SteamWorld Dig’s Wii U Release Officially Confirmed For August 28, Contains New Features

Image & Form has officially confirmed the Wii U version of SteamWorld Dig will release on August 28. Dubbed as a platform mining adventure, SteamWorld Dig enjoyed considerable success on Nintendo’s 3DS eShop when it released last year. Arriving with a number of new features, Image & Form’s SteamWorld Dig comes to the Wii U for the Americas, Europe and Australia in just over two weeks time.

The developer’s official statement confirmed the platformer will run at a smooth 60 FPS and sport fantastic HD, 1080p graphics. SteamWorld Dig will also support off-TV play on the Wii U GamePad, as well as offer alternative support for the Wii U Pro Controller. Other features included in the game are:

  • Eye candy: Animated character portraits, bloom filter, tweaks and polish
  • Customizable screen interface and controls
  • Languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Russian
  • Clutter-free HD graphics. The map and other interface elements are now displayed on the Wii U GamePad
  • Possible Easter egg

  1. I got this game for 3DS and it is FANTASTIC! I will sure buy it again on WiiU on day 1!! So glad it is released on Wii U!

  2. Nintendo is my Blood Reborn

Loved this game on 3DS, but if this game won’t be significantly different from the 3DS version, I can’t justify paying more for it

  3. I’ll pick it up on day 1 since I loved the 3ds version. Maybe it isn’t going to be that different but I’ve completed the 3ds version 5 times so I can play it an other time I guess.

  4. Will check it out! Just got Child of Light on the eShop Ubisoft sale, good game. The battles get a little boring after a while, but it looks and plays awesome!
