Here’s A Look At The Amiibo Figures And Packaging

amiibo_peach_villager

NeoGAF member VinnyGambini has posted a range of Amiibo Nintendo figures and packaging for you to lust after. There’s Pit, Kirby, Pikachu, the Animal Crossing Villager, and finally Peach. All of the NFC Amiibo figures shown will be compatible with Super Smash Bros on the Wii U. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime says pricing should be comparable to NFC toys from Disney and Skylanders. So they should be roughly $10-$15.

  1. I wonder how much they retail. And I wonder if Ninty might offer a SSB bundle with one to start people off?

Yes, I only have Mario Kart at the moment with ZombiU on its way…

I only got ZombiU because I wanted it before the Ubisoftians turned their back on us…

And I’ll choose Pikmin 3 as my free game…

            1. These things aren’t for me. I’ll buy the luigi figure but that’s it. They look good in the screenshots. At $10-$15 though I’ll pass on collecting. If pokken fighters does exist though they’ll probably make you buy a figure of your fighter so I’d have to buy one then too.

It’s not a scam… a scam is not knowing that you are being cheated, but anyone who buys an amiibo knows full well what they are buying and that they don’t have to buy them to experience everything a game as to offer.

        2. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

For a real scam, try looking at some of EA’s titles. Like Mass Effect 3 with the original, horrible endings before the free DLC came out (which is still bullshit, free or not) & before anyone knew that the 3 alternate endings were going to be the same exact thing but in 3 different colors. Now that’s what you call a scam.

      1. Not bad, but hopefully the games nintendo puts out to use it for will be worth the money spent on these figurines…

        1. Valve Admiral GLaDOS

Yet you bought a Skylanders figure because you liked the toy. Exposed.
Also, you hid that youtube comment 2 minutes later because you remembered how hypocritical you sounded.
          Exposure to the max.

        2. That’s stupid. Why you are making a big deal about figurines and your stupid ass bought sky lander toys?. That’s dumb.

        3. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Apparently you forgot our conversation from the last time. They are figurines. And you said it yourself that figurines aren’t toys. Now shut up, Meg.

      1. pink0crystal0midbus

Yeah, so hopefully the Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Yoshi and Wario ones work with both Smash Bros and Mario Kart, then all you have to do is buy more amiibos for Mario Kart like the Koopalings and stuff.

  2. Very interested in the cross game use of the figures.

I imagine they well retail around the 5$ mark, bit I also suspect they will be like skylanders and include a 3 pack with a discounted 12$ price tag.

  3. They look pretty cool! I played Smash yesterday and it was awesome! There was well over a hundred people at my event compared to like 50 at the event last year. It was amazing!!!

  4. Hope they dont cost as much as the skylander do. Those thing took pointless dlc to a whole new lvl.

  5. I’m sad that it isa plastic case because you can’t show off the box in a cool way. (Yes I do that, I have all boxes of my consoles and controllers nicely arranged on top of a closet just because I can and I am making a fist world problem out of this.)

  6. I wonder if you can use the villager one for Animal Crossing U to visit someone’s town like you could on the Gamecube with a second memory card and on the Wii by using the DS.

  7. Hmmm it sais Smash Bros instead of Smash Bros for Wii U. I wonder if you can use them for the 3DS version as well when they release that NFC adapter for the 3DS. And why does it even say Smash Bros? That makes it seem like it’s only for that game.

    1. Oh wait it’s probably just because the models are based on the Smash Bros models. It’s still confusing, though.

  8. pink0crystal0midbus

Oh crap! That’s a lot of money.. damn. If I want them all, it’s gonna be some serious cash.

At least these figurines look like real high quality stuff. Definitely more so than the Skylanders figurines.

    1. pink0crystal0midbus

I mean, think about it. There were over 40 characters in Brawl and there will certainly be more in SSB4… so $10-$15 per figurine pushes you well over $400 to collect them all…

      THAT’S CRAZY!

            1. pink0crystal0midbus

Explain to me how you know this information, because Nintendo has yet to tell us. Stop and think before insulting someone or you yourself will end up looking “retarded.”

        1. Valve Admiral GLaDOS

And you will buy a game for a system you don’t have, you as well will support a system you don’t have. Exposed twice.

  9. $10-$15? What a rip-off. I hope that’s not the same in Euro’s. I was hoping to get them for €5 each. It will probably be €10 now.

  10. too expensive … they should be $5 each and they should release a lot of them … i wouldn’t mind spending a few hundred dollars if it meant getting a few dozen of these … but $15 makes me consider getting 1

    1. Not really. It’s a figurine that any collector will gladly pay even 20-30 bucks for. And you can use them for video games thanks to the chip inside them. Did you even watch the Nintendo E3 Direct explaining how they work? 10 to 15 bucks is more than reasonable. Now if you have Cindyaa’s problem of having to spend most of your money on your home, I can understand you finding 10-15 bucks too much.

  11. Nice, I want to have at least one of these..
hum, in my country a unique skylander figurine costs 25 – 30 dollars, I hope nintendo ones won’t be more than this

  12. I think these are a really good idea. And 10 to 15 bucks a pop isn’t that bad either. Imagine using the villager or samus in Mario kart? That’ll be awesome!

  13. Plus they look amazing and the technology used in them Nintendo would be losing money if they sold them for only 5 bucks

    1. I remember people like you mocked the rumble pak on the N64. Once Sony did it no one bitched about it. Wii introduced the Wiimote. Once Sony copied the criticism stopped. When the Wii U introduced the 2nd screen the haters bitched but once Sony copied it stopped. Nintendo introduces Amiibos and haters bitch now what will happen next? Any guesses?

      1. Could it be that Sony will copy, show of their “Amiibo” figurines at E3 2015 and announce to the world that they thought of it first. The following year some small company that nobody has heard of/Philips/Samsung/Apple will file a lawsuit against Nintendo along the lines of “we filed a trademark back in 1986 for toys that could be scanned into a controller like device with motion sensors that could then be played in a virtual environment, we demand that Nintendo stop selling the Wiimote in North America and pay us $30 million in damages and compensation.” And that friends is what will probably happen.

        1. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Yeah. There is going to be someone desperate for money, or more money, and try to sue Nintendo. I’m glad Nintendo has a good relationship with Activision & Disney, so I don’t see them trying to sue over it.

          1. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Then again, we never know. They might get a new, greedy CEO in the next year that will do just that. xD

      2. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Wait. People actually dissed the N64’s Rumble Pak? Wow. xD Of course, I didn’t have the internet at the time so I couldn’t see the amount of crybabies mad that Sony didn’t do it first.

  14. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

10-15 bucks in my country, eh? I can deal with that. It’s not like I’ll be going out & buying every single one of them, anyway.

    1. pink0crystal0midbus

No it’s not, but you don’t need amiibos to select a character to play as in Smash Bros… so I don’t really understand your comment, unless you think you need to buy these figurines to play Smash Bros in which case you are severely mistaken.

  15. Nintendo Knight Equilibrium

I’ll be collecting all of them, hope they have it all at once so I can buy it right away

  16. Amiibo is better and more worth the purchase of Skylanders and Disney Infinity, simply based off the fact that they have multiple uses for multiple video games.

  17. I may even get them for collecting purposes. They are so awesome looking! I wonder how much $$ one would be, because I’m going to go broke. lol

  18. Man, I was wanting to buy two of every figure. So I can open one and keep the other brand new. But at these prices, It’ll take forever just to collect one of each. Oh well. One is better than none.
