Not a fan of the brilliant Wii U Pro Controller? Well you will soon be able to purchase a new adapter in Japan that will allow you to hook up a Dual Shock 4 or a Dual Shock 3 to your Wii or Wii U. The USB adapter, which is made by Cyber Gadget, plugs into the port in the Wii Remote. Cyber Gadget will be releasing the adapter on November 30th in Japan. Here’s the controllers it will work with:
- DualShock 3
- DualShock 4
- Cyber Analog Turbo 3 (PS3)
- Classic USB Gamepad (PC USB controller)
- iBuffalo Arcade Stick 13 II (joystick)

Hey, I do admit that the Dualshock (3, but they’re similar) is awesome, but it has to settle for second this time. The GC has been my favorite since the very beginning of console existence!
The GCN controller is also my favorite, melding w/ my hands so well, & the button shapes & layout are quite intuitive. But for me, there’s 1 major flaw, which was carried over to the Wiimote: the small D-pad. While I didn’t have many GCN titles that utilized it for the main game (Alien Hominid, MegaMan Network Transmission, & MegaManX Collection come to mind [Blowout maybe?]), it was frustrating, especially when I also prefer to navigate game menus for most games, except when I can point or tap.

The dualshock 4 is the lamest controller I ever laid my hands on. To put it in the same league as the Cubes is laughable at best.

No honestly I have the ds4 controller and it isn’t that special. IN all honesty I like the grip on the analog sticks on the xbox one more but the Wii U gamepad is my favorite since it is handy and I sit back in bed and use it like a handheld
I’ve been using a daulshock 4 with a Wii emulator playing Brawl and it’s really comfortable. DS3 is probably much better, though. I’ll stick with the GC controller.
I’d actually like to see more mods like this. They’re interesting. :)

Well, it basically works as a classic controller. The console reads it as such so it will be compatible for all games that use the classic controller. (Or the All Pro, I actually forgot which one) Still, it should have a decently large amount of games that you can use it with.
This is really interesting. I love the PS4 and the controller. I’d love to test out Mario Kart 8 with the DS4 :)

My friend has had the PS4 since launch day. He plays it a lot.
It was a batch of controllers that were affected by that at launch, Sony even commented on it. Since then they have changed the rubber and even replaced the previous controllers of those who had the issue. They even stopped supplying the controllers for a little while until they fixed the rubber.
I was unlucky and had one of the defected rubber ones, they replaced it for free and I haven’t had the problem since. It didn’t happen to everyone either, some people are still playing with their launch controllers.
I haven’t had an issue with the triggers squeaking with either controller I had, even the one where the rubber failed. Not saying people aren’t having that problem, I see some.
The problem is every electronic device made, there will always be a some that are defective, unfortunately we don’t have the capability to manufacture things with a 0% failure rate yet. This goes for absolutely anything, don’t believe me, type anything in google with defective before it and read on.
No sense in bitching about isolated issues, now if it was a problem that affected every single device, then yes, you would have every right to try and besmirch it.

True. I died a ton of times on some of those levels… But Galaxy felt kind of boring on some parts imo. The only things I really enjoyed about it was the music (which is still the best fucking Mario music ever made to this day) and the bosses. And the power ups. Spring Mario and Ice Mario were cool to me in that game. And the best level in any Mario game ever (Gusty Garden Galaxy!) And introducing the best female Nintendo character yet (Rosalina) Overall though, I enjoyed SM3DW way more. The first level introducing the most fun power up I’ve ever used in awhile; Cat bell. The ability to play as Peach instead of saving her stupid blonde ass for the 20th time. Lmao. The fact that you can play as (5) different characters that all play differently and affect how you play on the stage. And the best and most funnest levels of any Mario game I’ve ever played. And not to mention, it’s the best looking Mario game to date. Everything about it was amazing. Galaxy was good, but after I beat it, I really didn’t want to play it any more. I don’t even remember half of the levels in that game. And the final boss battle was really lame imo. SM3DW’s was amazing and I really wasn’t expecting that twist at the end. I sold Galaxy I think 2 years ago and haven’t really regretted it tbh. I’m never letting 3D World out of my sight. I knew it was a good idea to download it. ;)
IDK how you say Galaxy is boring with a straight face. Galaxy is incredible. The visuals, level designs and especially the music. I’m not for one who likes orchestra but after hearing Galaxy, I fell in love with its beautiful music. ^_^ Bowser fight in 3D World was way too easy and similar to New Mario Bros. Wii fight when you just avoid him but Wii’s version was way intense. XD 3D Land Bowser fights > 3D World, fact. But the only hardest Bowser fight was the original Super Mario Bros., even Bros. 3, World and 64 was more challenging. :3
My favorite Bowser boss fight so far is either Bros. 3 or the 3rd fight in Mario 64. :)
I haven’t played either of those Mario games. Sadly, it’s better if I don’t. I’ve been too spoiled by the better handling and control of new games, so the slippery controls and stuff of older games really pisses me off and takes away from the enjoyment. This happens with almost EVERY old game I try to play and honestly it’s not worth it. I’m just hoping they remake 64 for Wii U in the future. Would be great for me.

Yeah, I don’t really think I can go back to Bros 3. I’m too spoiled by newer games and my enjoyment of that game is going to be decreased dramatically by a number of things. There are games that already look to similar to it (NSMB for example), I’m spoiled by the graphics of newer games too, the controls of old Mario games get on my nerves (trust me I tried the first Super Mario) so overall I probably will not enjoy it. It looks like a downgraded NSMBU from what I’ve seen. As for 64, that game looks great, but again,a lot of things prevent me from playing it due to being spoiled by new Mario games. It’s like when I played Mario Kart 8 and tried to go back and try MK64. It just doesn’t work that way. MK64 was just absolutely horrendous to me in terms of control. I wonder how people actually enjoyed playing that back then. MK8 is so much better.
It’s not about the controls that defines where gaming came from, it’s the fun and ideas behind it. If you don’t try out the Retros, it just simply means you’re too drawn into modern era filled with shooters and shit, using dated controllers as an excuse to stay isolated. XD

The Wii U Pro Controller is all fine and dandy, but I have to admit there were some games that it felt a bit uncomfortable with (NSMBU and Pikmin 3 mainly).
It’s never a bad thing to have a variety of choices though. :)

I thought you could, but I wouldn’t know for sure since I’ve never tried. I always just use the stand, since the gamepad is so awkward to hold with one hand.
I remember messing with the controls once and I know you can switch it to the sticks and buttons, so I’d assume it would works with the pro controller that way.

Seriously, I think this could be an interesting idea and bridge the gap between fanbases and consoles of Sony/Nintendo. :) Who else thinks this may be a neat idea?
Only if the best parts of the 2 remained intact, of course. I’m sure some elements would be lost, though. But I doubt Sony will ever forgive Nintendo’s betrayal, & that Nintendo will accept the tough competition they themselves created.
I’ve dreamt of Sony devving 1 game per gen for Nintendo, while Nintendo did the same for Sony. A new franchise or stand-alone title, w/ real effort put in. Or maybe a joint effort where each side gets a unique character or level. Peace offerings to show how much they need each other, that competition can be healthy instead of toxic.
Betrayal? lol Seriously, I think Sony would thank Nintendo for backing off thus creating the ONLY success “PlayStation” that’s keeping them alive today than hate them for not joining forces. Then again, that’s history that happened ages ago and I think it’s time for forgiveness. I like them both for certain reasons and they should consider another chance at some type of potential partnership, not another console breed but sharing or collaborating game development. :)

I’ll be going PC+Playstation next gen. (Or this gen if Nintendo pisses me off enough with the Wii U) Nintendo’s decisions as of late makes me want to go up to the NOA headquarters and just slap everyone. I really don’t like the playstation controllers, so, I think I’ll just stick with the gamepad pro or gamepad.
Waste of cash, right there; I’ll get more gameplay options and off-tv play using the game pad.

For me it is.
I’ve got a classic controller, and a Wiimote+Nunchaku, if I want to rely on controllers I’ve already got.
If I wanted something nearly identical to the DualShock, I’ve also got the Pro as a purchase option.
I’d be wasting money getting an adapter for a dualshock, as things stand, and that’s not even counting the game pad with all the extra possibilities it comes with.
You don’t understand though. I’m a huge fan of the PS4. This is great news.
And that’s fine.
I won’t deny you your excitement if that’s what floats your boat.
But I wouldn’t put down cash for this when I’ve already got satisfactory options present.
Have you tried the Dualshock 4? You don’t know what you’re missing out on!! It’s amazing. Best controller EVER. Exceeded my expectations when I used it at Gamestop. I just didn’t want to let go of it… Sigh.
I’ve held and briefly used one.
The difference isn’t wide enough away from the PS3 controllers to make me impressed, honestly.
And it doesn’t do everything that I’ve seen the game pad do, either, which is regrettable because it’s a solid controller otherwise, but as long as it’s just a slightly more comfy version of the PS3 controller, I can’t see myself spending money on an adapter for it.
I take it you don’t like PlayStation? :p

Well, which is better? DS3 or 4?
On a purely technical scale, the DS4 has that clickable touch pad, so with the right functions programmed to it, it offers a bit more than a standard DS3.
But if you’re talking something like the level of comfort from holding it, its size, etc etc, all I can say is that there wasn’t enough of a difference for me to notice.
I have recently heard from some people that their DS4’s aren’t lasting as long as their DS3’s, though.
Tales of the rubber coming off of the sticks, the buttons not clicking anymore or ceasing to function altogether, troubles keeping them synched to the system, etc etc.
It’s probably a minority experiencing these things, though, so I didn’t give them much thought when I heard about them.
I don’t know how you didn’t see that much of a difference. DS4 is leagues better than DS3. In fact, it’s the only one out of them all of which I noticed a huge difference from. PS3’s controller is just too cramped and small and the triggers and analog sticks don’t feel right to me. PS4 fixes ALL of the problems I had with the other controller. It’s incredibly comfortable to me. It’s the best controller I’ve ever held to date. Of course the Wii U Gamepad has more options with the touchscreen and all the other features, but it’s completely different and not really comparable. The Wii U Pro Controller is nice, but it was only made as an alternative. It doesn’t really have that great of a rumble and it’s pretty much a standard version of the Gamepad. I’ve heard it has amazing battery life though so I’ll give it that. The Gamecube controller is the best one Nintendo has made imo. Glad to see them bringing it back. Although, if it doesn’t support games other than Smash, it’ll be pretty much useless for my Wii U.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I’ve had a PS3 forever and thus have grown used to the size of the controller?
I’m very adaptable when it comes to trying out new controllers; the size of the PS3 controller never bothered me so I didn’t see much of a difference between it and the DS4.
