Ubisoft Toronto Founder Jade Raymond Departs To Pursue New Opportunities

Today, Ubisoft announced that after 10 years of collaboration, the company and Jade Raymond have agreed to pursue future opportunities separately. Alexandre Parizeau, a founding team member of the Ubisoft Toronto studio, replaces Raymond as managing director.

During her tenure at Ubisoft, Raymond was producer on the first Assassin’s Creed (2004-2007) and served as executive producer on Assassin’s Creed II (2008-2009), Watch_Dogs (2008-2009) and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist (2010-2013). She also opened the Ubisoft Toronto studio and served as its managing director since 2009, a role she will turn over to Parizeau starting October 29.

“I’ve spent 10 extraordinary years at Ubisoft, and I am proud to have been part of many of the best teams in the industry making truly remarkable games,” said Raymond. “This is one of the hardest decisions of my career, but the Toronto studio is strong and on a solid path. I’m confident that now is a good time for me to transition leadership of the studio to Alex and to pursue my other ambitions and new opportunities. Stay tuned for more on what’s next for me, but for now, I’d like to thank Ubisoft for its partnership through the years, and I wish them the very best in all their next endeavours.”

With more than 15 years in the game industry, Parizeau has an impressive range of experience across many facets of the business. As a founding core member of Ubisoft Toronto studio, Parizeau is a proven and trusted team builder and leader. He also served as senior producer on Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist, and producer on Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction and Rainbow Six Vegas.  Parizeau will report to Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto, and will oversee Toronto’s continued role as a key contributor to the development of some of the biggest brands at Ubisoft, as well as a number of unannounced projects.

“On behalf of Ubisoft, I’d like to thank Jade for her leadership and many contributions over the years, and wish her all the best in her next adventures,” said Mallat. “The Toronto studio is a key part of the Ubisoft global network, and Alex has been at the heart of the studio’s growth over the years. He was the obvious choice to lead this talented group of people as they continue to develop amazing games.”

        1. Scoring a mere 8.0 while only selling itself to idiots who forgot GTA5 exists and also lied about what the game is offering compare to 2012 version. Better than any Nintendo games this year..you mean the consective 9.0+ reviewed Nintendo games this year that lived up its word? Whatever you say self-racist. Stick to your 3 year old lv14, 1st prestige ass in BF3 and Ghosts

          1. To be fair, an 8/10 is a pretty solid score. Not saying anything about Watch Dogs deserving the score or not, that’s up to everyone themselves to decide, but yea, generally talking about scores, an 8 is anything but bad.

            1. While this asshat defends a GTA knockoff that makes Saints Row 2 look good, Nintendo still rises up and continue to make the best quality and fun games possible despite the amount of dumb hate against them because they dont go as power and money hungry as the 3rd parties and SONY/M$ just so they can still have something retarded to bash and hate them over. Humanity is basically too stupid to learn how to appreciate other things that go for different reasons and taste that isnt illgocial or immoral at all.

            2. I agree 8 is a solid score, but the user reviews are much, much lower … Last I checked, around 5.5 ish…on every platform. I truly believe I’m skipping it.

Ubisoft even came out and said it wasn’t as good as they expected. :/

              1. I don’t even bother looking at user scores because I know they’ll be filled with silly reviews bored people write to make the game look bad. Of course there sometimes are good, reasonable reviews from serious people, but from my personal experience, a lot of people give games bad scores just because.
And about Watch Dogs, well, Ubisoft dropping a statement like that sure wasn’t the best thing they could have done. I personally liked the game though, it wasn’t outstandingly fantastic or anything of the sorts, but it wasn’t bad either. Sure, had some flaws, but it’s still a good game imo.
If you’re not fully convinced of it, you can always wait for a price drop, at least you won’t feel too bad about it like that, in case you end up not liking it. d:

                1. I was gonna buy Watch Dogs but the downgrade they did to it was unacceptable for me. I was hyped after seeing that 2012 E3 demo, but they just completely screwed it up into a completely different game that I don’t really care about. They took away those real life-ish graphics I was really looking forward to. And I don’t like that you can’t just do melee attacks. It also looks kind of repetitive now. Even if I was able to enjoy the game, I can never forgive how Ubisoft lied like that. They need to start showing only actual gameplay footage from the final versions from now on. I don’t like lies!

                  1. From what I’ve been hearing, Ubisoft pulled a Sega with Watch_Dogs. Aliens: Colonial Marines initial trailer showed it with impressive graphics only for the actual game to be less than what the graphics of the initial trailer was.

        1. Most days it’s like a drunken bar fight, and I hope you’re over 18, because it gets pretty… Well, you’ll see… ;D

  1. Good for her. Ubisoft, in terms of management, is going down the drain and quickly becoming just as bad as EA. This may sound like a terrible idea to some, but I hope Ubisoft just drops most of it’s triple A titles and focuses more on it’s indie titles such as Child of Light and Cloudberry Kingdom. Those games are addicting and I absolutely love them. They should only make one Tom Clancy triple A game every two years and maybe a Prince of Persia here and there and focus more on their beautiful indie games. Oh…and Rayman of course!

    1. Yes. If they spend less time pushing out roughly the same game every year, they might actually have more time to make fair Wii U ports.
