Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has informed investors that the company is planning to release a Mii application for smartphones and tablets sometime next year. They were originally planning to release the app this year, but they had so many ideas that they thought it would be best to delay it until it’s polished and ready. Iwata says that the app isn’t about making money, but instead strengthens the connection between the company and consumers.

Actually, that feature needs to go. I don’t think ANYONE is using it or even bother. I tried it once and all it does is act like a universal remote and TV guide, it doesn’t stream TV audio/picture which would’ve been fucking cool if it did but no. We can allready access Miiverse through the browser, so there’s no rush for that. And Wii U have no problems on that front, the games looks and plays great.

Unified eShop accounts, messaging system outside of Miiverse (I don’t want to wait a minute for it to go into Miiverse to send a message), Invite into your game feature, possibly achievements since Nintendo seems to put them in their games individually which makes no sense. They should make a universal achievement system like Xbox has so that they can prolong the life of their games and give users some bragging rights. Shallow, but it’s something many would like and it doesn’t hurt to have. Backgrounds, possibly free. It’s 2014, PCs and mobile phones have had free backgrounds since….backgrounds existed. I’d like them to patch their games to have online, but I know that won’t happen since it’s Nintendo, they aren’t pro consumer.

If there can be a billion indie developed apps, why can’t a huge company like Nintendo make a fucking app? An easy way to make miis and transferring them to Wii U and Nintendo 3DS
They should make an app called ‘Nintendo App’ instead in which you can access Nintendo Website, Nintendo Eshop, Nintendo Network, Mii Channel and Mii Verse.
Maybe this will be part of it, who knows. It would be cool.

It’s not a problem. Had I started with iOS devices, I probably wound’t have changed to Android. But I chose Android as it is easier to change between producers. I have a Galaxy S4 and a Galaxy TabS right now. Love the tablet, not overly fond over the phone. Might switch to HTC or Sony with my next phone, but I’ll keep using Samsung tablets!
Then what’s the real problem with you and iOS? Because cross buy in multiple platforms are nonexistent and it involves with all platforms that are not the same. Buying on iOS doesn’t mean you can get the same for free on Android, Xbox Live Marketplace, PSN or even Nintendo eShop.
What I said in my original comment was that it would probably come to iOS first, as it is faster to develop for. I used the “sadly”, as I don’t own any iOS devices, and we (Android owners) will have to wait longer than everyone who has an iOS device.
When I had Android, I had to wait forever for a good update and when I got it, it introduced more annoying bugs and problems that I instantly hated the platform. Buying Note 3 was a huge mistake for me.

Not exactly sure how it works with phones, but with PC’s I can easily tell the difference between 720p, 900p, and 1080p. People always try to tell me that I have superhuman eyes or something and it makes me mad. It’s easy to spot the difference. They all must be blind!
I can tell 1080p/60FPS on PC indefinitely. Not even PS4 is close to that so this “next gen” gaming on consoles is a shame. Only Wii U stands out because its trying out offering a different experience with many exclusives you don’t get anywhere else. That’s why many say it makes sense to own a reasonable PC with Steam and a Nintendo console. Maybe PS because it has some decent exclusives but they’re not as memorable or fun in the long run.
But do you have a PC capable of playing this generation’s games at 1080p 60fps? Nope. I’d like to think not. When you compare consoles, it doesn’t make any sense to compare it to PC because it obviously has better performance. A good gaming PC built for this generation would be at least $1000. In addition to the price of Nintendo’s own systems, that’s too much money for some people.
Here is the difference from what I see. 720p is just your standard High Definition. Colors look brighter and words are clearer, but image quality still looks blurry for videos. 900p is a slight step up from 720p. Screens are brighter and look as if they have better color, but they look more or less the same as 720. You can still notice it though. 1080p is a huge noticeable difference. Words look sharp and video and images are crisp and have brighter, more vivid color. Not many people actually get to see true 1080p though because most TV networks and stuff don’t even go past 720 and their video game consoles like the PS3 for example put marketing nonsense on the back of their cases saying it’s 1080p even though it is nowhere near that resolution. And people end up getting tricked thinking that they know what it looks like. Today I saw a PS4 kiosk at Walmart and I was absolutely blown away by the 1080p footage they had of games. Even stuff I had no interest in like Killzone Shadow Fall look AMAZING. PS4 owners definitely have all the right to brag about that resolution because it is definitely a sight to behold. 720p doesn’t come anywhere close to it and I honestly want to bitchslap anyone that says they can’t tell the difference. I’m sorry. I just find that annoying. Lol.
PS4 owners shouldn’t be bragging to have 900p maximum because thats all they’re gonna get mostly and the generation difference isn’t that huge. It looks likes a cosmetic (small) update from 7th gen. Nothing more, nothing less.

A phone app for miis would be good if it did voice chat party so you can use it when playing online games with friends otherwise I’d prefer more mii features for my 3ds and wii u.
More bridging between Nintendo Console and mobile. Not sure if they’re actually moving or just connecting between worlds without going over one side too far. But this is kinda cool. Now I can create Mii’s from my iPhone and use them in any format: iPhone and Wii U. :)
How about actually focusing on fixing the systems issues like region lock, lack of third party, and no universal account system first? I don’t need this useless junk….
Region Locking? Yes. Lying and conniving 3rd parties? Fuck them. Universal account system? A must and yes they’re working on it.
You don’t just brush off every fucking third party dev just because a few of the bigger ones lied. -_-
Its not just a big few doing it. Its because stupid fucks who keep wasting money on these scams of a video game, the entire 3rd party is gonna see them as suckers and do that kind of trend themselves to scam money. They dont give a fuck and thank god Nintendo is still alive because I dont see them do that shit. Most of their games are great in quality and never deliverately stripped for DLC and then sell it at full price like Destiny and Watchdogs.
Nintendo’s pretty hipster about these kinds of things. They’ll eventally join the party fashionably late after the trends have been well established. And regarding the app, I hope it isn’t like the Ubisoft partner application that get released with every game. Those things suck. And I hate that I actually have to play them in order to unlock in-game content! Talk about user unfriendly.
Fashionably late? Well, I guess my money is going to be fashionably late too if they want to keep playing with me. My Wii U doesn’t even work anymore and. I’d have been bought a new one if there was a universal account system. I could easily transfer my stuff to a new console, but I have to go through this nonsense of sending my Wii U to Nintendo and that costs extra money and it also wastes my time.
can’t agree more with you. there are so many things nintendo need to work on the wii u that creating an apps on android phone is useless at this stage. Saying that Iwata stated that nintendo created a Apps/game phone development studio/division in 2013, I guess this announcement is just to justify the creation of it.
When Nintendo takes time to polish a product the result rarely disappoints. I’m hoping for MiiVerse support, however, I’ll most likely download the app no matter what.

It’s both interesting and creepy to see Nintendo stepping into new territories like this. I just hope they don’t get too carried away with it. Because after all, we all know that nothing beats dedicated gaming consoles.
