A flyer from this year’s World Hobby Fair suggests that there is another playable character in Smash Bros Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The World Hobby Fair, which is taking place in Japan, ends tomorrow, so there’s a distinct possibility that the mysterious character will be revealed then. Most people seem to be speculating that it’s either Shulk or Chrom for the reveal. Hopefully we will find out soon.

Falcon himself was revealed February 22nd, while Brawl released on March 9th.
The american release was March 9th. It came out in Japan before that and C. Falcon wasn’t announced at that time.

No, Ridley is going to be a stage hazard, considering that his shadow was seen in the video about stage hazards.
If you saw the Smash Bros Direct months before e3, then you’d know that Ridley’s shadow was shown in the Metroid Pyrosphere stage when Sakurai was talking about Stage Hazards. Even Sakurai once got a question about Ridley being a playable character for a smash bros game and he laughed as a response. I hate to be rude, but I am so sick of hearing about Ridley for Playable Character when it’s been evident time and time again that he isn’t. In the words of Iwata, Please Understand!

I think it depends how much they’re liked as an assist trophy and the fan demand of course. Little Mac made it from an assist trophy in Brawl to a fighter in the Wii U version so I definitely wouldn’t count Lyn out. That being said, it will be a lot tougher for her to get out after being in it for two games in a row

I can see Micaiah in Smash. For whatever reason I never thought of her. Good idea. But like you said, a lot of characters from Fire Emblem would be a good fit for the game. I guess I just focused on Lyn because she happened to make an appearance twice in the game already as an assist trophy.

As much as I like Fire Emblem and Chrom, I would rather see Shulk be the next fighter. Xenoblade Chronicles was a wonderful game and I’d like it to get more recognition, and X will be coming out not long after so it just makes sense to get it hyped up.

That’s BS. Instead of Zero Samus, it should’ve been Dark Samus as playable. Metroid Prime never got any true recognition in Smash besides one stage in Brawl. Samus design never took Prime’s style from Brawl which would’ve been a great time to give credit for Prime trilogy to establish the series into the 3D age.

Why clones? Mewtwo, shadow, ridely and roy are fine, but dr. mario pichu,toon link and wolf? Such wasted space on better, more original characters. Plus Mario series has way too many reps as is. Roy is pushing it a little too as another clone. I love Wolf but he’s a clone despite what people say. His smash attacks are different but special attacks are very similar. Gun? Check. Reflector? Check. Up B move that goes in the direction you hold it? Check. (Just cause it’s a combo kick instead of a fire fox doesn’t mean it isn’t practically the same thing). Left/right B move that makes you go fast in that direction? Check. (Just cause it goes up diagonally and has a potential meteor hit don’t mean it ain’t almost the same). I’d be down for the clones IF they ened up with a 60+ roster though.
I just love clones! For example, I may love Mario’s moveset, but I just don’t want to play as him too often. Then I can switch to Dr Mario or Malleo or Paper Mario or something. Clones give you a lot more options. Now, I can see why people don’t like them, but I doubt that it requires a whole lot of processing power to add them so they wouldn’t really end up destroying too many spots

There’s still quite a few characters in the game that haven’t been announced yet- This way this article is worded makes it look like we thought we had the complete roster. The guy who confirmed Megaman, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pac-Man, Palutena, Miis, and Little Mac ALL BEFORE THEY WERE REVEALED also said that Chrom, Chorus Men, and Shulk will all be new playable characters too. I think we can trust this guy by now. Also, it’s safe to say that Ness and Captain Falcon will be back since they are from the original 12. We can also predict Ice Climbers will be back since one of their enemies is making an appearance in Smash Run. That leaves 6 more characters that are pretty safe to say will be in the game (AT LEAST! Remember we still haven’t heard anything about Wario, Falco, etc and they are very likely too).

I always felt Chrom would be better suited as an alternate costume for Ike since they have roughly the same body build. As for Marth’s alternate, I can see it being Lucina since she has roughly the same body build, minus the boobs which aren’t that big to begin with, as him.
And that’s only if Sakurai doesn’t have Chrom actually planned as the first 3rd playable character.

Kidding aside, if you noticed, the question mark i next to newcomers and guest characters, so presumably that would narrow it down to a new character, as I doubt there are any more guest characters. That said, I think that narrows it down considerably. If I were to go by the most prominent leak, the Gematsu leak, Shulk, Chrom and the Chorus Men are all playable. So, it would have to be one of those three, and I’d put money on it being Chrom, if anyone. I love deducing things!

Well, since there are exactly 6 question marks, I think we could assume the character has a 6 letter name. Since the names are in japanese it can’t be any of the Gematsu leaked characters, since Chrom is Krom in japanese, Shulk is Shuruku, and I don’t know the Chorus Kids japanese name, but I doubt it is less than 7 letters.
Regarding veteran options, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon and Ness won’t be announced as usual, and the only veteran with 6 letters is Mewtwo, japanese name being Myūtsū. The only other option with 6 letters than I can guess is Ridley, japanese name Ridorī.
You can’t have a Smash Bros. Game with out Jigglypuff. She grew upvin Smash since 64. When I first got her I questioned myself of all the 150 Pokemon at the time, why Jigglypuff was choosen? Now we got to have here because she is really part of the Smash family. Smash bros. has made her famous eventhough she isn’t the best Pokemon.
I know, and I’m sure he/she will be back, along with Ness and Captain Falcon, they just are secret characters and never get announced before the game’s release. Luigi was announced last year as an exception of this rule because 2013 was the year of Luigi, even Sakurai said it himself on his Miiverse account.
Since X & Y added the Fairy type & Jigglypuff’s type has been changed to Normal/Fairy, her chances of being in went from 100% to 120% with a new Final Smash that is a Fairy type move. *fingers crossed*
If Ridley gets into SSB 4, I will kill someone.

I would be tripped the fuck out if Wonder Red was in this game. I think it’s not too late to add him. He would make one hell of a final smash with a giant fist. Plus he can morph into the plane to get back to the platform. Add Wonder Blue too. Wonder Green and Wonder Pink is too much asking.

Why does Ganondorf have to use just the Trident? Why can’t he use both? Anyway, I want Ganondorf to use a combination of physical attacks & magic attacks. I’m down with Ridley & Shulk being DLC later down the road if Sakurai needs a bit more time to get Ridley fixed up. Ridley & Shulk would have to be free DLC, though. Oh & Wolf could definitely use an updated moveset that gives him is own original moveset. But let’s hope we don’t have to wait for Ridley. Let’s hope he’s the new character they’ll announce.

I remeber playing Metroid on my Wii and there were other Metroid characters that looked powerful enough on smash. You never played with them but they were teamed with Samaus. I want one of tyem motherfuckers in Smash. Fuck that histpric bird. Plus Samaus needs her franchise extended. She has been alone since Smash 64.

Ridley is practically the true villain of the Metroid series.
THIS, and I love Metroid. It just wouldn’t fit. His proportions are just too weird to shrink without it looking weird.
Metroid doesn’t need anything more than Samus to be represented. Isolation is one of the main themes of both the games and the franchise.
Plus, Charizard is already a cool enough dragon. You could just texture and model hack Charizard and there you go, Ridley. :\ We don’t need him as a separate character.
Charizard isn’t a dragon type, though. Never has been & never will be. Not unless GameFreak allows Pokemon to get a 3rd type, but that’s never going to happen because they have barely gotten out of their tradition with the Pokemon games on the handhelds. Anyway, if Charizard can get in as a playable character even though he can fly, Ridley should be allowed in too. As for his size, resize! Resize! Resize! If done right, Ridley could have his very own original moveset.
The thing is, Ridley seems so out-of-place in comparison to the other characters in Smash Bros. It’s not right to me.
Looking at Ridley in the Supspace Emissary, I thought, “this is a good boss… not a good character.”
And Charizard is a Dragon-type when he mega evolves, I think.
Well we both know out-of-place is irrelevant since tons of people thought Wii Fit Trainer was out of place. Hell, they still think she’s out of place. Same with Pac-Man. If people think it’s out-of-place, Sakurai most likely thinks that makes them unique & unique is practically king in the minds of a good portion of Nintendo’s employees.

Oh I know I’m going to get flack for this but easy fix. Just use his Other M design to go with Samus Aran’s Other M design. Other M’s Clone Ridley was pretty meaty. Maybe the other Ridley was getting old so his body was deteriorating?
That design should be burried forever. Besides, it still has very weird proportions (head to arm, neck to head). Seeing Ridley reduced to a Samus and half in size would be very weird, really. If it’s really a necessity, the best candidate for a second Metroid rep would be Dark Samus. I can see it happening in Smash 5.

He’s the main character of Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii. It’s an amazing game (it’s an rpg). If you ever get the chance to play it, I’d highly, highly recommend it.

Who ever designed this flyer deserves to be fucking shot for getting so many peoples hopes up.
I didn’t know about this until 3 hours ago, but I think I know enough about it to understand that the new character reveal is NOT coming today. Apparently the flyer really says ”There will be more characters soon” or ”There’s more characters to come” so this probably was not a character reveal or anything close to that. I do think that there will be more characters to come, and according to an incredibly accurate leak (the Gematsu leak, the one that predicted Little Mac, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Palutena, Pac-Man, Miis, Pokemon from Pokemon X and Y (later confirmed as Greninja) ) Shulk from Xenoblade, Chrom from Fire Emblem: Awakening, and the Choir Kids (or Choir Men) from Rythm Heaven will be playable characters. But if there is a character that I want it would be Isaac from Golden Sun, as I loved playing Golden Sun a few years ago and he’s the only character I would consider to request (other than some notable veteran characters).
If there is going to be a new character reveal in the coming weeks, I hope it’s either Ridley, Shulk, Isaac, or the unlikely Mewtwo with one of his Mega Evolutions as his Final Smash, like with Charizard.
