Reports are circulating on Twitter and Reddit that a number of stores in and around Paris have begun to sell Mario Kart 8 early. Mario Kart 8 isn’t supposed to be released until May 30th. But once one store sells it early the others invariably follow suit.

This happened with X/Y. You can’t blame the other stores who followed, because they wouldn’t be able to sell their copies if they waited till the release date. But Nintendo ought to punish the first store to sell early.

Australia’s Big W is also selling it, I’d go and get it but EB Games is selling the limited edition and I’ve preordering that since February.
Since “February”…sounds like a lie to me because it should have been paid by now….unless, your wanting your relatives to buy it for you.
I don’t think Nintendo is currently in a position to punish any retailer. Nintendo needs them to to keep WiiU in stock. Maybe a few talks here and there to persuade a few heads of big retailers to do something, but that’s about it.
Nintendo won’t always be the lowest seller. Besides, they did the same thing with Pokémon and the 3DS was doing fine at the time.

They actually can. The online servers were turned on weeks ago, even the Miiverse communities have been open since like, the 2nd of May (sometime around then).

Look at it this way – if this is happening, that means the game is in high demand, just like X/Y. So technically it’s not all bad :P plus I’m sure we can all wait 3 more days xD

Not everyone is great at Geography. I used to think Alaska was an island next to Hawaii and that the United States was like it’s own continent, because States were bigger than most countries so I was like, “How could the U.S be one country?”
I also thought Mexico was in South America, Australia was a small island, I thought China was small too, I thought Germany was an island next to Greenland and I still don’t know what countries are in Europe. I literally thought Europe was another name for England or something, but now I know it’s like a lot of countries. I was also confused about the Middle East. I thought it was it’s own continetn or something, I didn’t know it was part of Asia.
Well, needless to say, Geography is hard stuff to learn and if you are never taught it, then you’ll have a warped vision on what the world really looks like. Now, I know how wrong I really was and I don’t think these things anymore.

If you don’t put in the time to memorize geography, then you don’t know it, plain and simple, regardless of your intelligence.

If anything, the correct word would be “ignorant,” because he is literally “lacking knowledge.” But ignorant, again contrary to what you may believe, is “not” synonymous to stupid.
If you don’t know something, because you were never told or never acquired the information for one reason or another, then you don’t know something. Doesn’t make you stupid, it makes you uninformed a.k.a ignorant.

Yeah, you remember it for an hour and then you forget it all. Geography is a LOT of memorization and memorization doesn’t just come from 5 minutes of work. Plus, not everyone looks at a map, because every day life doesn’t require you to.

Anyway, yup, I’ve been playing the game for quite a few hours ! It is sincerely great and fun. I’m very tired so I don’t get to enjoy it as much as it deserves, but I still manage to find so much stuff to love. There constantly is things in the background, the music is gorgeous, the graphics tend to go a bit overboard regarding bloom and yet they are charming and frankly just wondrous. I’m loving the game so far, and I only played on 50cc ! Which is waaaaay too easy mode. Like, I haven’t been anything but first and getting three stars on each cup is very simple. I expect the 150cc and mirror modes to be incredibly harder… and therefore, incredibly more fun !
Rly? 150cc was never a problem to me even when I was 11. Is it real hard? Like f-zero gx hard mode?
Oh, forgot to mention : getting the game early earned me the collector edition, sure, but also a golden mushroom (some little goodie)… but, most importantly, it cost me 80€ instead of the usual 70€ ! I hesitated a bit before purchasing it, but eh, it was only 10€ and it got me to enjoy it right away.
Ah ! Something EXTREMELY important too ! Apparently, if anyone gets the game early, DO NOT register it on the club nintendo before the 30th ! If I got it right, you will not get the free downloadable game with the MK8 code ! I’d assume even if you got the game on the 29th or something the same would happen, so wait a bit before entering the code !
Not like it matters. We have all seen the millions and millions of gameplay footage of each and every track, character, race kart, in the game.

No there is absolutely nothing, because all the people who got the game early to review have all the full content on the game. It is “their” copy after all. It wouldn’t make sense to review only part of a game and make them go out and buy another copy.

when watch dogs outsells mario kart 8 lol. ive been playing ghost recon future soldier and that game is sooo fun and great. i love how its a third person shooter and sometimes acts like a first person shooter. great game from ubisoft.

The saddest part is that no, nobody’s gonna get fired. French retailer Fnac has been systematically doing this for years. It’s been a long time since I last had a game on actual release date. I always go there and get the games earlier.
Nintendo France, however, are more and more aware of the situation, since I know a few people working there and report it to them every time.
It’s totally worth a few days’ wait for the unmitigated glory of not having to be a Frenchman.
