Not content with holding a special E3 themed Nintendo Direct presentation to showcase new and upcoming games, the company will also be holding a business presentation to a select group of media. The business presentation will show off games coming this holiday season as well as a few games that will make their way to store shelves in 2016. The special business presentation is on June 16th between 9am and 10am PT and will run alongside the E3 Nintendo Direct.

Konami, Sega, Square Enix and Capcom are the typical Japanese greats from 90´s that all failed to adapt with the time one way or another the past decade so they now think that mobiles will somehow “safe” them or make them relevant again while these companies are not even a shadow of their former selfs.
Nintendo on the other hand is expanding as an entertainment company to QOL and mobiles while still doing dedicated game systems and content for them.
Its kinda ironic that through the time, Nintendo is still here, providing us great quality console games when other companies like the already mentioned Sega,Konami,Capcom etc. have come and gone.
Nintendo is the only one with a console, so they have more leniency.

How has Square Enix failed to adapt with the times though? They’ve had some fairly successful games in the past years, and two of the most anticipated games of this gen belong to them. Yes, not every single thing they’ve done has been a wonderful success, but I personally wouldn’t say they need mobile games to “save” them. (That being said, I actually do enjoy their latest mobile game, FF Record Keeper quite a lot, lmao)
Other than that, I think Nintendo is actually one of those who can’t quite adapt to the times, considering they’re lagging behind the competition in some areas. Luckily not to an extent that will make them leave the market sometime soon though, but that’s another story anyway, I suppose.

What I personally dislike the most out of the things they’re behind in is the lack of unified accounts. It affects every single person who owns a Nintendo system, and the fact that it’s still missing in 2015, when the competition has had it for almost 10 years now is ridiculous, in my opinion.
Their lacking online infrastructure is another thing I hope they’ll improve on with their future platforms. But yea, as you’ve said, hopefully they won’t require us to pay for their online services, though I’m almost sure it will happen eventually. I personally wouldn’t mind it all that much, as long as they improve the online experience with it and maybe add some extras like the competition does, but yea, the whole thing being free wouldn’t be too bad either. :)

To be honest, Microsoft is doing a better job then Sony at the moment in terms of games. Sony has NOTHING for this year apart from a re-release of the Last of Us DLC Standalone and Bloodborne, that’s about it.

Sony doesn’t rehash their games that much. It’s mainly the big 3 third party devs. Ubisoft, Activision and EA. Microsoft rehashes as well because they don’t have many relevant IP’s.
Explains why Sony is rehashing Uncharted, God of War, Ratchet and Clank and Last of Us.

God of War isn’t really rehashed. There were 2 of them on the PS3 and they decided to remaster God of War 3 on the PS4 (shrugs shoulders). They are making a new one on the PS4, not a big deal.
