Hazewalker Coming To Wii U eShop And Will Feature Proper Wii U GamePad Support

Hazewalker, the upcoming dark fantasy Metroidvania game slated to go live on Kickstarter on October 15th, will be coming to the Wii U console with fully featured Wii U Gamepad support, TheoryForm Games has announced.

“I want to bring Metroidvania games into the next generation,” lead designer David Pierce said. “I want to redefine what people expect from these kinds of games. I’ve been excited by ‘second screen’ possibilities and the kinds of gameplay experiences they can open up since Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles on the Gamecube and Gameboy Advance.”

“Imagine being able to look at your map, thumb through your character’s journal, or see your inventory in the palm of your hands; for me, that’s really exciting. We’ve just started to scratch the surface of the really cool possibilities this brings to the table.”

“We are fully committed to an awesome, next-gen second screen experience, and Nintendo has been a fantastic partner to work with so far,” David said.

If successfully funded on Kickstarter, TheoryForm has committed to releasing Hazewalker on the Wii U, along with the previously announced PC, Mac, and Linux. TheoryForm will be announcing further console plans as the Kickstarter approaches.

    1. And he said the Wii U is next gen…..which of course we Nintendo fans already knew and some 3rd parties hate to admit

      1. So basically anything ranging from a static map to the map and menus of Darksiders 2, and probably nothing more than that. I don’t have a problem with that, in fact, I absolutely loved how Darksiders 2 did it. The only thing I didn’t like was you couldn’t do upgrades without pausing, but even still it was great (especially considering that game’s load times), but expecting much more than that would probably be a bit too much. At best, it’d be used for some mini-game type of aspect of the game that let’s you do something like excavate minerals or something like that. That fun for 5 minutes type of stuff. I would love to see more intricate interactive stuff, but I don’t see that happening til Nintendo does it first in some odd, I never expected this type of way, which I honestly question if it’ll happen this generation, but eventually I’m sure

  1. Fuck this Fall.

“Say, do you want to play Hyrule Warriors? Well you’re in luck because-OH SH*T! Here comes October and November! Quick, decide between HW and Freedom Wars! Freedom Wars? Now choose between Freedom Wars and Bayonetta 2! No time! Choose between those and Smash Bros.! F**k your answer! Play Civ in space, bitch! Oh, is this too much for you and your budget? Well we’re not done yet! Sit back down! Natural Doctrine, Frozen Synapse Prime, Alien Isolation, Legend of Korra, Fantasy Life, Binding of Isaac, Tales of Hearts R, Assassin’s Creed, LBP3, Far Cry 4, Dragon Age 3, Pokemon! Let’s see you pick just three, you cash-strapped son of a bitch!”

At least Drive Club won’t make me wait to play it, but will let me buy the full game after the crazy holiday season.

      1. Every system but Wii U. Lol.
