Rumour: It Appears As Though Pikmin 3 Could Be Temporarily Discontinued In US And UK

Hoping to get hold of a retail copy of Pikmin 3 for Christmas? Well it looks as though you’re going to have a hard job finding it new if you are in the United States or the United Kingdom. The game is fetching a pretty penny on eBay and is only available from sellers on Amazon US and UK at an inflated price. It looks as though Nintendo may have temporarily stopped retail production, though this is unconfirmed. Still, you can always purchase Pikmin 3 on the Wii U eShop.

Thanks, MontyMole

    1. COD on Xbox one he says as if you can’t play that shit on PS3, 360, and PS4 also. Now if you supported exclusives like Sunset Overdrive then it wouldnt be as weak. For example,” who cares if Pikmin 3 is hard to find, I got Bayinetta 2, Smash Bros Wii U, and MK8.” See how the stament is stronger because you cant play that anyehere else just like you cant play Next starfox, Zelda U, Wooly yarn and Devil’s third without a Wii U. Sad I know.

    1. I’m not sure that that’s true… You forgot about a lot of games with that statement. (Sunset Overdrive, Witcher 3, etc.)

  1. Interesting. Just checked best buy and it’s only available in one store within a 2 hour drive and not available online. Maybe there’s something to this rumor after all.

  2. Will Pikmin amiibo make WiiU more powerufl? I think that RockPikimin amiibo can add more power to WiiU so it can run FFXV

    1. I loved Pikmin2. Best Pikmin. Pikmin 3 would have been cool if it had a ton of creatures and got rid of rock pikmin and returned purple. And had the underground unlimited time tunnels back. And collected all types of stuff besides fruits.

      1. Pikmin 3 was too easy, the new Pikmin felt unessential, and I don’t like the fact that they added a consequence for taking your time (like the 30 day timer in the original). But I have to admit that the graphics really made the game feel so much more alive, and the Pikmin AI is finally not retarded. GamePad use was great but the new control layout for the Wii remote +nunchuck option is meh. Don’t like the fact that they scrapped the different camera zoom ins from Pikmin 2 too.

      2. Pikmin 2 was absolutely amazing, and although I really enjoyed the third iteration it was still a bummer to see how they essentially got rid of the most enjoyable parts of Pikmin 2. Pikmin 3 should’ve grasped that idea of unlimited time in the tunnels and expanded on that (given the Wii U’s capabilities), perhaps making them more difficult and having puzzles that required a bit more time to solve.

I’ll go out on a limb and say that the transition from it being originally developed for the Wii and one of the first AAA HD Nintendo games posed a challenge on the development team and therefore hindered the game’s true potential.

    2. I agree, but just barely. Pikmin 2 had a lot of… filler if you know what I mean. Sometimes the game can just drag on and on from the dungeons, and I actually find Pikmin 3 almost better, but I don’t, because Pikmin 3 was too short… try to figure that statement out xD (Pikmin 2 too long, Pikmin 3 too short… yeah… I guess…)

  3. Fake rumor is fake.

If the retail chains didn’t order it, then supply will be low or nonexistent. Until they can order it from Nintendo, then send by truck to the retailers warehouse, then it has to be entered into the system, then it has to ship to the retail stores. It takes time, especially if they were expecting cause its an older game to sell. Now if Nintendo has been pumping out new copies of it this whole time (and why would they), and they are out of them at their own warehouse add another 2-3 weeks for them to manufacture another set, since its a specialized type of disc (i.e. Not a DVD, CD, or Blu-ray)

Let’s all just use a little common sense, and not say the sky is falling every time Nintendo runs out of stock.

    1. Special type of disc? There just blu rays you moron lol. I used to work in a blu ray factory and we made Nintendo games so don’t bother trying to argue.

  4. I can’t believe it started already . I knew that the WiiU games are going to be a rarity , and re-seller are going to demand top $ , € , £ and ¥ for them . Same as the GCN games . I didn’t think it would happen this soon though …..

  5. NEW PIKMIN3 DLC IN 2015

NEWPIKMIN3DLC IN 2015 OR MY HEAD WILL HURT WITH FRUSTRATION AND FELL VERRY ILL AND UPSET NINTENDO IS FUCKING WITH PEOPLES HEADS

  6. I know I ain’t the biggest Pikmin fan of all time but Pikmin is really cool. I want to play Pikmin 3 properly soon and really get into it more. I do have both themes on my 3DS and have the Movies in HD and 3D. It’s an awesome game. I never played the first two. I can really see Nintendo releasing Pikmin amiibo. It would be stupid not to. Just like Nintendo most likely will release amiibo for Animal Crossing (next year I’m guessing) and the likes of Pokémon for example. amiibo is going to get bigger folks and is here to stay! :D Glad I own a physical copy of Pikmin 3! :)

  7. Part of me wants to say that it’s probably an oversight or unforeseen holiday understocking because they’re obviously all about Pikmin these days at Nintendo. I mean, they just made those short movies and all. The other part of me (this being the part that just recently bought Pikmin 1 & 2 on the Wii and knows how rare they are) thinks maybe with the availability of the game on the eShop that they could definitely be done making it, at least until some kind of Nintendo Selects re-release.

  8. There is evidence to suggest that the Pikmin 3 shortage will continue. Production only occurred for six months following the release.
