Miyamoto Says Star Fox Wii U Has Been In Development For Many Years

Shigeru Miyamoto has explained that the leaked Star Fox Wii U has been in development at Nintendo headquarters for quite some time. The game was originally developed for Wii, but they decided to bring the game to Nintendo’s latest home console, Wii U.  The reason they decided on Wii U was because Miyamoto believed that the project worked best using the GamePad.

We originally began working with Star Fox back on Wii, and we had a small group of people experimenting with it for many years, maybe about six years, but we didn’t find an idea that really brought that together for the Wii. So instead we moved experimentation to the Wii U using some of the same assets. It’s been maybe 6 to 10 months that we’ve been experimenting with it.

          1. I agree, but Nintendo is trying new things to generate Hype. I don’t think something this big was done accidentally either. Both sound logic, we’ll never know, BUT!!!!!! We’re getting STARFOX U!!!!!

Starfox, Zelda, Potential Metroid and maybe 2 other secret games plus all known games to come…

All of these eclipses everything the Xbots and Sonyans showed yesterday combined…

            2. Yeah I see what you mean. Previous Nintendo games were big but were never leaked. I’m just looking forward to what else is in store!

              1. It got everyone talking and I bet a lot more people will tune in now after reading info flying around on the internet saying NEW STARFOX leaked, official announcement in less than an hour!! lol, who knows, but it is an awesome day!

  1. They held back from us?! Well, I guess they did it with Pikmin 3 as well and it ended up being a great game.

    1. AND Zelda. And a new Smash Bros character and potentially a few other games *HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE *

  2. I’m happy, but at the same time this ruins a certain surprise. Sure, video will be better than just three screenshots, but…

Considering it’s one of the few forces out there that still supports us, I’ll gladly support it…

Plus I’ve been involved with your empire ever since the Ancient War…

            I had respect for both…

  3. if it doesn’t have online dog fights with voice chat it really doesn’t matter it’ll be a four hour game and this is coming from someone thats a diehard starfox fan.

    1. I don’t even care what it is. The only Starfox I’ve ever played is Starfox Adventures. And whatever the next one is will most likely be completely different. So either way, it’s a new experience for me. I could get Starfox 64 to see what’s it’s like, but old games really do not work well at all with me. Just like how I download Mario Kart 64 after I played 8. I’m like “Lol. This is what it was like before?”

      1. Dude. Starfox 64 has withstood the test of time. Seriously, do yourself a favor and get it right now on the eShop, or for 3DS. Seriously

  4. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLOLOLOL

  5. YES!!! I’ve been waiting SO long for this!!

It kinda looks like the 3DS remake’s take on the series, does that mean Krystal won’t be in it? :(
I really hope she’s still apart of the team!!

  6. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!! I hope krystals in it and includes a better version of assults ground missions

  7. They wouldn’t cut her from the team would they?? :(
That doesn’t seem like something Nintendo would do

  8. I’m really hoping this isn’t a remake of 64…because it looks like it is.

If Nintendo thinks of saving the Wii U with a game that people played two decaudes ago, and have already replayed 3 years ago…then damn.

  10. I want the game to look like sf64 but in hd…. starfox 64 2 with 4 player co op with live cam feeds of your friends/team and 4v4 team battles…… this is really how Star Fox should be in this day and age

  11. Now N Runs It. You know Nintendo wasn’t smart enough to think that for Starfox Development during Wii’s time. That’s why Wii U can’t support 4 GamePads. Nintendo is dumb like that. Nintendo waits for complaints on Miiverse toake changes years later. Then by the time the years pass by, new technology arrives and they are just making changes you asked for 6 years ago.

Just like Pikmin 3 and we all know how amazing that game turned out, so this Star Fox game is going to be fantastic! Especially because it has Miyamoto’s magic touch.

    Can’t freaking wait.

IKR?! It’s going to be glorious. 6 years of development time is what makes Nintendo games better than EA and Ubisoft games which only get 2-3 years of development time (sometimes less).

      1. Ignoring Ubisoft doesn’t make hardware so its easier for them to make software faster. They don’t have to buy new technology from IBM every 4 years to develop new hardware and make future and current software tittles.
