Super Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai has confirmed Meta Knight’s return to the upcoming brawler in his daily Miiverse post. The veteran fighter – who has appeared in Super Smash Bros Melee as a collectible trophy and Brawl as a playable character – was teased by the director a couple of days ago, where a Mii fighter wore a Meta Knight mask. Clearly, Kirby’s rival-come-mentor wasn’t happy about his mini inclusion, deciding to reveal his awesome moves to eager Smash fans today. Here’s what Sakurai said on Miiverse:
“Pic of the day. ‘Looks like there was an impostor in the earlier posts, so I introduced him to my sword!’ …I’ll leave it up to your imagination if he really said that or not. The veteran hero, Meta Knight, returns to battle!! We didn’t forget the Battleship Halberd either!!
“Meta Knight’s Up Special Move, Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game. The glide is gone, and the attack slashes opponents twice while spinning in a large loop. This has turned into a highly technical and effective move.”

I was just checking miiverse this morning while I was still a bit sleepy (I’m in Europe) and I saw Meta Knight and I was like OOOOMMMGGGG YAY HES BACK!!!!! And then I saw that they probabply didn’t change him as much as I wanted and I was like…. Yea… Yaaay….. :/
He probably tweaked him some more but only mentioned the up special’s change. He might mention more in the future.

The only other character that comes close to having the best Down Smash in the game alongside Meta Knight would be Pikachu. Although Meta Knight’s Down Smash outranges Pikachu’s by a long shot.
Even his Foward Tilt is both fast and strong with a decent range.
All in all, Meta Knight was a low risk high reward character during those days.

Sonic’s moveset still looks basic and weak compared to the Project M one that is actually influenced from Sonic Battle AND _Sonic platformers. Also what’s up with that old brunette Zelda from Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword was recently released? She could’ve had a new move set based on skyward sword. Toon Link also takes no pages from Windwaker or Phantom Hourglass to make him unique like Project M tried; he’s the same old Link clone with damage adjustment

His moves have terrible priority
Make him slower
He still has to pay for the crimes he commited in Brawl.
I’m guessing his smash attacks will be weaker or have less knockback. Also his special moves might either change or be tweaked a bit. I can own with Metaknight! Lol hugs!
I’ve basically had the same though exactly, that way he’s much more balanced and less overpowered. Though I fear that Rosalina or Bowser may be the next “Meta Knight” of this gen.

Bowser has gotten buffed a lot but he is still a big target, and speedy characters in the hands of good players would be able to beat him. Rosalina seems dependent on her lumas and she is a light character as well. My guess is Zero Suit Samus is the new “OP” character. *Hugs you back!*
Meta Knight is the official FGN character of choice. That’s literally the only reason why he dominated the joke of a tier list.
How do I feel? I’m confident that he’s been properly balanced this time. As I said before, Sakurai wouldn’t voluntarily repeat his own acknowledged failure.
