Japanese Charts: 3DS Sells 69k, Wii U Sells 4.6k

This week’s Media Create sales are now in from Japan. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate has yet to be knocked off the top spot by any other competitor, selling another 100k in units. Developed by Capcom, the 3DS action RPG has now sold over 2 million physical units – it was only last month that the developer confirmed it had shipped 2 million units including downloadable copies from the eShop. Following behind the chart-topper is Yokai Watch 2 and Super Smash Bros for 3DS, which are still selling well in the region.

In terms of hardware sales, the 3DS has dropped significantly in numbers once again. This week a further 69k from all four models, of which 41k are for the New 3DS LL, add to the life-to-date total of the console. The Wii U remains in the 4k range, though moves up a few hundred in comparison to last week. You can view the top 20 software and hardware charts below.

    Playstaton games dominated the top 20, with 3DS games still taking top spots. Wow, Xbox One game, how did that happen!!!
    Also, sales for Wii U are probably this down as some might me awaiting the inevitable Smash Bros Wii U bundle…

            No. Japan was clearly stupid to not only start a war with the US needlessly and also refused to surrender before the first nuke but still refuse to surrender after that first nuke. So in a very glaringly obvious way, Japan asked for every kilogram of ass whooping they got from the US back then.

      Japan market is way more exciting than UK, where people only care about Fifa, Minecraft and shooters. In Japan at least there´s a lot of variety

      Wish I could afford that. I have a 3DS XL, Wii U, and a decent PC as of now. Will probably gett a PS4 sometime in the future, as soon as they come with some good games. And Nintendo do not. Which won’t happen.

          I will miss a few minutes because of the shop that I work in owned by my parents, they close at 10pm U.K time, the exact time of the Direct, however, customers sometimes realise that they need something last minute, hence why I will watch majority, but miss a few minutes…

    LMFAO PS4 now doubling the Wii U EVERY WEEK!!!
    Nintendo need to wake up the Wii U is dead all over the world!B2 was a massive huge flop as it every 3rd party game released!
    People do not care for the Wii U Nintendo and loser Iwata still actually think that there is a market for them when the PS4 is outselling the Wii U 8-1!!
    The Wii U had its year head start and blew it big time doing NOTHING and delaying game after game thinking rushed 3rd party shit would be enough till the big games arrived!!JOKE!
    Nintendo should scrap the Wii U and just focus on handhelds what they have always been kings of.

      Just because the Wii U isn’t selling as much as the PS4 doesn’t mean that it’s failing, OR that it’s not the greatest console on the market right now. There’s a lot of “hype” surrounding the PS4. And I think that some people are honestly afraid to buy a Nintendo console simply due to peer pressure from their friends who call Nintendo a baby company.

      I’m sure glad that I never cared what people said about Nintendo when I was in school. Then again, Nintendo was DOMINATING the market back then with the NES and SNES. So only complete idiotic retards would talk trash about Nintendo back then. Though I feel that same way now.

    I thought the Wii U was picking up in sales now? That’s what I heard. I also heard that Nintendo is making profit on the Wii U now. But these poor sales in Japan sure don’t look that way.

    See, this is what i’m talking about. The only country that has a good taste in games is Japan… U.K./U.S. charts are a joke compared to the Japanese charts. Japan has diversity, and a mix between handheld and console. Even an Xbox one game. Ps4, Wii U, 3ds, Vita, all in the charts….. U.K. has Fifa and Minecraft, non of which is found here thank god.
