PlayTonic, the exciting new studio which is hard at work on what they say is the spiritual successor to the beloved Banjo Kazooie, have recruited three Rare veterans to help with the soundtrack and sound effects. They’ve managed to nab ex-Rare veteran composers Grant Kirkhope, David Wise & Steve Burke to help out on the 3D platformer which will hopefully be unveiled soon. While information is fairly scarce on the project, you can take a look at the art work, here.
Okay, I’m officially more excited for this than any upcoming games. This is pretty much a dream come true for those of us that have been waiting for a new Banjo-Kazooie. Good times.
David Wise? I’M IN 500%!!!!!!!!
He’s in?! Hell yes!
High Command better assimilate this uprising tribe at once!
No, let them stay 100% Independent. They get the funding without a Publisher, and they want the creativity to do what they want. They do their best when not owned by anyone, even back in the past as Rare, Nintendo owned only 49% of them. Let them stay free.
stfu how the fuck are you so sure they owned only 49%? what are you? some kind of wizard who knows all?
Because it is well known that Nintendo owned 49% of Rare…
*cough* Wikipedia *cough*
Wikipidea, Nintendo themselves, the Stamper Brothers and even MS (yes, Microsoft) have all stated that Nintendo only owned 49% of the Rare Stock.
Its also pretty much common knowledge since it’s been talked about to death already.
I was just stating the easiest place to find that fact lol
Lol sorry, the obvious is pretty hard to understand in this website XD, also Wikipedia has been said to be unreliable in the past.
Sweet hopefully they stick with Wii U as one of their targets
Suppose there exists an excitement level x. If there is a Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor, then x > 9000.
come on Sick, why do you use that image?
An N64 era banjo-kazooie image would be 1k times better than that atrocity that microsuck tired to sell as a banjo-kazooie game.
esp. since kazooie’s model looks so bad in that game
Microsuck? How old are you, 12?
It’s a modern image with is better than the original
I was going to suggest this! thank you
This is brilliant I’ll definitely pick this game up, i have great memories with Rare classics my favourite being DK64. Frankly I hope the console version is exlusive to WiiU as one of the developers said it would feel more at home. I also hope that Nintendo will eventually buy the studio as they did with Rare and purchase all Rare franchises and characters back from Micorsoft. A man can dream can’t he?
Impossible. And Nintendo never bought Rareware, they only ever owned 49% of the company. And This new studio MUST REMAIN 100% FREE. They said they already get all the funding they need without a publisher, and they want to do things their way, they MUST remain independent.
They said they would be fine making it Wii U exclusive of they have to
They shouldn’t make it Wii U exclusive. Unless they want it it sell 200 copies, then they better make it multiplat. Damn you Nintendroids are desperate for exclusives.
plz we have enough can’t say the same the thing with u twins
also I clicked the page and you defiantly can tell how they are in fact older men
So glad they got those composers, some of the best. Now, it would be cool if they got the main guy leading Conker’s Bad Fur day…and what happened to that dog face wheel puzzle game he was making for the Wii U eshop? Haven’t heard about it in such a long time.
The guy who made Conker made his own Studio called Gory Detail. So he wont just abandon his studio.
Thanks guys. Of course i should have checked.
Check the website
So the music sounds will be the same so hurry y’all make this game.
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! Once it comes to the U.
Where do I pre-order. The can take my money now.
F=ma.
David Wise! FUCK YES!!!! If you aren’t familiar with him, he did the music in the Donkey Kong games, most recently Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. Alright well this team is shaping up to regain their magic! And I am fully on board with this!
and the guys on microsoft are not supervising the project, they are free to do what they feel is perfect for the project!
What? Microsoft has nothing to do with these guys currently? If your saying Microsoft is not supervising Rareware currently, then first that’s a lie, second, it’s irrelevant anyway since every one of the des at Rareware are useless anyway.
This isn’t Rare…
Actually it is
No its not, its former members of Rare. These guys have nothing to do with Rare anymore.
Holy shit David Wise take my money
Damn this game is pure hype but still it may not come to the Wii U
These guys said they would be fine making it a Wii U exclusive if they have to. All other Former Rare products (including Seavor’s new IP) all came to Wii U
This game might end up being pretty cool. Hopefully it’ll have a similar play-style as the first two Banjo games. I liked the since of humor used in the first Banjo games, but I’m afraid they might push the humor too much in this game to a point that seems forced.
Playtonic and Nintendo need to join forces to buy back Banjo-Kazooie
Grant Kirkhope and David Wise? Holy shit.
Playtonic could be Nintendo’s new RARE (Super NES & N64 eras).
Also if Nintendo would buy Playtonic they can make a 3D Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong Racing. A Conker bad fur day spiritual successer and more 3D platformers besides just Mario.
Grant Kirkhope AND David Wise? holy asscheeks welp now I’m a whole lot more interested in the game. Sorry to say I’m not too familiar with this Steve fellow :T
Who wrote the lines for Gruntilda? They need him back for the rhymes.
Well, this is cool.
I loved David Wise’s work on Diddy Kong Racing. I have a lot of nostalgia with that soundtrack. I grew up listening to this guy’s music, I played Marble Madness, DKR, all three original Donkey Kong Countries, and Banjo-Kazooie. I’m hyped.
I love Steve Burkes music too; Viva Piñata, Banjo Kazooie, Kameo… He’s had oodles of award nominations!
hmmm… well i would say i’m hopefull! but do they even remember how to make a game like that in this day and age ? that is what worries me the most! i don’t think i have seen a platform/collecting game with puzzles since the ps2/gamecube! it’s all about the voilence-crime-war- ass&boobs now! do you guys really think people will flood back to that genre? i know the old fans will but will that be enough ?
Just a fyi Microsoft isn’t in the business of selling its IP’s. It buys them to profit on them just like it buys patents to profit on them so to think a IP they own will be on another console other the. Xbox would be silly unless they were profiting off it
I’m tired of all this “Spiritual Successor” bullcrap.
Just buy the IPs and give us and ACTUAL Banjo-Kazooie game.
