Koei Tecmo Says Hyrule Warriors Has Brought Freshness To The Series

The Dynasty Warriors series has been around for a long time and Koei Tecmo producer Akihiro Suzuki says that he was pleased to team up with Nintendo for Hyrule Warriors as he believes it has brought freshness to the series. Suzuki recently admitted that over the years they’ve seen a sales decline in the franchise which he says has been given a new breath of life with Hyrule Warriors.

The franchise has been going on for quite a while now. People are getting used to the whole package – the gameplay, the plotline and the atmospheric setting of the game. But we need to make sure we’re keeping the series as fresh as it can be for future instalments.

      1. I remember you being disappointed about HW having no online. Just so you know, the other Dynasty Warriors games have online. Just in case you’re interested.

        1. Well that and when I tried the game, it felt slow paced and repetitive. Same fucking enemies and online being omitted while Bayonetta 2 has online Tag Climax/Co-Op modes only adds more disappointment. I rather wait for Zelda Wii U and buy Majora’s Mask 3D, you know, REAL Zelda games I can enjoy.

    1. Is a sequel really needed though? I mean, there is only so much you can do with the franchise, and I don’t think a sequel would feel too different from the first entry, as they would have to use the same characters for the most part. And you just can’t change too much about a DW game, other than changing characters, environments, but as I’ve said, since it’s tied to the TLoZ franchise, the options are relatively limited.
So yea, I personally don’t see much room for changes honestly, so a sequel isn’t all too necessary, in my opinion. However, if they can truly make it different from the first Hyrule Warriors, I’m sure it would be greatly appreciated by fans of the game.

      1. Dynasty Warriors is on its 8th game, Samurai Warriors is on its 4th.
Warrior’s Orochi that smashes the warriors games is on third and countless other Warriors spin offs.
They could drag it along to no end, but there is still some room for improvement for Hyrule Warriors.

    2. If they do, I’m hoping for a much larger selection of levels to play on instead of the same 4 levels (Death Mountain, Ganon’s Tower, Solidus Cave, and Gerudo Desert) over and over again in Adventure Mode. (We need some MM and WW recognition in the next HW game if they make it, also we either need a longer Legends Mode to showcase a larger amount of levels or Adventure Mode exclusive levels, which would be nice.) I kinda think some cool new levels could be Stone Tower (MM), Forsaken Fortress (WW), and maybe the Dark World/Lorule from ALTTP/ALBW. They also need to make it so that you can maybe craft gold materials out of 5-10 silver materials from that same enemy depending of the rarity of that gold material. (Also the ability to sell materials for rupees for more possibilities) There’s a lot I would like for a new HW game. (I want them to not reuse the same HW only characters -Lana, Wizzro, Cia, Volga- so that it feels fresh though. Also keep certain DLC characters as regular characters, and remove characters that feel like they shouldn’t have been added like Agitha). Also, there needs to be a more involved Adventure Mode in my opinion. It shouldn’t feel like they just slapped a bunch of levels with random objectives in it. (I want their to be a lot less of the same thing per Adventure Map square. For example, maybe 3-4 quiz levels max, 3-4 devastating attack levels, and a lot more diverse level scenarios and missions.) Wow I really rambled on for a long time.

    1. I’m kinda glad and sad that they didn’t go for a Zelda > DW style in place of the current DW > Zelda style. It would be neat to see how Zelda could be dominant over DW in terms of having puzzles and such.

Don’t mind him. If I’m not mistaken, he’s one of those fanatic Zelda purists that acts like anything that isn’t the traditional Zelda gameplay is just as bad as the horrible CD-i games.

    1. It wasnt that bad I mean, it was good for killing the time at least, most of the cutscenes gave me cancer, but meh. Good for us the game has nothing to do with the franchise (I think I read that from a nintendo magazine).

  1. SUPER MarionWarrior. Thousands of goombas, or koopas being smashed. Boweser, peach, luigi, playsble. Use some obscure bosses ,like Wart.. etc.

  2. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Give me a sequel, Koei Tecmo! Don’t listen to the whiny Zelda purists that act like anything that changes the gameplay drastically from the traditional Zelda gameplay is horrible like the CD-i games or Zelda cartoon. After all, they are just jaded because of the horrible CD-i games & terrible Zelda cartoon. I like to have at least one or two series that don’t change the gameplay much between games. There’s plenty of Zelda material future Hyrule Warriors games can use for future games.

I swear! What is with some of these people acting like fanatic fanboys when a spin-off tries to do something different from the usual fanfare of the main, canon series? Just like how people act like Shadow the Hedgehog was a blight on the Sonic games. Speaking of, it’s kind of lame everyone seems to want every hero in a Sonic game to be a carbon copy of Sonic when it comes to speed.
