Some lucky Japanese consumers have managed to secure an early copy of Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo 3DS. Some of those who acquired a copy have been streaming the game on Twitch. Because of this, the following new characters have now been confirmed.

Ness was always coming back, I don’t get why people actual expected him to be cut. He’s of the original 12 and one of the most unique fighters, and the first Rep of Earthbound. Never once thought he wasn’t gonna be in.

Big mistake. Might as well brought back R.O.B instead of Dr. Mario. Dark Samus would’ve been a great villain representative for those who whined for Ridley to be playable and made my day.
R.O.B. was kick ass if you knew how to use him. Most of his moves have a delay on them, so you have to take that into account. I would love to have him, he had unique moves, and I don’t think people with unique movesets should be cut.
R.O.B was handy at times and his down smash move is his best one next to Mario’s downward punch.
I agree. I am saddened by his choice of characters. Why R.O.B as well? Dark samus over rob would have been nice.

Bowers body size changes in amost every single mario entry. he changes his size twice in one game mario sunshine. not to mention mario party ten, watch the trailer! logic has no place in the nintendo universe… and FYI ridley is in the game.
he’ll be a playable boss, along with crazy hand, master hand, etc……..

That is literally the most obscure character idea they could have thought of. He only ever had one game appearance and everyone hated him because he was so annoying.
This doesn’t make me want the game any less, but it’s still a waste along with the other 2.

I feel like the clones were like: “hey, we’ve completed the roster, we can probably add 2 or 3 characters if they borrow animations” and thus, clones. So think of them as purely bonus characters, wanted or not.
Kinda like Zero Suit’s final smash, and similar to Snake’s from brawl? I can see it happening and would be most fitting for him, but it sucks to have such similar final smashes, but with him what else can you really do lol (Duck Hunt Dog).

But..Dr. Mario is here again? Haven’t they learn their lesson about putting clones? Come on. This and Zero Suit Samus wastes a slot. Where’s Dark Samus for a cut and even Krystal as a female representative of Star Fox?
While I agree with you about clones in general, Zero Suit Samus isn’t a clone – she’s a pretty unique fighter.
They could’ve just kept her as a final smash after effect or changeable in the menu with main Samus in the suit.
Nah, can’t agree with that, nobody liked having to switch from samus to zero suit samus and being stuck as her til you hopefully got another smash ball. Alternate skin, fine, but not as a smash, that’s just not cool, and samus’ beam final wasn’t so great to begin with.
I don’t know why anyone thought Ness wouldn’t be in, I knew it from day 1 before anyone was announced. No way they were cutting the original earthbound rep who’s been in the series since the start. And his moves are very unique, it’d be a waste of a great character. I hope they give him an awesome video like other people, I think he would have an awesome intro video.
But they cut Ice Climbers, Mewtwo and even made Dark Samus a trophy but keep Dark Pit as a clone. WTF bro?
Ice Climbers didn’t deserve it no doubt, but they weren’t in it since 64, that’s why I wasn’t as surprised, and I think I remember reading a while back there would be some cuts people wouldn’t like. Mewtwo was 50/50 coming back since he only was in one game. Would much rather have him over lucario though. Dark Pit I’m not defending, nor the Dark Samus decision. Just stating why I knew Ness and jigglypuff as well were guaranteed essentially.
Jigglypuff…another annoying fucker I don’t want is in the game…Jigglypuff is always a copycat of Kirby.
Other than being little balloon like creatures that float, they are nothing alike moveset wise. Kirby was distustingly awesome in 64 where as Jigglypuff was total garbage. Their down A aerial kick combo is the only attack I can think of off the top of my head. I’ve never liked Jigglypuff myself but again, she’s been there since the original, so they weren’t gonna make her the only fighter cut off the original 12. I don’t see anyone from the original 12 getting cut if the series continues past these installments (no reason it shouldn’t). Again, not defending the decision, just explaining the logic I’m sure they used to come up with it.
Jigglypuff can fight great ask anyone whom I’ve battled. Jk they died in the process.
All this does is confirm that leak even further. Next will be baby bowser, r.o.b and who ever else was on that leak.

xD Now that’s a Metroid character that is DEFINITELY too big for Smash. Least Ridley could be explained away with the fact he was most likely not that big throughout his entire life cycle; if the Ridley from Other M is decided to NOT be canon, that is, because of the hate for that game. Not even humpback whales are born at 50 ft, after all.
they’ re are two roster leaks remember and both of them are shaping up to be true. we are going to have 50+ characters to play as. I strongly believe the rumors of dixie kong. she was going to be in the last installment but ended up getting cut from the game.
I’d love to have Dixie, and hopefully her older look, I don’t like her tropical freeze art style and such compared to the classic games.

Her newer design is less relatable. Allow me to explain;
The older design depicts a much more feminine Dixie Kong. Though the traits she expresses are unique to humans, making her more relatable. Painted nails, long lashes, and a higher tied shirt.
And finally, the most important aspect!! Her head is larger than her body!
While exaggeratingly large, this is the key element.
When comparing head-to-body ratios of humans and chimps, Humans have larger heads in the ratio when comparing our bodies to the bodies of chimps. Who have a larger focus on their bodies than their heads.
Meaning the newer design is more monkey than ever.
You pretty much put a logical reason behind all my reasons lol. I was gonna point out the painted nails and different eye lashes, and even the hair curls and bangs being different. I also liked her knee pads, and her hat even seems a bit sharper. Thanks for pointing out the head shape, that’s definitely bringing it all together with the monkey human explanation.
I’ll be honest, the fact that Ice Climbers are gone is big downer. Really sucks in my opinion that they bring back Dr. Mario yet ditch the Ice Climbing veterans. Already a giant hurt in the heart for me.

I feel you. I was going to build me a nice PC, but now I’m about to buy the Smash Bros 3DS XL, the physical copy of the game SEPARATELY, and that SSBU, adapter, and gcn controller bundle coming to Wii U. Even in the games’ current “fighting game-lite” direction, this is the one game in the world that would make me do something like this. I love Super Smash Bros’ ‘sandbox fighter’ style, and it only comes around once a console generation.
Unless the duck hunt dog’s only attack is to get shot and immediately get KOd, I will keep facepalming.

Dark/Black Pit: He better be immensely different from Pit, damn it! If not, FFFFF!! Should have left him as an alternate color for Pit. And why name him Dark/Black Pit? Why not Pittoo? Ugh! Just had to name him Dark Pit as a nod to Dark Link & Dark Samus.
