Peripheral manufacturer Hori has created an adorable Pikachu themed GameCube fight pad for the upcoming Super Smash Bros on the Wii U. Unfortunately to use it you need to plug it into your Wii Remote. However, it does come equipped with a rather handy turbo function that comes in three speed settings. If you are interested in importing then you can grab the Pikachu Hori Classic Controller for 3,434 yen.

hori is 3rd party but the battle pads they’re coming out with have the official Nintendo seal on em. Their products are just as good as 1st party though, never had a problem with hori

Because of the possibility of input lag I think. But this gives the controller easy compatibility with all games that use the classic controller.

It’s a Wii classic controller, themed as a GCN controller. Nothing bad about that, though, those work for a lot of games!
There is something bad: input lag and having to set aside a Wiimote.
I’m pretty sure Wii motes don’t lag and this will work just fine. Lots of people use wii mote + nunchuck for competitive Smash play and there’s nothing wrong with it.

Nah, never cared (or noticed) any lag, so’s not really a factor for my part.
Because the controller functions as a Wii Classic Controller. It’s just masquerading as a GameCube controller. It dust recognize soft presses of the shoulder buttons like actual GameCube controllers. Notice the buttons on the top and you’ll see what I mean.

That’s another thing I didn’t like about the Wii. How you had to plug the classic controller etc. into the Wii remote. They should have all been wireless like the Wavebird and the Wii U Pro Controller.
Speaking of Pro Controller, I wish Nintendo would make special Pro Controllers in different colors and themes. Even though I wouldn’t be able to buy any except maybe one. Because official controllers are always freakin’ EXPENSIVE! $40.00 for just one controller is asinine.
If only I could use these on all Wii U games…. I’d get all 3 . Pikachu, Mario, Luigi controllers.
