Nintendo Japan has confirmed today that they’re working on a patch that will hopefully resolve connectivity issues with Mewtwo in Super Smash Bros. The issues aren’t just related to 10-Man Smash, but also other single player modes such as Classic, All-Star, Stadium, Trophy Rush modes in the game. Nintendo has advised players to avoid these single player modes with Mewtwo for the time being while they work on rolling out a patch. Basically regular Smash, Smash Tour and online play are unaffected by the recent bug.

What this means is that you can play as Mewtwo online, but you can’t use Mewtwo in any of the modes that set high scores, because Mewtwo was added in and is glitching on the score system.
When Mewtwo glitches on the score system the game translates it as a corrupt saved game and corrupt files are banned from playing online, because naturally Nintendo doesn’t want people to modify and hack their game and cheat online.
So, “fixing Mewtwo online” is basically to stop people from glitching their games and being banned from online play and to help fix those who’s games have already been affected.

What about the game breaking save deleting glitches in Skyward Sword that were fixed MONTHS after release? Quit pretending that they do no wrong.
Sony, Microsoft and a vast majority of 3rd party companies are far worst than Nintendo though in regards to quality and at least those problems you mentioned were minor in comparison to many SEVERE bugs and glitches that plague the competition’s offerings
Skyrim, Halo: Master Chief Edition, Assassin’s Creed Unity, COD Ghosts, BF4 and much..much more. lol
At least they’re quickly fixing things like this.
What about fixing their Wii U advertisement mistakes which is similar repeat of 3DS launch flop? What about getting rid of region locking? Launching new cheaper 3DS in U.S.? Just allow any and most mature games to exist like GTA5? Making account system and downloads universal and not system locked?

Cheaper, with faceplates customization to go with wallpaper themes and SNES colored buttons. If it was in the U.S. now, Nintendo will make more money from it than XL guaranteed.

There is an in game shop that you have to use. DLC isn’t going to be on the eshop itself.

Interesting that Nintendo didn’t catch this glitch. It dawned on me the second I heard about Mewtwo’s DLC inclusion that it could be a problem with him in certain modes that keep track of scores.
Just as I thought, it wasn’t as easy as slipping a new character into the game. They need to make bigger alterations.
I kind of expected that this was something they would think of when they planned adding additional DLC characters to Smash, which is why I’m suprised to see this article.
So, either Mewtwo is pretty freaking powerful, I just happened to be fighting the right people while online yesterday, or I’m actually decent at Smash… Probably the second one… Definitely not the third lol.
I can’t believe they didn’t encounter this bug before the release of the update…
Sometimes these bugs can slip under the radar until a certain condition happens.
Don’t worry everyone. Mewtwo is not gonna corrupt online gameplay. It might be the system. I played Super Smash Bros. and nothing bad happens. Only a teeny tiny percentage of Smash Wii U games are affected. Trust me, Mewtwo won’t corrupt online gameplay.
So not only 10 Multi-man Smash but all SP modes too? Nintendo thank you for responding but don’t let something like this slip by again. I bet Masahiro Sakurai is furious right now and is currently scolding his underlings.
