Banjo Kazooie Spiritual Successor In This Month’s EDGE And Wii U Could Be Target Platform

We knew the latest edition of EDGE magazine would have something Banjo Kazooie related and we weren’t wrong. The publication has an interview with Playtonic which consists of six people working on a spiritual successor to the beloved Banjo Kazooie. The team says that they would love to see the game on Nintendo platforms. The six man team already has funding, but is looking for a publisher.

Yes there is an interview with Playtonic, there’s 6 full time staff now and they hope to grow to 15 staff. First game is a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie and they have funding but would like to work with a publisher if it is mutual. “There’s a history of working with Nintendo so we’d naturally love to see our game on a Nintendo platform. If people tell us to make Wii U our target console platform then we’ve got the flexibility to do that.

Thanks, Kenji

  1. I wonder why Nintendo won’t put money into this? They know a game like this is what Wii U needs. But Nintendo is stupid when it comes to something that makes sense to help their home console.

      1. Me more stupid than Nintendo. Funny Toyota thinks like me and the Camry is still one of the world’s best selling globally. Nintendo doesn’t think like me and both consoles outsold Wii U. But I’m more stupid than Nintendo. Nintendo should had put money into this to become their publisher and make it an exclusive and cancel it going to Steam and other consoles,

      2. well nintendo is kinda smart though because activision wanted the newest skylander to be on the wiiu/3ds only but nintendo said no… guess because nintendo made amiibo after activision wanted to work with nintendo on the next skylander series. nintendo also smart that will not allow ea origin to be used on the wiiu

    1. Jtz from Judah Tribe: Where in this article does it mention anything about Nintendo not wanting to put any money into it? If you read the post correctly, a few people are already funding it.

Hardly stupid from their point. That’s like saying Microsoft or Sony would be stupid for not funding a game that would be going onto their system.

    2. They already said they have funding, Nintendo doesn’t need to put money into it. They are looking for a publisher not a financier.

      1. jtz just likes to find every stupid opportunity to make fun of nintendo when its irrelevant to the article just ignore him just another troll in this site

    1. Xbox is dumb. They own Banjo and just has him sitting in a volt in prison. That’s a money making franchise when used right.

      1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

The Xbots can’t use anything and make it right, they only make things worse no matter what…

      2. It’s because Microsoft poured millions into “Nuts And Bolts” and it bombed. They lost money on it, and now they are gun-shy to make another one. If they had any intelligence they would know what went wrong with Nuts and Bolts and would realize how to remedy the problem.

And besides, they bought Rare to get them away from Nintendo, not to own their I.P.’s.

    1. Pandas and Zebras seems to be the trending animal craze. Hopefully the zebra will wear glasses and the panda will be from a non-oriental setting. Pandas from Alaska and zebras from Kuwait is what I’m betting on

    1. God thing they didn’t. I wouldn’t had enjoyed Tropical Freeze one of my favorite Wii U tittles. I really really love that game.

  3. Banjo Kazooie was one of my favorite games of all-time so please, please, please Nintendo publish this game. It is what a lot of Nintendo fans have been craving for

  4. Why don’t they call or email Nintendo and get a meeting with them and show them the game and get it on the WII U NOW?!!!!???

So who’s going to be Mumbo Jumbo? Gosh I missed that skull turning Banjo into whatever he needed him to be.

  5. That sounds interesting. I’ve never played the Banjo Kazooie games but I’m a fan of 3D platformers. If this game can get a spiritual successor, maybe there’s still hope for ol’ Crash Bandicoot.

  6. I own both Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie. But I’ve never played either of them (except for just briefly looking at them). I can’t tolerate looking at N64 graphics in this day and age.

Then that’s sad for you. Though your never used cartridges could be worth a lot of money on eBay.

Remember how Kazooie and Bottles the mole always got into it with each other? I loved it.. also I hope the boss has rhymes.

Remember these rhymes: “Here he is the fun beginsmy tricks and traps let’s see who wins” or this: ” What’s wrong Banjo is it tough. Let me know when you had enough” “That was a secret how did you know? Did my sister tell you so?” That Jiggy was for me now harder still the game will be” “Oh Banjo I watch you play and can’t think of much to say” oh that brings back memories.

Ding Pot Dig Pot on the wall who’s the prettiest of all? Don’t fight and scratch my little bear you’ll soon need bigger underwear. Hurry Klungo press that switch I’m tired of being an ugly witch. Hear the crowd they boo and hiss to see you fail they will not miss. Tooth says she’s fine with me. If you go home I’ll I’ll set her free. That was a secret how did you know? Did my sister tell you so?

  9. Get this wrong for Grunty sakes and a lava bath you will take. You pick up jiggies really loud which character makes this silly sound?

  10. Wii U already has the best games… so Nintendo doesn’t necessarily “need” this. My wallet’s hurting already. Zelda and Xenoblade X would be enough for me this year, but if they plan to release it all the better i suppose. It’s just a pity all the PsBox owners miss another potentially great game. Oh well, it’s a cruel world. Haha!

  11. This article is kinda misleading. The developers indicated that the game would be a spiritual successor to the adventure games of Rare’s past – not to Banjo-Kazooie itself. Microsoft still owns the intellectual properties of the characters. Just a heads up !

  12. My biggest fear with these classics making a comeback is that not enough people today will give a rats ass about them. Other than people who know them from their childhood.

If it’s got a very similar vibe to the original Banjo & Kazooie, like how Mighty No 9 has a Mega Man vibe, I will gladly buy this game if it comes to the Wii U.

Anyway, if Ubisoft or EA is allowed to be the publisher, we’re screwed as these two publishers have apparently made it their goal to screw Nintendo’s Wii U.

Banjo Kazooie must have rhymes. Without the rhymes how will it bring up those old childhood times?
