Japan: Nintendo 3DS Sells 153K And Wii U Sells 30K (Dec 29 – Jan 04)

We published the Famitsu sales charts on Tuesday, but there seems to be some discrepancy between those and the Media Create sales figures. The Famitsu numbers were apparently the prior week’s numbers which were published late due to the holidays. Anyway, now we’ve got the official Media Create charts which shows us sales data from December 29th to January 4th. Consoles sales have predictably gone down after Christmas with the Nintendo 3DS selling 153K and the Wii U managing 30K. Yokai Watch 2 remains the best-seller post-Christmas and continues to dominate the number one spot. Here’s the best-selling hardware and software in Japan.

        1. Even though your trolling, facts are facts, Nintendo isn’t going anywhere man. most people forget, they have 3 systems going for them or more. so who really cares of the wii u itself is failing, they are still getting the better bet thanks to the 3ds, xl, and soon new…

          1. Who really cares for the Wii U itself? Well, I don’t know. Anyone who bought it?

What logic is there to combine all three against one platform? No. No…

They have 2 systems and a billion redesigns of one of those two.

If you look at it from consumer’s perspective which is what you should be looking from, because if you don’t, then popular games are the only thing that matter. People that bought the Wii U at it’s launch got fucked over because of Nintendo lying that “no droughts this time”. Same thing with the 3DS. Wii U still has no 3rd party, nor will it have it. It’s still lacking basic features…

                1. Yup. I’m smart enough to realize the mistakes Nintendo has made and I don’t sugacoat everything they do. Even though I only own Nintendo products at the moment, it’s still pretty easy to see the issues. With the Wii U’s lack of third party, Nintendo has pretty much forced me to go buy a second console. And I’m not very happy with that. I was really hoping that the Wii U would’ve been on par with Sony And Microsoft’s systems and that there should be no gimmicks, but nope. I was wrong. What I don’t understand is how some people actually get mad at me for being disappointed with the Wii U’s third party. “If you want third party, then go get a PS or Xbox” What kind of an excuse is that? People are basically admitting that it’s ok for Nintendo to be lazy and try not to secure third parties. And that’s the kind of thing that pisses me off with the Nintendo fanbase. I shouldn’t have to buy a second console to cover Nintendo’s mistakes. But sadly, that’s what it’s come to. *sigh*

                  1. Well, I have nothing more to say but one thing…options people, yes I own a wii u, gone through the drought, but Nintendo is not the only one that gone through the drought if you recall, PS4 (no games like wii u) did too, and so did XBone (by sales). But when it really comes down to it, its all about options, that’s why I said that Nintendo isn’t going anywhere and that they are doing just as good. As I said before “Nintendo isn’t going anywhere man. most people forget, they have 3 systems going for them or more”. In this case quantity is just as good as quality, facts are facts.

                    1. I just want more freaking third party support. *sigh* And if doesn’t really matter how long Nintendo is going to be around. If they keep not listening and pretending that people like me don’t exist, then I’m just going to move on to another gaming system…

                      1. Well, I guess I will get MH4U. Caught guarantee I’ll get it soon though. Saving up for a PS4 at the moment. :P

      1. Wii U sales – 9 million

PS Vita sales – 9.6 million

Not to mention that the Vita has strongly benefited from Japanese gamers being more enticed with handheld/mobile gaming than they are with home consoles and it’s been out longer than the Wii U but aside from that I’m pretty certain that the Wii U will outsell it lifetime this year with Kirby And The Rainbow Curse, Yoshi’s Wooly World, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Rodea The Sky Soldier, Xenoblade Chronicles X and the new Zelda coming this year

        1. That´s gonna happen earlier than people think. Probably my February or March WiiU will outsell Vita definetely

      2. Apparently WiiU worldwide sells a lot better than Vita. Vita has some relevance only in Japan, not in Europe or Americas

    1. lol excuse me? nobody bashes the vita. it’s great. but people says it’s selling bad, it isn’t. not in japan anyways. but some people think the usa is the whole world. assholes. =/

    2. The whole playstation brand is completely on the up. Well done to them. It will completely wipe the floor this generation

      1. yes Famitsu’s number were last week just like Media Create posted last weeks numbers on Tuesday due to Japanese holiday. Also, Famitsu and Media Create does have a difference between consoles sold last week, this week and most week. It would be odd if two companies had the exact same number.

        1. I find it funny how comments here evolved

Last year: Damn Wii U and 3DS games and hardware sure are crushing PS sales XDDDD

Few months ago: Damn Wii U and 3DS (combined) hardware and software sure are crushing PS4 and Vita sales!

Recently: Damn Wii U and 3DS (combined) hardware sure are crushing Xbox One and Vita sales!

          1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Of course, our Homeworld shall always be ours, and if it gets too alarming, top classified orders will surely emerge…
