Zelda: Majora’s Mask Music Preserved In Upcoming Remake For 3DS

Nintendo composer Koji Kondo has revealed that Nintendo has preserved the music of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask in the upcoming remake for Nintendo 3DS. While the audio quality has been enhanced for The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, its music remains the same. However, the title did go through some rebalancing to make its audio more suitable for a hand-held device such as the 3DS. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is scheduled to launch in spring 2015.

“Actually, with Majora, we thought it was really important to protect the feeling of the game because the music was tied so well to the original gameplay,” said Kondo. “We’ve done some clean up on the audio quality, but the music itself we haven’t changed.

“We did some rebalancing, of course, to make it sound good on the Nintendo 3DS. Before you were hearing it out of you TV speakers, and we just needed to do some rebalancing for that now that it’s on a handheld.”

  1. Well good, because usually when someone tries to mess with the original music, it ends up sounding like shit, like a lot on the FFX HD Remaster

      1. Have u even listen to MM’s soundtrack? Its still holds up, some minor tweaks is really all its needs so it sounds clear. This is not not lazy, u want lazy check out SE FFVII “remaster”

        1. “So you all have been craving a remaster of Final Fantasy VII!? Well here it finally is!” *gets nothing more than slightly better quality* D’oh!!

  2. When Link played the Song of Time in the Nintedo Direct it appeared a message saying: Return to the First Day? but it didn’t say: save and return to the first day like the original Majora’s Mask. Maybe the save of this remake is different.

  3. So just like Ocarina of Time 3D kept its soundtrack, Majora’s Mask will too. The entire game was eerie, but the soundtrack made it more so. I’m anxiously awaiting this one.

    1. Actually, what they are doing with the Majora’s Mask soundtrack is not the same thing as what they did with Ocarina of Time’s soundtrack. Certain tracks for some temples were changed in OoT3D. For this, they are saying they haven’t touched the music at all & are only fixing the quality of it. Least I hope that’s what they mean.

  4. Please tell me this means they haven’t changed any of the music tracks unlike with Ocarina of Time 3D. *cough*FireTemplemusictrack*cough*

I don’t know why some likes the “muslim version”, it’s boring and just doesn’t fit in Zelda at all…

  5. The music is very important . It is conic and missing with it would turn off a lot of the original fans and pre vent the new ones from having the full experiece . I’m very happy that they decide not to change any thing . I want to experience the game as the developers wanted it to be …..
