UCraft Takes To Kickstarter

Nexis Games Studio has announced that they’ve taken to Kickstarter to gain some funding for the ambitious title UCraft. The company says it needs help creating the art, music, design and engineering to give consumers a great project when the game launches next year. The Kickstarter launches later today and the page is here.

“Nearly 8 months ago Nexis Games Studio began work on UCraft and ever since then it has been our goal to deliver the best experience possible and to be as forth coming as possible with our beloved gaming community. As many of you know Video Game design can be a very expensive venture especially with a games like UCraft, The Dance of the Damned and Ride. Right now I am a one man studio and not only am I responsible for all financial expenses but I also handle all of the Programming, Art, Game Design, Music Engineering, Social Media, Trailers and Paperwork.”

“That said Nexis Games is preparing our first KickStarter campaign for UCraft because we need your help to make this game great. UCraft deserves nothing but the best in Art, Music, Design and engineering and with your support we can make it happen! By supporting this KickStarter you ensure that UCraft will be great and something that we as Nintendo Lovers can be proud to call our own.”

“As an added benefit those who purchase a Digital Copy of UCraft through our KickStarter will receive access to an exclusive texture pack that will only be available to Backers. As always we thank you for your support and we look forward to supporting the Wii U for many years to come!”

    1. I really dislike minecraft because it looks like shit. I don’t get why everyone hates this game though. You’re not ever getting minecraft on wiiU, so those that want a minecraft game will have this option. Besides the we don’t want you money line was a little silly, but backing them isn’t giving them free money. By backing them you’re essentially buying the game early. So you’re not giving them free money which is what you guys are making it out to be. Xbox was never going to get gran turismo, so they made forza. It’s one thing to make a clone of a game that’s already on a platform, but it’s something different altogether if you give some people something that they’ve been wanting. I hear the complaint about trees and stuff. That stuff needs to get made and added, it’s not he end of the world. These simple things take time. I can only speak from experience in saying that game development is a lot more work than you can imagine. Even in my game making trees and stuff takes a lot longer than it should, and my games in 2D.

      1. Also one more thing, yes game development does absolutely 100% put a strain on your funds. You can either work a full time job and do this on the side which is honestly not practical. You can do what I do and work part time and do this most of the day, which is impossible if you have a family. The final option is to do this and only this full time, with no source of income, which means you have to live with parents who don’t charge you for anything. I used to have savings but now I’m barely scrapping by. I see no problem in taking to kickstarter for early sales to keep your head above water. Please only criticize this comment if you’re an adult who pays bills.

  1. How about… I don’t know, Nintendo just back them… or does have to be an “indie” project to side-step possible trademark or copyright infringment… I’ll have to look into it

  2. First off the game is not perfect. It will have it issues and problems. Second we are comparing Ucraft to it competition that has been around for over 10 years. fourth minecraft is not coming to the WiiU. So this company is doing us a favor by making a clone in order to fill a void we are missing out on. Finally Just enjoy the game when it comes out. Who cares if it is not as good as minecraft. We would not be getting it or a clone of minecraft if it was not for this company.

      1. Why is a minecraft clone lame? What the hell is the difference? If it’s a clone then it’s like minecraft. I don’t see how minecraft would be better.

    1. I don’t know why we need a new Minecraft game built from the ground up. There are decent pre-existing Minecraft clones that are pretty good that maybe, since Minecraft is a Micro$hit property now, their developers could be persuaded by the Nintendo community to port over to the Wii U. I’ve mentioned this elsewhere, but Kaalus’ Survivalcraft is the best I’ve played and has been around long enough that it has a lot of features and has distinguished itself fro

      1. Fuck…typing on my phone. …has distinguished itself from Minecraft enough to bring something new to the mix. It’s an Android/iOS game, but the touch controls would actually make it suitable to the Wii U Gamepad. If Notch couldn’t be convinced to bring Minecraft to Wii U (while he had the chance), maybe Kaalus can be.

  3. Wow, this is going to be sad. I’d rather play Minecraft on a phone than play a cheap knock-off on the Wii U, and I HATE Minecraft on a phone, I doubt I’m alone in this.

  4. I don’t know if you keep reporting on this game as a joke, if you have SERIOUS faith in this project, or you’re being paid by the “developers”, but please, for the love of everything that is holy, please stop reporting on this insufficient, cheap, poorly designed piece of fucking capital- B BULLSHIT that is “uCraft”

There isn’t enough cuss words in every language of the world to describe how fucking shitty this game looks. The fact that MyNintendoNews is SERIOUSLY reporting this as if it’s the second coming of Jesus H. Christ is a fucking abomination to gaming journalism. This is nothing more than 3 15 year old kids in their rooms attempting to make a knock off of a Minecraft knock off. They can’t even assemble a half decent trailer to construct a facade for the unfathomable amount of BULLSHIT that is this game.

I’ve been following MyNintendo news for YEARS. This has been one of the ONLY news accounts that I follow because of the excellent journalism, great site design, etc. But if I see one more fucking post regarding this pile of horseshit, it is in best interest of my mental sanity (and I’m sure yours as well) that I unfollow. I simply can’t “ignore the posts”. It’s getting out of hand. STOP IT WITH THIS BULLSHIT.

    1. I don’t get any of these comments. You guys say it looks like shit, but I think minecraft looks like shit. So if this game looks like shit it means they’re doing a pretty damn good job of making a clone of a game that you will never get on wiiU. It would be bad if minecraft was on wiiU and they also made this copy, but this game is wiiU exclusive because it’s the only game of it’s kind on the system. Forza is an excellent example of how a “clone” can be a good thing. Xbox was never going to get gran turismo so there’s 2 options. Leave their customers with no racing simulator, or make their own.

    1. I think a Minecraft clone can be creative; I just don’t see it here. I see Minecraft as more than just a game because I believe it spawned or at least popularized a new genre of gaming and therefore exists in a category of it’s own. That’s why I don’t mind a game developer offering its own take on the Minecraft formula. If a developer as has real vision and talent, they can make something fresh and worthwhile. But UCraft just looks…dumb.

  5. See. I Told You So! What did I say? I knew that the phrase “we don’t want your money, only your heart” was such a silly and out of place comment to make. That was thier biggest mistake so far. Now for the rest of development they are going to sound like hypocrits.

I’m not down on the game though. It actually has alot of potential. Just that “official” trailer was probably the worst trailer I have ever seen for any game in history. Next time you show a trailer, don’t have an emotional speech at the beginning, and have water and trees. Otherwise people are just going to shit on it.

  6. Might be a good idea to invest, because if they offer the game as a kickstarter reward, then you might be able to get it for cheap!!!

  7. I am gonna support this game. FUck all y’all. I want minecraft on my wii u. My daughter love it on the tablet. So she gonna love ucraft on the wiiu. She always ask me why minecraft not on the wiiu.

So again fuck y’all negative piece of shit who knows nothing about game developing.

Get N or Get the FUCK OUT!!!!!!

  8. I backed it!! I am looking forward to this game. It’s clearly still in the early stages of development but I see potential and want to support the developer. I don’t know why everyone has to be so negative about it.
