Capcom Hasn’t Any Plans For Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate On Wii U

Yuri has told fans on the Capcom Unity boards that they haven’t any plans to develop a Wii U version of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Instead, we will have to make do with Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on the Nintendo 3DS, which launches sometime early next year.

“Sorry, no Wii U version planned for this one…
But with it having online on the 3DS (for the first time in the series!) you can possibly play online anytime and anywhere you have access to wi-fi.”

  1. A little bit of bad, but MH3U is still strong, the 3DS was the console in the need for a MH game with multiplayer online that did not need a homeconsole for that.

  2. Well we knew this already but it sucks to hear confirmation. I mean I have both Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U and 3DS (even though I have the 3DS version still in the cylophane). I love the 3DS, but for a game of this caliber, I would prefer to have at least a Wii U version as well. I’m still getting this game day one and I know I will love it. I’m a huge Monster Hunter fan.

    1. Let’s be honest if they did have plans, now wouldn’t be the time to announce it anyway. It would impact the sales of the 3ds version.

  3. They did the same with MH3U on the WiiU… Maybe after the 3DS version has released it will be comming out after all. :P

  4. well that stinks for those who wanted it on wii u. i only have a 3ds so im still getting it. however i wonder if they will use the circle pad pro for this one. i loved using it on mh3u for 3ds for the camera and especially for the underwater parts; made it alot easier to swim, fight, camera, but seeing as this new doesn’t go underwater i wonder if im force to use that lame “touch screen d-pad” for the camera this time around :( i wished they had more games that used the second analog stick or built it in when they made this system. i love my 3ds xl but that empty space kills me!!!

  5. Honestly? This talk of skipping……so shameful. Just because it isn’t in HD you guys don’t want to play it? REALLY? There are more portable MH games than console ones, so this really should come as no suprise at all, especially when you add on the fact that MH4 released last year in Japan was a 3DS exclusive as well……

    1. I’m skipping it because I was never interested in this series. Lol. But MH4 on Wii U might get me interested.

    2. its the fact that not everyone has a 3ds to play it on, i honestly don’t like hand held as much as a system, and they honestly should have released it for both and cross consoled it for online so everyone can still play together

      1. You have the 3DS confused with the Wii U. There are more people with the 3DS than the Wii U, sadly.

    3. The controls are shit on 3ds, if they’re anything like 3, and people prefer playing a game on a larger screen.

Opinions on something you must spend your money on isn’t shameful, telling people they’re shameful for not wanting to buy something they don’t want to is.

  6. That’s a shame :( I don’t have a Wii U but it would have been an excellent title for it to have, not to mention it would drive sales exponentially.

  7. Sorry Capcom, I won’t be able to play anywhere there is wifi as I don’t own a 3ds and won’t, so I won’t be playing this title at all. They could easily do another lazy port to Wii U… oh well there are many developers who want Wii U owners to enjoy their games.

  8. Well hopefully the Wii U will get Frontier G sometime next year… Still gonna play the hell out of this one though.

  9. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Good. I already got Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for my Wii U which most likely still has tons of people using it. I could use a 3DS exclusive Monster Hunter for my 3DS. And no, I’m not getting Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for 3DS when it’s roughly the same exact game just with a different gameplay style. Least SSB 4 3DS is going to have different game modes (like Smash Run) & different stages (like the New Super Mario Bros 2 stage) that won’t be in the Wii U version.

  10. it will make sense for Capcom to do a multi-platforme game on home console rather than making an exclusive. I would not be surprise if they make a version for the vita which starts to sell in Japan. To be honest Capcom needs to have new IP (RPG games) or make a new gargoyle’s quest….

  11. Monster Hunter has pretty much been a handheld experience for years now.

People routinely get the wrong impression that you cannot have a real “grand” experience on a handheld title, but MH has been delivering one time and again.

  12. I’m hoping that they’ll still see sense and release on the Wii U eventually. Releasing these sort of games for a handheld device is just insulting. Just when did handhelds start becoming a serious option for anything besides Pokémon anyway?
