The Nintendo 3DS can now download software on its HOME Menu without going into sleep mode. Upon downloading content from the Nintendo eShop, 3DS users are given the option to “Download Now” or “Download Later.” The latter choice requires the handheld to be asleep in order to receive software digitally, but you can now choose the “Download Now” option via the device’s HOME Menu.

That’s good news. Though, I would think that this would be more effective on the newer 3DS hardware; I doubt that the current models will be able to handle it very well.

I like these additions better than right from the start. We might not get all the features had it been started off. Think of it as trial and error. Like hmmm what are we lacking oh yes downloading without sleep mode. Ahhh great thinking you are grand.

big woop! nothing big if the big N want to bring in more money release the damn region lock then they can have pools full of dollar, GBP, euros etc. until then Nintnendo are not getting any of my money after Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Bayonetta 2 other than that i’ll be spending my money on books afterwards

Glad to hear the change so I wouldn’t have to put it in sleep mode all the time but I don’t think its good enough knowing the new 3DS speed destroys the old and its one of the reasons why the upgrade is necessary.

It’s a cool new feature on the New 3DS, but it doesn’t give me a “WOW“ effect…Sorry.
We can now download software with the 3ds OPEN! Yaaay. Stare at your screen in amazement as you watch the percent climb upward. View the excitement from your bottom screen with your 3DS slider cranked up. Oh wow! Alright, I’m done. Hehehe… Srsrly though, I like to watch the downloads without having to be in the eshop or sleep mode.
no, the point is if you click ‘download now’ it doesn’t make you watch that stupid thing anymore… you are free to continue shopping or playing games while it downloads in the background
But I remember that I downloaded things without Sleep Mode before….
(XL could do it, not sure about 3DS)
