to consider myself as a part of the other countries & cultures in North America, even Central & South (although I’m more inclined toward Eastern philosophies). Then of course the global picture develops in my mind. Alas, I think I’m in the minority, & the term ‘American’ has the opposite affect, instead generating arrogance (albeit subconsciously), or nationalism. Put another way, when the name ‘German’ is used in a WWII context, it has a negative connotation, yet not all Germans were Nazis or believed in that evil doctrine. Perhaps semantics are important & using shorthand isn’t so innocent.

Oh yeah, something-something video games, something-something Nintendo. I’m not much for FPSes either, though I enjoyed Red Steel 2, the FPSA Metroid Prime (particularly 2), & whatever genre Killer7 is. But gun fetichist, or overall fascist, I am not.

                  Batman: Gothan Knight – Deadshot:

Alfred: [about Bruce’s gun collection] It’s a bagful of tragedy, sir. I can’t see how you could even bear to handle one.

Bruce: You have to know your enemy, Alfred. I’d never use one, but even I can appreciate the attraction of a gun. The heft. The sleekness. The cool steel. The precision. And the power. The power to change lives, history. The power of God.

                  Star Wars Episode IV:

“This is the weapon [light saber] of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster; an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.”~Obi-Wan Kenobi

& I’ve great respect for the British, particularly their refusal of the crossbow when it seemed all of Europe started using them, in some cases against the British. The crossbow was far quicker than the longbow, but it was comparatively atrocious. A damn shame that chivalry is so rare. Ah, when leaders would meet on the battlefield to discuss terms. I condemn war, but it used to be civilized, considering its nature. Even siege weapons, for all their destructive capabilities, had inbuilt restraints. Modernity & warefare is reptilian. I much prefer RPGs & Fantasy Adventures than FPSes. I prefer an elegant warrior to a steroidal soldier.

        1. It’s almost certain that Mario Kart 8 will be the best selling game for weeks, Nintendo better advertise the hell out of it.

    2. Titanfall best sells for the month…it’s rubbish!

And Mario Kart 8 will not be best-selling at all. It releases at the same time as Watch Dogs I believe, which will unfortunately heavily outsell it.

At least Wii U software sales are up by a lot, but they need to go up by a lot more!

      1. Actually, I think I’m gonna have to agree with you there. The game’s been advertised everywhere. I’ve even heard my classmates saying that they need to get that game. Even my cousin pre-ordered it. Unfortunately, I only have a Wii U, so I’m gonna have to wait. It sucks though because I’ve been waiting for Watch Dogs since forever… :(

          1. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

According to Hollow, many of the people he knows are Sony & Microsoft players, thinking Nintendo is stupid because of the Wii U’s name. If I’m recalling some of his old posts correctly.

      1. Ignore me please, I was having fun banging with my grandma, guess I hit the poppies a little bit too much. Look! my dick’s getting erected right now!

                      1. Hmmm, No, not really…accept here recently. been getting out of touch with gaming because of jobs and this site that even my own brother can beat me, but it doesn’t worry me.

“winning is not always winning, defeat give you more”. Meaning, you lose, you learn from you’re mistakes. as long as that is in my mind, I will not fall to a little whiny bitch like sasori was. It also keeps me ahead of my foes, calm mind, and keep on gaming no matter what system or game it is.

                      2. Oh and the best part is…I always have fun…so you can say that little saying has…”grown” to me so to say. heh heh heh, so I’ll say it again, its going to be hard to break me but you’re welcome to try.

                    1. Yes. Some people make mistakes. Some people lose, but they do not learn from their mistakes.. That is not right.

I too have had many battles with my friends in the parties of Mario, and I have kept calm while they agonized in defeat. One day we shall have a true party. You seem like a formidable foe that I must battle in the future..

But alas, I too am very busy. Majoring in Computer Science is what some people say, a bitch..

    6. Nintendo have again dropped a huge clanger, Mario Kart 8 should have been released in March not the end of May.
They had an epic fail when they decided to launch Mario 3D World on the same day PS4 launched in UK and Europe and then wonder why it sold like crap.
Again they are releasing Mario Kart 8 a few days after watchdogs which is insane.
Watchdogs pre orders are huge and will take a way a lot of Mario Kart 8 thunder.
Silly idea again from Nintendo which wlll back fire big time when it will easily get outsold by Watchdogs.
