Grant Kirkhope Promises Something Interesting For Banjo Kazooie Fans In Next Month’s EDGE

Former Rare developer Grant Kirkhope has taken to Twitter to inform Banjo Kazooie fans that there will be something interesting for them in next month’s edition of EDGE magazine. Kirkhope has warned fans that it isn’t the announcement of Banjo Threeie that we’ve been waiting for, and it doesn’t involve either Microsoft or Rare. Let’s hope it turns out to be as interesting as he says.

Update: It’s either A Hat In Time, Gory Detail or Banjo spiritual successor according to this video.

Thanks, TeddyGratata

      1. That was actually supposed to be a response to nonon but i guess for some reason i magically didnt press the reply button which i clearly did.

  1. I have to say a music compliation with all the classics or it can be A Hat In Time like what the above guy said. Since we have little to no updates nor an update if it’s coming for the wii u or not.

  2. Meh, don’t like Banjo-Kazzoie. Reminds me too much of the bob omb field in Mario 64. It’s a lazy design, it’s just a bunch of grass and hard edges. big, open, green places. Yeah, that’s the game people like…lame.

      1. Mario 3D World is better and you know it. It has the smooth many colour graphics and swift, controlled, small place gameplay. That way eyes are not strained and people play a game happy.

        1. 3D world is garbage. It was bland and forgettable. Mario 64 was a far superior game than 3D World. 3D world felt like a 3D mario trying to be a 2d mario. They were even too lazy to add actual analog input. I’m still waiting for a true 3D mario platformer on the Wii U.

        2. You compared a 1998 game to a 2013 game visuals? That’s dumb. But Banjo Kazooie is better. The music on 3D world is forgettable and it’s no longer 6 power stars. They hold your hand to find the green stars . You can’t go anywhere you want to go. Once you are on a stage on 3D world and you keep going, you can’t go the start. You have time limits. On M64 Mario could punch and kick. Nintendo soften Mario since Galaxy. Don’t carry me to the jigsaw or power star, let me find my own damn stars.

              1. I got 2 games when I got my N64, 1 of which was Banjo Kazooie (the other was OoT).

I played Mario 64 some time later, & I disliked it. However, Banjo Kazooie (& Tooie) were still better 3D platformers imo. Oh, & Majora’s Mask (yea, gold cart!) was imo better than OoT.

I tried Sunshine & didn’t like that 3D Mario either. But Galaxy was the only 3D Mario game I liked (have yet to play World). G2 felt comparatively loose, though still better than Mario Sunshine & 64. But I’d prefer a true Banjo Kazooie game over 3D Mario any day. Sadly, the Rare I knew deteriorated since Star Fox Adventures.

    1. Banjo Kazooie = Nintendo.

Not to mention he said it would make Banjo fans “excited” – Implying those who loved the original two.

      1. Exceot they’re the ones who killed Rare and their IPs so even if they try something, the fans won’t be too happy about and also put a bump on their precious Xbox “reputation”.

        1. Why you think Crapcom hasn’t tried suing Comcept over Mighty No. 9 “copyrighting” Megaman yet? Because the fanbase will revolt and defend the other since the company who owns those original IPs tarnished it and the fans as well so it’ll destroy the rest of the suing company’s credibility or whatever is left that they threw out for dumb quick profit schemes that backfired royally.

      2. Can’t sue over something “similar” look at all the Flappybird and Minecraft clones. Plus how many times has Nintendo been sued and lost? Yeah…hardly ever I don’t care if Microsoft has almost infinite money, if they sued Nintendo, Nintendo would win lol. Also Nintendo could say hey…didn’t we start a D-Pad and rumble feature in a controller and motion controls? And yet you did that? Then Microsoft would be like shit….they’re right we copied them….okay we will back off…Nintendo doesn’t “lose” in the end, they never do.

  3. No one sensible was getting excited anyway, being as Microsoft and Rare both suck and Banjo Threeie would just be a further insult to fans of the series anyway.

          1. I don’t buy that because you didn’t provide an explanation. A good chunk of Mario 64’s levels are a random selection of platforms scattered around in a nonsensical way. There isn’t very much detail to them either. I’ll admit the controls (except the flying) are slightly better than BK but the level design, music, characters, story/dialogue, and how well both games have aged definitely favors BK. I played Mario 64 before BK even came out too so it’s not like I’m beeing overly nostalgic towards one either.

  4. If Kirkhope is in charge of the OST, this is bound to be amazing.
It will most likely be a spiritual successor, like how Inafune reinvented Megaman

  5. Ohhhh if only Nintendo didnt just fork Rare over to Microsoft.we could have been a Fifthiooie by now. But Nintendo is stupid so……. Just sat there and didn’t do a damn thing. They could have at least put money down to Kazooie and Tooie or had Rare sign a contract for 5 banjo Kazooies for Nintendo. Nintendo is so stupid. As for Kirkhope it’s probably some Soundtracks going to iTunes.

      1. He can like or not like our empire, what bothers me is that the minute he reads a “negative” news, he starts bashing them like no tomorrow and when it’s something good, suddenly they are the Gods of everything while bashing the other 2 misbreeds…

Either he has some serious autistic disorder or is just plain stupid…

        1. The only thing I don’t bash is the quality of their games. Then only thing I do bash is how they acted like 2008 when making the Wii U that making it the way they did was a great idea. Pro controller is $50 yet is limited. Yet they can get the Gamepad to work Wii U tittles and not Wii mode. If you paid attention I never bash them for the quality of their games. Liking an empire is bashing them for their dumb decisions. If you have a child you are going to whip the child to get better not laugh with the kid. Or the child will just get worse. That’s why Nintendo thought a system a little more powerful than PS3 would sell because Wii did. Now they know the fusion will need more power.

        2. The only God I worship is the God of Israel. I put no other Gods before Ahayah Asher Ahayah (I am That I Am) Exodus 3:14. Since you aren’t an Israelites he doesn’t care of you worship other gods.

          1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Believing in Gods is primitive and ignorant, keep believing in such garbage while I evolve myself into a God myself…

              1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

                1. I don’t care…

                2. It’s another human nonsense…

                3. I have better things to do than reading fairy tales made up by adults back in the hebrew times to control all of you that falls into this garbage…

                4. Civilisations before any of your useless Abraham religions were far more intelligent and had way more knowledge about everything until your kind destroyed everything…

                5. And you are a typical religious creature that doesn’t know where it stands considering you change your point of view on Nintendo depending on what news you read…

If you read that they are doing 4 Gamepads usage at the same time tomorrow, you would bow down and think you are in heaven…

Now kneel or keep your mouth shut…

                1. I wouldn’t bow down as if I were in heaven if Wii u handled 4 gamepads. This ain’t my kingdom Edomite. Its yours. The Israelites are waking up to their real nationality every single day. And we 144,000 from the 12 tribes come the Edomite nation is done.

                2. Actually the nation that destroyed everything was Greece, Rome, Spain, France, Germany, Russia and Great Britain. Those are the 7 edomite empires and 7 heads on the beast. America is Babylon. The bitch who exercises alllllll the rules from the first beast. January, February, march and Roman numerals. Monday Tuesday. The image of the beast is Ceaser Borgio. Google it.

                3. Don’t know what a Moabite or edomite or Ishmalite is…..sad I know. The only nation with its original name atr the Egyptians and Ethiopians. But they are hamites.

                  1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Whatever you humans call yourselves, you are all flawed just the same and need to be extinct as soon as possible…

You are nothing but cattle that thrives on misery and pain and soon your time will end and then you’ll all realise that there are no such thing as Gods and other fairytales…

      2. Don’t like Nintendo you say? Ignoring I own a NES, N64, Gamcune, Wii, Wii U, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, DS and 3Ds. But I don’t like Nintendo. I bash him for the better. If they don’t see cimplaints how they going to change? The Camry has good quality because Camry buyers fill out a survey and ask for additional comments to better their products. Nintendo just assumes we like Mario Kart 8 and rid the arena stages and we have to wait until Mario Kart 9 to battle on arena stages because they lacked Custer feedback.

    1. Nintendo sold Rare because many Rare employees had already left, changing who they were & what they were devving felt lackluster, especially the time they were taking on projects. Selling them seemed more lucrative. But selling them w/ out their IPs, especially the bigger 1s, would’ve made the deal less attractive if not impossible depending on MS’ stipulations.

      1. Last I checked after star fix adventures David Wise and Grant hope. Still worked their. Also what dumbtendo should have did was force Rare to sell threeie for GameCube anyway. The box art was done so the game was complete or almost complete. That was stupid

        1. Huh, I must’ve missed the Banjo Threeie stuff back in the day. Had I caught that, I certainly would’ve been hyped for it. I would’ve also been more disappointed w/ Nintendo for selling Rare, too. It was sad & a bit scary when that news hit (scarier was MS’ offer to buy Nintendo).

However, I did a quick Google search & found this Banjo Threeie article from Unseen64:

          Banjo Threeie [GameCube Tech Demo]
          http://www.unseen64.net/2008/04/16/banjo-threeie-gamecube-tech-demo/

“Among the many presentations and new titles submitted during Spaceworld 2000, we can also find the interesting Banjo-Threeie tech demo. It was not really meant to be a video from a new game, but just a “recycled” footage from previous Rareware games (it contains even some Conker stuff), created to demonstrate the capabilities of the Gamecube.

“We can see two situations: in the first Banjo and Kazooie in a canyon (some have suggested that this canyon is the same one from Diddy Kong Racing), chased by enemies from the previous Banjo games. The second situation is set in the disco level of Conker’s Bad Fur Day.

“After the purchase of RARE by Microsoft, the third chapter in the saga of Banjo was released for the XBOX 360 and of course the old tech demo for Gamecube has never become a real game.”

Back then, my main gripes w/ Nintendo was them NOT making the 1st GCN Zelda like the Spaceworld Zelda demo. But Wind Waker was released, & it’s art-style ended up being a stroke of genius. I am still disappointed Retro cancelled Raven Blade, & still curious about the other projects they cancelled for Metroid Prime. But there again, 3 Primes (so far) & 2 Kongs certainly made up for it.

  6. Calling it; a competitive online mon game in which all 151 capturable creatures are named after pejoratives directed at Rare’s longtime fans because Microsoft is evil.

  7. Okay, if it’s a spiritual successor to BK, and it comes to all consoles including Wii U, I’m officially going to flip my shit.
    I want a new Banjo game that isn’t a lame car-building lego sim…

  8. I really hate the “FU Microsoft, give Rare back to Nintendo” mentality people have. The staff former staff members live on in other divisions.
