Takahashi Discusses How The Wii U GamePad Will Be Used In Xenoblade Chronicles X

Xenoblade Chronicles X executive producer Tetsuya Takahashi has discussed with EDGE magazine how the game will utilise the Wii U GamePad. Takahashi says that they want to create something that is extremely user friendly and intuitive for users of the game.

“We decided that it would be perfect to use as a navigation device, in the same way that a lot of tablet computers are,” Takahashi said. “We’ve put some important features relating to the game system and your objectives onto the GamePad, so I feel that this should create a very user-friendly experience for players.”

        1. the fact that i won’t have to look up to the pad, and up to the tv, every 3 seconds which will keep breaking my immersion

  1. 2015 is way too far and if they did not have to help with others projects, the game would have been done by now.
More than a year to wait before we can play this game, so far the news about this game sound really good.

Story wise I do believe xenoblade chronicle X will be in a distant future of the original I really don’t expect skull and co to comeback except Rikki which looks much older. From the news we got, I understand X will not be on the same planet as the first game.

      1. I do believe they say that when it was announced. Saying that i thought the idea of xenblade chronicle was the same as xenogear where the games are not linked but elements of the precedent games influence the following game some how. I had they will converse adult themes.

      1. I don’t mind hard, but haven’t played too many RPGs really. I played FF VII, which I loved, and recently Zelda 2, which is a hybrid, so I have some experience, but I’m not too knowledgeable about RPGs. But I’m excited to play it. I may not have played many RPGs, but always hear good things about them.

        1. If you loved FFVII, I think you’ll enjoy this game at least in the story telling aspect. And the story is pretty darn good. Hope you have fun!

Keep your expectations low. If you expect it to be as great as everyone says, you’ll easily be disappointed by the graphics and lack of synced dialogue. Everything else though is outstanding. But again, don’t think about it being outstanding. Go in with no expectations.

        1. All the stuff you read on the internet its seems impossible to keep low expectations, I know I couldn’t. My expectations were very high for this game. With all the accolades and praise I kept seeing how could they not be. I will tell you, Xenoblade met my very high expectations to my delight, and this ended up being one of my favorite rpg’s ever made. Really in my top three favorite games.

However this game did not meet my high expectations at first. It really had to grow on me, and once I learned the battle system (which can be very complex) it got to where it was hard to put down. If you play this game, be patient with it at first, it can get annoying trying to figure out certain aspects of the battle system. good luck!

  3. Now this I am excited for. Anyone that has played Xenoblade knows that a good navigation interface is what the game needs the most because of it’s open world nature. The one in Xenoblade was good, but it was still not very friendly to new players.

Hopefully with this, quests will be a lot easier to keep track of, i’m excited!

  6. I like this idea and it will be more convenient for me when playing the game. I can’t wait for this game to come out. Now it’s time to go finish Xenoblade Chronicles………after my math homework. Ugh!

  7. The HUD better also go onto the Gamepad. It’d be awesome to clear the screen of everything & just see the characters, scenery, & action without all the HP, MP, & other shit on the TV. A good gamer can multitask & doesn’t need everything to be on the TV to kick ass.
