The fact that we can decide which character we would like in Super Smash Bros is fantastic. However, it might only be limited to Nintendo characters. I know a few of you have voted for King K. Rool and also Banjo has been added to the mix with Xbox boss Phil Spencer giving him the nod. A recent post on the official Super Smash Bros Facebook page says the following:

I’m glad you can forget him. I can’t because he’s a fucking playable character from the Majora’s Mask DLC pack for Hyrule Warriors instead of Skull Kid. It’s their 3rd biggest mistake with the game after no online co-op & revealing every character for the game and leaving no surprise characters to unlock or encounter in the game for when it finally released.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who wants Medusa, but it’s sad to say that Viridi and Hades will overshadow her because of popularity and “muh relevance”. She would still be a great addition since she was from the first game (Like Pit and Palutena) and could turn people to stone for good measure.

You’re just interpreting things way to literally – Snake was in Brawl in spite of his franchise being mostly Playstation and Xbox (at least nowadays), and Sonic, Pac Man and Mega Man are all characters in 3DS/Wii U in spite of being multiplatform, and with at least Sonic, he only got in due to how often requested he was.
Not to mention the Rayman trophies as well as the Commander Video trophy.
While I understand that it’s a lot easier for Nintendo to use first-party characters instead of third-party ones, they’re not closed to the ideas to third party ones simply due to their appearances in Brawl and 3DS/Wii U.

Though, I honestly believe Rayman has a shot at becoming a fighter too- he and several other Rayman series characters already have trophies in the games. If Ubisoft is willing to work with Nintendo to get him in, I say go for it- it would be a first step towards rectifying things with Nintendo supporters for all the recent crap they’ve pulled.
I doubt that it’ll be only nintendo characters, because there’s basically no other nintendo character to release, apart from maybe waluigi. They could release even more pokemon, but i doubt that will be the case.

That, and Robin was specifically made playable instead of Chrom because Sakurai doesn’t want characters who are exclusively swordsman represent the Fire Emblem games.

I’d say that depends on your Star Fox fan lol. There’s the fans that hate anything post 64, and the ones the prefer post 64. The ones who prefer the old school ones much prefer Katt, and lots have no clue who krystal is just like you don’t know who katt is. Krystal comes from a game that isn’t even really star fox. It was Dinosaur Planet and they slapped Star Fox on it at the last minute.
I’d rather have Krystal over Katt Monroe. If done right, least Krystal would be completely different from the other Star Fox representatives because of her staff from Star Fox Adventures. Katt Monroe would just get the same treatment as Falco & Wolf and be bordering on clone status.

Too bad a lot of people couldn’t appreciate the game as at least a spin off with different game play since it’s a great game with a ton of beautiful music & could get challenging at times. Maybe if it ever gets an HD remaster, it will be given the love it deserves like with Wind Waker HD.
Honestly it probably would do better now, a lot of people have gotten over stuff from when they were younger. Like in Wind Waker I HATED Tingle but when I played the HD remake I didn’t mind him half as much. I don’t really see why you are still hating on Wii Fit Trainer. After playing with her, I actually enjoy the character & the fact she uses a lot of yoga/exercise techniques as attacks. In fact, exercise is key to keeping your body fit so you can actually be a better fighter. A guy or gal that doesn’t exercise would be creamed by a person that does exercise. With that said, I’d say she’s more deserving of being a fighter than say Villager & Mii who ironically actually work well as fighters.

Gotcha lol. I’m not a fan myself but I’m not gonna go nuts over it. She does have a unique moveset, that’s for sure. Her moves are all weird from what little I used her. I think that’s why I get thrown off the few times I play her is cause not only do I not know her moves well enough, but they move differently than most moves. I just have no interest in using her myself cause I don’t like the wii fit stuff cause it symbolizes nintendo catering to casuals to me, and I find her look to be boring as well. I do love the fact that she uses yoga moves though, that is respectable. I’m not fighting to get her out of the game though, and I will have no problem playing against a wii fit player. As long as they don’t spam volleyballs and salute the sun or whatever it’s called all day. That gets annoying lol.

And then there’s the second-stringers as well. There are literally dozens of Nintendo characters that should be considered before Waluigi is even mentioned.
Off the top of my head – just from Zelda, there’s Impa, Midna and Wolf Link, Tetra, Vaati, Ghirahim, Demise, Yuga, or a major Zora or Goron character; from Golden Sun, there’s Isaac, Felix, and Matthew; Reyn, Dunban, Fiora from Xenoblade; any of the main characters from the Wars (best known as Advance Wars) series; so many Fire Emblem characters (and yes, besides sword-fighters); Samurai Goroh, Black Shadow, Blood Falcon, Jody Summer, Krystal, King K. Rool, Geno, Takamaru, Dillon, Mallo; and there’s too many Pokemon that could be made playable to count, but there’s still of course the two untapped classic fighting Pokemon, Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan…
Oh, and they could also include characters from the likes of Codename: S.T.E.A.M., Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles X etc. to promote them, alike what they did by including Roy in Melee…..

I suggest Takamuru, no one said yet that Assist Trophies can’t become playable characters in the same game. He is one of Nintendo’s oldest and more obscure characters. In fact his little status in the west is the reason he was cut from being a playable fighter in this game (which is ironic since western players were introduced to the Fire Emblem series in Melee. I know how much people want Dixie, K Rool, and an Ice Climber but lets have a new franchise representive

King k. Rool is own by Nintendo, the only reason why Kremlins and King. K Rool haven’t been in the new DKCR games is because nintendo and retro wanted to do there own thing. However, Kremlins are in Smash Run for 3DS, King K. Rool is a trophy in Melee and Smash 4, and King K. Rool has made appearances in other games like Mario Super Sluggers for Wii.

Medusa: would probably be too similar to Palutena. Takamaru: probably a slower, wingless, and less air-based Meta Knight on crack. K. Rool: could be interesting. Pr. Daisy: ugh, she would basically be a Peach clone. Cia: just look at her, no way she’s getting in LOL. Lark: wat. Impa: I think she could be like a playable version of Magnus from KI:U. Black Mage: Don’t know that one either. Mona: actually could be nice… I’m still gonna vote for Dixie Kong though…

I did vote for Geno and Mallow, but if it’s only Nintendo characters, I plan on voting for Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, Krystal, and a grass Pokemon starter (probably Sceptile). I’d like to see another character for the DK and Star Fox franchise. I’m voting for Krystal since she will add a pole arm character. The grass starter would be cool, so they can have all starter types represented.

If they can make Banjo happen, they will. They know just how much people would love that. It might mean them buying the character from Microsoft, but I’d happily pay double or even triple the price for Banjo to compensate.

Rool from Donkey Kong Country, Birdo from Mario Tennis, Inklings from Splatoon, Ice Climber from Ice Climber, Medusa from Kid Icarus, Impa from Skyward Sword, and that’a all I can really think of from Nintndo that should make it into Smash Bros.

Well, if they allow the idea of bumping up Assist Trophies to full characters, then yeah Lyn would be nice.
*sniffles* I’ve been wanting a playable Lyndis in Smash since seeing her as an assist trophy in Brawl. She was my favorite character in the first Fire Emblem released in the US, after all.
