Looks Like Super Mario 3D World Will Be Joining Mario Kart 8 And Getting A Special Red Case

The critically acclaimed Super Mario 3D World should be joining Mario Kart 8 and getting a special red case in the US. A reader snapped a couple of photos of the latest Mario adventure sporting a special red Wii U case. The game will also include a sticker proclaiming that Super Mario 3D World is “The family game of the year”.

Thanks, Alex

      1. I downloaded the game, but if I would’ve gotten a physical copy, I’d have wanted the blue case version. Blue goes with every Wii U game.

        1. Yeah, I don’t mind the red case but they should’ve changed the background colour to match the case colour like how they change the background to green for the Luigi U case. It looks ten times better.

    1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

Usually that doens’t happen until 4 years later…

I think 1 year is enough to warrant a pricecut on games…

              1. intentional spelling of ‘bait’ to create the pun within the pun. Now you’ve made me explain it, thus diminishing its effect. Thank you, thank you so much…..

                  1. Well you started it by correcting anon’s spelling of masturbated, so how does it feel to get corrected yourself? Doesn’t feel good, does it? lol

  1. The game has been packaged in a red case for a while now. I saw it at WalMart last week. It’s nice, but not a big deal.

  2. People it is clearly to draw attention back to it. People notice the different color case when they walk by, it’s smart marketing, something Nintendo rarely impliments so be happy.

    1. Rarely implements? They just did it with both Mario Kart 8 and New Super Luigi U. We don’t have to be happy for anything

      1. Two times for two games, and for one of them it obviously wasn’t effective.
That out of three years of the console’s life.
How does that not constitute rare?

        1. 3 games with special cases in 2 years. Why are you calculating based on the lifespan of the console? So yeah, not that rare

Since when were we talking about effectiveness? If you want to talk about that, I can say that all 3 weren’t effective.

  3. It’s good to see more Mario Games getting the red case treatment. I aim to purchase the game someday once the GC Adaptor is out so maybe I will be able to score a copy for a cheap price now…maybe. I hope so!

  4. who gives those stickers anyway? 8 different types of cars, in my country, received the sticker of “the best car of the year” it’s just to call attention heheh.

          1. Lol what? I have a quesstion.

Were you born on a highway? Cause that’s were the most accidents happen :)

      1. Rather have a mom with no swag, than a dead mom, orphan. Don’t you have chimneys to sweep tramp.

          1. You’re the one who started cussing my mum, so why are you saying i’m the one who’s pissed off? You started it, i’m just ending it.

  5. Sigh, I hate lack of uniformity in box designs. If I didn’t care about saving money more than I did satisfying my inner OCD Ostrich I would’ve, for instance, gone out of my way to avoid buying Platinum PS2 games way back when.

    Oh well.

  6. i saw this in target like two weeks ago. i wonder why they only do this with mario games. its not like they have trouble selling

  7. This is rather an old news. About two weeks ago, I visited my local Best Buy to purchase Super Mario 3D World to play with my friends. I was surprised the game was packaged in a red box. I like how it matches Mario and I hope all future Mario Wii U and 3DS games to be packaged in red box.

IMO, I wanted all Mario games to be packaged in green box in the year of Luigi. But that is just my opinion.

  8. The red cases look awful. The WIi U logo seems so out of place. Glad I got it with the blue. If they’re gonna change it to red they should make the Wii U logo red as well. It’s not like it HAS to be blue.

    1. I disagree. I have Mario Kart 8 and the blue actually doesn’t look that bad. It actually goes well with it.

  9. I understand why they kept the blue Wii U logo since blue is the color Nintendo chose to represent the Wii U brand. It’s one of the things that sets the Wii U brand apart from the Wii brand which had white to represent it. Besides the U itself, of course.

  10. As a collector, I won’t buy this red case one. I like original releases. I’ll buy the original blue case one used on eBay some day.
