mega_diancie_pokemonThere’s a spooky treat available for Pokemon fans across America in the lead up to Halloween. From October 13 until October 26, 2014, Pokemon X and Y owners can grab a special Shiny Gengar which comes holding a Gengarite Mega Stone at participating U.S. GameStop stores. Plus, the Pokemon Company International also unveiled fans can purchase a Pokémon TCG: Gengar Spirit Link 2-Pack from October 13 at GameStop locations across the U.S. while supplies last.

Not only is a Shiny Gengar available for X & Y players, but the mythical Diancie is also up for grabs at GameStop stores from October 27 until November 16, 2014. But if you’re looking to upgrade to Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on November 21, you can simply transfer Diancie into the new games at launch to obtain the Diancite Mega Stone. Here’s the official word from the Pokemon Company International:

The Pokémon Company International today revealed that from October 13 through October 26, 2014, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video game players in the United States can get a special Shiny Gengar holding a Gengarite Mega Stone via a special code card distribution at participating GameStop stores. Players can Mega Evolve this Shiny Gengar into Shiny Mega Gengar during battles.

Also, as an early Halloween treat from Pokémon, beginning October 13, 2014, fans can purchase a Pokémon TCG: Gengar Spirit Link 2-Pack at participating GameStop locations in the U.S. while supplies last. Each Pokémon TCG: Gengar Spirit Link 2-Pack includes two 10-card booster packs from the Pokémon TCG: XY Furious Fists expansion, as well as the Gengar Spirit Link Pokémon Trainer card that debuts in the Pokémon TCG: XY Phantom Forces expansion, launching nationwide November 5, 2014.

Additionally, players can get the long-awaited Mythical Pokémon Diancie for Pokémon X or Pokémon Y at participating GameStop locations in the U.S. from October 27 through November 16, 2014. Once players receive Diancie via the special in-store code card distribution, they can transfer it into Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire when the video games launch November 21, 2014, for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. After obtaining the Diancite Mega Stone in the new games, players can Mega Evolve Diancie into Mega Diancie during battles.

    1. Last time the official PR said it was for U.S it ended up for North America, so you never know! Just check with your local GameStop before heading out there when the event launches. I wouldn’t get your hopes just in case though.

            1. Well, if that’s the case, I stand corrected. :) I wasn’t even aware EB Games was owned by GameStop – guess I need to brush up on American companies! Just make sure you check with your local store.

      1. The recent distribution of the Heracross & Pinsir mega stones neglected Canada. If they meant for North America, they would say it. SInce the specify U.S., Nintendo is ignoring Canadians now.

      2. Not necessarily. The megastone event was US only. EB games was not carrying the codes. Local distribution events EB games usually participates in, but anything requiring a code, EB games will not get.

  1. So, how does these things work?
It used to be that you had to wait in line to upload the Pokemon for your cartridge.
Can you now just go there and just download it from a hub or something?

    1. Nintendo is my Blood Reborn

For the Gengar, you go to GameStop and get a serial code which you enter in the game’s Mystery Gift feature

For the Diancie, they will have a 3DS with a special cartridge that distributes the Diancie

      1. Ok.
I thought they would start taking advantage of technology, and let people show up the and just grab it on the fly.

        1. They used to do it via a wireless hub throughout all of Gen 4 and Gen 5. I don’t know why they started using Serial Codes….

    1. Last time there was a promotion for GameStop, EB games didn’t get it. Canada missed out on the Pinsirite and Heracrosite.

    2. this is not true. please tell me where u acquire this information cuz im a rep for the store and we have no word of this at my canadian location wich is a pretty central toronto one so i imagine we would if it was going to come here.

  2. Looks like a slick looking pokemon. Too bad it won’t come to Wii U but Smash bros. goes to 3Ds. That was stupid. Should have thought about that in 2008.

  3. Facepalm. Not this crap again… Is it really that difficult to just add them as an update or free DLC? I’ll be going to Gamestop, but I’m sick of this limited time retailer nonsense.

  4. This may sound like a dumb question, but if I have both x and y versions, could I possibly recieve two serial codes for the event (one code for each game)?

      1. Thanks for the reply, Nintendofan981. My plan for diancie is to have one in my x version and the other in ORAS where it can mega-evolve.

  5. I still think the pre-order to acquire event download codes is a stupid idea even though I’ll be preordering soon. What about those who don’t want to preorder but get it in eshop or not wanting to deal with GameStop and their BS? Whats the point of adding the wireless Mystery Gift function for anyway?

  6. It would be at fucking Gamestop, huh!? *facepalm* Why couldn’t Diancie be available through Mystery Gift by way of Nintendo Wifi? Well good thing a Gamestop is near Wal-Mart, so I can just walk right over to it when I go to Wal-Mart on October 3rd. Now I just have to hope my Gamestop is one of the Gamestops doing this. If not, fuck you, Nintendo of America!
