Shin Megami Tensei IV Won’t Be Coming To Europe Until Late October

John Hardin, PR Manager for Atlus USA, has confirmed in a statement that the long-awaited Shin Megami Tensei IV won’t be coming to Europe until sometime in late October. The game was originally meant to appear on the Nintendo 3DS eShop as a digital download this month, but it’s now been put back a month.

“After some unscheduled changes to the SMTIV mobile website raised some eyebrows, a lot of you asked for more details, so I’ll be upfront. We encountered a few last-minute issues specific to the EU version, and we have to fix them. Given the current timelines for production, it looks like SMTIV won’t be out in EU until late October.”

“No one likes delays. Our fans in Europe have been waiting for SMTIV for a *very* long time, and it pains us to have to move the release date back even further. I have talked to a few of you on Twitter, I’ve seen the angry posts on Reddit, NeoGAF, Facebook, etc., and wanted to be as direct as I could. We truly feel awful having to say “wait a little longer” for a game you’ve been so zealously patient for, but there is no other recourse. We’re doing everything we can to get the game out in Europe as fast as we can, so please bear with us.”

    1. Last news we had, they were developing it at a steady but slow pace. Either they’re preparing a surprise announcement a la Hyrule Warriors or it’s going to come out on late 2015/early 2016.

  1. …. I did not follow the news on that game but not being funny I know Europe is a difficult territory due to the numerous translations but if they are on time for the US market I am sure the UK version is ready to be released? the other thing is, do we know if the game will be out in USA in the first place? My question is what kind of issue make that game late in Europe? I am sure one month won’t be the end of the world but lack of details is the frustration part.

  2. I don’t understand what’s taking so long. What needs changed from the US version we’ve had for so long?

It’s a tremendously fun game if you are a fan of Atlus games, although the one down side, is it’s ridiculously easy to get very, very lost. And that has discouraged me from finishing the game… I’ll keep chipping away at it, but it’s frustrating. If you can jump that hurdle, it’s just amazing.

    1. Just read the text and you won’t get lost. Also record every location. Japan has it easy because those are actuall places in Japan.

      1. But if my miss the text, or forget what they said, it’s not well lined out in the quest info… You WILL get lost. I’ve been playing the game for a very long time now. Trust me. :p within each large region, there are the names of all the places. Maybe you need to go to “Joe’s hot dog stand”, but you’re like, “What region is the hot dog stand in??”

Yeah, I kinda wish I knew Japan geography better,

  3. If i ever get this, i’ll probably be buying a used US copy whenever the system is hacked for region free, no sooner. Not giving Atlus or Nintendo a penny by getting on eshop (fucking awful download store).
