Nintendo of Europe has offered fans a statement in regards to the continuous amiibo stock concerns in the gaming market – but it’s still unclear. Over the past week, there’s been much confusion as to whether certain amiibo models – including Wii Fit Trainer, Marth and Villager – would be discontinued.
According to retailers, the aforementioned models are supposedly “gone forever”. Though we’ve heard conflicting opinions from Nintendo of America representatives saying they would be restocking first wave amiibo with no intent to discontinue for the moment, then later that select amiibo would not be returning due to “shelf space constraints”.
As of yet, there’s still no definitive answer to whether we’ll see Wii Fit Trainer, Marth or Villager return to retailer shelves, however Nintendo of Europe has relayed the following statement to confirm they will always have a “regular supply of Amiibo”.
Nintendo of Europe would like to confirm that supplies of Amiibo are currently available in the European market. Amiibo have been very popular at launch and as such it’s always possible that a few retailers may have sold out. We are continually aiming to always have a regular supply of Amiibo brought into the marketplace and there are many waves of Amiibo to come.

Forget it. I’m jumping off the amiibo train. This has to be some of the worst PR handling of all time, maybe when you fully clear things up then I’ll get some.
That doesn’t even make sense. There’s literally no reason why this affects your decision as to whether to buy them or not – and if you jump off the train now with the intent of rejoining later, then yeah, expect the ones you want to be discontinued by then.
It’s just really confusing to decide which amiibo to get I guess. And I agree Nintendo has not handled the PR well
Yeah, we know know that all Amiibos work with Smash Bros and Mario Kart, but we don’t really know if your Meta Knight will work with Mario Party or if your Wii Fit Trainer will work with Star Fox (etc). And the conflicting opinions of Nintendo reps, rarity of some figures, and monopole on certain characters is making the whole concept a tad confusing.
l still pre-ordered a Captain Falcon Amiibo for my brother, though. Might get him a Lucario, later down the road, too.
If you think about it, you can figure out which Amibos will be rare, and discontinued first. Amibos like Mario, Link, Pikachu, DK, Metroid, Star Fox, Peach, Yoshi, Kirby… These Amibos will pretty much always be in stock. They will never be rare, or worth any money except the 13 dollars you paid for them.
Amibos like Shulk, Marth, (which Marth is already hard to find) Wii Fit, Villager. These Amibos could become rare, and valuable if they are prematurely discontinued. My Shulk is already pre-ordered, and I’m still on the look out for Marth. Those are the only two Amibos I do not have.

I’ll still buy all of them…. Probably keep Wii Fit Trainer and store exclusives in their boxes for now…. anyone else think keeping amiibos in box is a waste of time?
If you want to use them, then just do it. They will still be worth money but of course not as much as a sealed figure.
Just don’t scratch them and keep the boxes and don’t crinkle those. They won’t depreciate (too much) in value if you keep good care of them, but you’ll get more out of them if you both USE them AND sell them when you are done.
Or you could go the incredibly impossible route of collecting two of each amiibo and only opening one, but that is for psychos with money to burn. Even I don’t have that kind of money.
I keep one loose, and one in the box. Yea, it gets expensive buying two of each Amibo, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
I still have doubts on this…

I get the feeling Nintendo isn’t going to pass up this opportunity to take advantage of the high demand for those 3 amiibo. We may not see a ton of them shipped, but I don’t think it’s the last we’ll see of them.

Well, it did certainly get on my nerves to the max when it decided to just quit on me RIGHT BEFORE SMASH BROS arrived. And then I purchased those two MK8 DLC packs. But here I am now with a copy of MK8 and I can’t even play it… I can only look at the stupid box art. And play MK7 on my 3DS which I think is terrible compared to MK8. -_-

They said there would be a steady supply of amiibo, though that doesn’t mean there will be a steady supply of each specific amiibo. Essentially, his statement would still hold true if Nintendo kept producing Mario amiibos but discontinued all others. I’ll keep waiting until they realize how stupid they’re being and decide to make more of the amiibos that are still clearly in high demand.
Screw you Nintendo! Why doesn’t every Nintendo representative get together for a world wide amiibo meeting and pick ONE answer to give, because clearly whatever they are doing now is not working.
