Nintendo UK Says It Hasn’t Discontinued The GameCube Adapter

We all know that it’s a pain to get hold of at the moment, but Nintendo UK has squashed rumours suggesting that they have discontinued the GameCube controller adapter for Wii U. The firm says that demand is currently outstripping supply and they are working hard to provide additional stock to retailers.

“We would like to reassure you that GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U has not been discontinued by Nintendo of Europe and we are doing everything we possibly can to meet the demand which is currently outstripping supply.

We are unable to comment specifically on individual retailer stock levels and as such we ask customers to contact their local retailers directly regarding their availability of this product. We would however like to reassure you that we are working hard to ensure that additional stock can be made available and delivered to retailers.”

    1. Let me start by saying I had a wonderful weekend.. Yes this wonderlust of the “the great casual purge” consisted of selling ones Nintendo Wii U and using the Judas silver for an XboxONE… And I must say this has been one of the best moves ever.. Stale rehash, rotting flesh that has been kept on life support on a quarter meter or in other words Mario traded for a new era… Yes this smells and taste good. So much to the likes of the clergy though I even forgot for a moment that pleasure first and foremost comes from the fact that I lived to see Robin Williams end painfully.. Its the “small” things we need to cherish… What happens when first party is no longer special.. What happens when the raise of Indies challenge and in many respects makes the creativity of Nintendo seem pathetic.. What happens when this golden goose egg of yours hatches to only reveal a casual gamer who was left behind.. Sasori heeds the warning now the time of seasons and the burning of the “Mongolians of Unnatural Decent” has ended. Iwata fate will be worse than Robins…

      1. Don’t fucking bring Williams into this topic. Asshole and believer of bullshit. That’s just cruel man, it’s like saying your mom’s a whore and I’m happy you’re dad died right before getting you your favourite Christmas gift… Joy. Please don’t be a retard.

Thanks, a human being who is sane

      2. Don’t bring Williams in thsi conversation asshole. It’s like saying I enjoyed your parents being slaughtered tortureously right before getting you that desired christmas gift as a child… The joy. Don’t be an ass.

  1. Great. At least I know that I must continue going to stores, and I’ll be sure to buy 20 bloody adapters, and more. I need some serious cash and this seems great. Depending on how many more they plan to produce. I try to be first to get. I love Pokemon and as they say, “gotta catch em’ all!” If I can’t find them in U.K stores, I shall import from U.S and Canada, and wherever else. I plan 20 and counting! <3

    1. Well, at least I’ll get mine from ebay around Christmas. If I wait for the restock, I might not get it until next year.

I’ve had to wait long enough. I just want to be able to use my goddamn GC controller at this point.

Also, the fact that Nintendo didn’t see the demand for the adapters is baffling. obviously everyone is going to want to use the GC controller adapter and given how many people bought Smash Bros, they should have stocked about as many adapters as they did games.

      1. How come you didn’t preorder ? That’s always the best and safest way to make sure you’ll get the product, especially if it’s something you want really badly.
I was interested in the idea of using a GC controller on the WiiU too, but 50€ (~$60) for a controller I can use on one game only seems to be a bit too much to me, honestly. But of course, that’s just my opiniom. I’m sure anyone who has bought it is having a good time with it.
But yea, to come back to the actual topic, the adapter undoubtedly has been heavily understocked. The fact that it’s going for such exorbitant prices on ebay just shows that demand wasn’t satisfied at all. The reactions on the internet after the adapter + controller were revealed quite obviously showed that there would be very high demand for it, so I’m not sure what Nintendo was thinking, they really messed it up. Stocking as many adapters as there are games would have been a bit overkill imo, but the way it is right now definitely isn’t right either.

  2. The adapters left behind when people fight over them, I suppose. I either way, I reckon I could get all those adapters by being brutal.

    1. the wiiu is not only for the core gamers nintendo will show that when the original nintendo games are released like the mario games

  3. the wiiu is build for casual gamers who bought the original wii who played supermario64 and supermariosunshine and supermariogalaxy and supermariogalaxy3 and supermario3dland

  4. So they aren’t discontinuing the Game Cube controller adapter, yet I thought they were (so I bought one for $70) ANDD they “are” discontinuing the amiibos that I thought would get continued and now if I want them I have to pay inflated prices from jerks on ebay who bought multiples… This system is freaking broken!

-_- I got royally screwed over because of Nintendo’s incompetent ability to C.O.M.M.U.N.I.C.A.T.E. I’m sick and tired of Nintendo’s secrecy! It causes all sorts of problems. I wish they would be more open and straight forward. Tell us everything up front from the very beginning god dammit!

      1. Pussy ass COD worshipping self-racist fucktard confirmed.

Go back to telling your black community how overrated MLK is so that (I hope to god) one of them will end up shooting you in the head for being SO fucking stupid.

  5. Thank god, I haven’t been able to get one yet cause thy keep selling out, and amazon is just way too frickin expensive. Hopefully more will come into stock.

  6. I love all the assholes that rush out to stores and buy the last few adapters just to make some money, what a ******* joke.
    (Yes, I’m feeling salty.)

  7. WIIU A RANGE OF CONTROLLERS ENHANCING GAMEPLAY FORWARD INTO THE FUTURE >>>>CORE GAMING

WIIU A CONSOLE WITH MANY CONTROLLERS >>> CHOICE

    EXAMPLE

PES PS1 PS2 PS3 PS4 CONTROL A PLAYER WHILST THE TEAM IS CPU CONTROLLED

PES WII CONTROL THE ENTIRE TEAM WITH A MOUSE POINTER GIVING TOTAL CONTROL OF ALL 12 PLAYERS

I CAN GO ON ALL DAY WITH XYZ 3 D FACT

WIIU IS THE MOST CORE CONSOLE EVER CREATED

    CONTROLLER LIMITATION LIMITS GAMEPLAY

    CONTROLLER EVOLUTION EXPANDS GAMEPLAY

    ENGINEERING FACT

    1. Or you could say that Nintendo shoehorns unnecessary broken controls just to be different . Motion controls were and continue to be shit.

Pikmin 3 on the game tab worked perfectly when you use the TV, but playing it on the gametab off-tv your hand continuously gets on the way of the view.

Wonderful 101 had really picky touch controls, trying to make a circle around enemies while using it on the TV is one of the most inaccurate and awkward things to do in that game.

  8. wiiu has a mouse pointer that supports 3d mouse

wiiu has two screens for two views or a hud screen and a main screen

    whilst maintaining sticks and buttons

fifa 15 is not NEXT GEN its based on ps1 gameplay

wiiu allows choice play games with a host of many different controls

this is commonsense to a GAMER but not a BRODUDE
